Hi ladies,

Sorry been a bit MIA - had a crazy busy week.

Elamsmom - so cool that you got to hear the heartbeat!

I totally agree with the bottle warmer. We couldn't really do room temprature, because we froze the breastmilk and let it thaw in the fridge. And then we would struggle with the bottle in boiling water...what was meant to be night off, ended up with me listening to baby cry and feeling guilty for making him wait for his milk when I could just give it to him directly! So yes, a bottle warmer for me a must this time!

Nappies - see I love Huggies. I used Newborn Huggies and then moved over to Huggies Gold. It is definitely a bit harder than Pampers, but it also comes up higher so we only had a leak/spillage in the very beginning. Some people has also said that Huggies work better for boys and Pampers for girls - something