Hey Mrs SH. We don't mind long posts here so go wild :woohoo:

My clothes are also starting to sit tighter but like Mrs SH, I think that's more about how much I've been eating! Shoo! i also think (well, i KNOW from gynae appointment,) that I've gained 2 kg's already. Seriously need to slow down. Everyone's commenting on how "round" I am. hubby, my mom, even the lady who does my nails my nails was like "Tjo, hayi, now you are beeg. Last time I saw you, you were much smaller"
Ag, but I'm not THAT phased. Still enjoying the novelty of being preggy. Plus, i fortunately don't struggle to lose weight. But I must slow down tho. Don't wanna be a giant by the time I hit 12 weeks :silly:

Must say tho, my tummy is showing a definite little boop already. Must be enlarged uterus cos obviously baby is stilll VEEERRRRYYY tiny.

Congrats to all the ladies who have hit the 12 week milestone!

Hi ladies,

I'll try to keep it short! I am a babbler and usually in conversation people can cut me off or tell me to shut up, but on this forum, I have your UNDIVIDED attention. Mwah-ha-ha-ha.

I'm turning 32 in March and live in Durbanville. I work full time for Ackermans head office in Kuilsrivier. We have a nanny looking after Alex full time (work week) and she also cleans. She's amazing. I would literally die if something happened to her!

Joybaby - My new gynea is Dr Wynand Truter. My old gynea is Dr Johan Deale. They are both at Durbanville Medi-Clinic.

Clothes definitely sit tighter, but I have been pigging out. When I'm nauseaus, I can't drink anything, but boy can I eat! So I reckon I've piled on at least 2 kgs already whcih i'm so peeved about. I still go to Bootcamp in the morning - I'm still deciding whether to sign up for another camp. The gynea visit tomorrow will decide it for me...

Vitality sms'd me to say that I had to go 6 times before the end of the month! So I've been one of those terrible people who only go to swipe their card and go! But I will be in the gym once baby is born and don't want to loose my membership.

Oi vei...

Have a great week!!

Hi ladies

hope you all well and had a good weekend.

Elamsmom - im sure you were very excited to see your beans heartbeat - that is always the best.

Just on warming bottles in the middle of the night - what I did was I bought 2 of those small stainless steel flasks. I always had a jug of cold boiled water in the fridge too.
So I would fill the 1 flask up with hot boiling water and the other with cold boiled water from the fridge - have the formula dispenser ready with the amount of formula in it and then as baby would wake up I would quickly go to the bathroom - mix the 2 waters together to get the right temperatute - pop in the formula and back to bed. took like 1 minute and it was all done. I will be doing the same this time round - after the breastfeeding has stopped.

congrats Belaine on making it to 12 weeks. That is the first mile stone to reach for a preggie lady. good luck with the doc appointment on saturday.

Im also very tired and for the last 2 days have had headaches. It almost feels like a dehydration headache but ive been drinking lots so im not sure - probably also the heat.

im going for my 12 week scan next week - wed - I must tell you that I cannot wait. it has been a long time (well it seems like eternity) since we went to the doc at the beginning of the month.

so i dont'know about you 2nd time moms - but my preggie belly is really come along now. Wow I can't believe it. If I look down it looks like im like 4 -5 months preggies already. im already sleeping with pillows all around me just to stay comfy - and I can't sit on the couch for too long either.....my pants dont close and Ive had to take out my maternity wear already - and ive started wearing the maternity pants.

im struggling to hide it from my work colleagues - but I will tell my boss and them next week after my 12 week scan. Then I won't have to hide anything anymore!
i work full time - in JHB - from 8am to 3pm thankfully. Then I can go home and sit ont he couch and do nothing - well have to try and entertain my daughter which has been a bit tiring now in the 1st trimester - im hoping i will be able to spend more time with her in the 2nd trimester.
i have a domestic worker that comes on a tues and thurs - but im going to have to start getting her to come another day - cos I really just can't keep up an struggling to keep anything clean at home - which is bad for me cos im a complete neat freak..... :woohoo:

Im glad that my MS is slowly making its exit - yay! now i just have all the other niggles - heartburn, the smells of anything strong makes my stomach turn - im so constipated. My tummy feels like it is growing every second as I have constant aches and pains. My feet have been going a bit numb - maybe pinching a nerve somewhere and this weekend - i think because of the heat - i retained a bit of water and had to take off my rings and watch. My boobs are sore and big.
so that is my complaints list for the day. Sorry!
I dont remember having half as much of these symptoms last time - especially so early on!!
I know i got some of these but only much much later so Im very surprised that all of this is happening so soon. Feels like im going to have a long, hard pregnancy!!

Ok - I don't want to take the record away from Joybaby or Mrs SH for having the longest post!

Hope you all have a good day!!

tell us how you feeling???

Hi ladies

Hope you all had a nice, relaxed weekend.

By the way, do you ladies work fulltime/partime/work from home/ SAHM's? & do you have domestic helpers? If so, do your helpers live-in or come in a few times a week?

I work full-time so I have always had full-time help at home. My current helper is going off on maternity leave at the end of this month so I have just recently hired a new one. Training a new person is SUCH a mission :( but I'm hoping she will learn fast.

On the vbac topic, I just spoke to a midwife from Genesis, Xoli Makabane. She sounded very nice & asked me the reason for the 1st caesar and how long ago it was. We have an appointment this Friday...

But, on the other hand, I am worried about my placenta issue. Midwives don't use the ultrasound machines so, had I not gone to the gynae, a moidwife wouldn't have picked it up. I worry about stuff like that :(

Hi ladies !!!

I check every day to see if our group is growing :)

Mrs SH where are you based? For some reason I seem to think you're close to me. Would be keen to know who ur gynae was and who the new one will be too.
But I agree with you. Doctors seem to think that omitting information will keep us more at ease. But in today's age where we have google to curb our interest, its actually damaging to the relationship.
My friend is a UCT lecturer, she teaches language to medical students. She gets so frustrated at the lack of communication between doctors and their patients.

You should give the plastic bottles from plastics warehouse a chance. You can only use it once but its so much cheaper!
I never managed to find the ice trays with lids on them. But definitely going to try again this time. Plus I need to buy a blender cos I borrowed one from a friend last time.

Good point about the huggies being higher working better for boys. Never thought of it that way. If I have a boy I may have to try huggies then!

I agree with the Johnson & Johnson wipes for nappy changing. I use the cheap bumbies or dischem brand for keeping around the house or car for hand and face wiping etc. I also like the pigeon ones, and they are often on special at Baby Boom, R99 for 6 packs.
The J&J's are currently on special at Spar by us.

Wow clothes from the UK are stunning! We got a lot from Carters in Dubai because of family sending gifts over! Their grows are so much softer than ours.
From SA I like buying grows from Ackermans and Edgars. Ackermans is affordable. Edgars is nice and soft.
Kaylee was very small at birth, 2.83kgs. And because she had an operation early in life, it delayed her growth. So we were in newborn clothes the first 2-3 months.
But most people would say only the first month or so before moving up.
I think we had about 8 newborn outfits, and 12 0-3 month outfits. She was born in winter though, so we had long sleeve onesies and then the fleecy button up grows as well, so 8 of each of those. And then also leggings and fleecy grows.
But you dont need to have it all before baby arrives. Once you know what baby's size is you can go out and get more. Luckily they aren't too expensive.
But do yourself a favour and get a few warm stuff in winter before they become hard to find in spring. September is still fairly cold at night.

Mrs SH are you for sure having a c/sec? Whats your reason for it if I may ask?
Did you have a emergency C or elective last time?
We had an elective C, but I'd really like to have a shot at VBac this time.

I've had 2 people tell me they think its a boy, and one say its a girl. Will be interesting to see! I'm DEFINITELY finding out again, I love it!

I'm taking Pregnacare which has folic acid in it too. Not sure if I should take a separate folic acid tablet with it, can one overdose on folic acid?

I've decided also to wait till 8 weeks to have my first scan. I remember how nice the 8 week scan was compared to the 6 week scan last time.

Belaine in the beginning they go through around 9 nappies a day, its more for breastfeeding than formula feeding. I dint buy prem nappies, but the huggies newborn are very nice. You can start with 3 or 4 of those packs for now and then stock up on size 2's, and once baby is here you can start buying size 3's and 4's.
Most babies get to size 3's very quickly, and stay in 4's for a very long time cos they cover a big weight range.

Re symptoms, my nipples are very sensitive, and today I've started feeling queezy. Especially my husband's deoderant as he sprays it, and my inlaws dog breath almost sent me to the bathroom!

Mrs S H I think I beat your record of long post now :D :D

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

Oh ja, sorry - I know I'm hogging the post with these lenghty replies...

Gyneas - I'm also changing. There's nothing wrong with my previous gynea. In fact, he did a wonderful job as Alex also had the cord around his next twice and even with the C-sect, the nurse told me that he worked so quickly that there were no complications. He just doesn't have any personality. Eg. I would ask him a question, and he wouldn't give me a straight answer. That's his way of not getting me to be worried.

Eg. What can and can't I eat? His answer - anything, except for biltong. Why, I ask? His answer, because that you bring to me. And that was the full conversation.

I understand why he did that, because not once in my pregnancy was I freaked out or worried about anything that he said, but you know what it's like when you're pregnant and you're listening to the full diagnosis that other people get at their gyneas and I just felt - in that respect - a little short-changed.

So a few of my friend go to my 'new' gynea and have been raving about him and now my appointment is with him on Tuesday.

Joysmom (I think) - yes the breastmilk bag here are LANK expensive! I got my MIL to send from the UK. She pays 10pounds for 40 bags where we have to pay R250 for 30 bags here! I also used those ice cubes holders with the lids on - that worked better when we started him on solids - one ice cube with 5 teaspoons of rice cereal or something.
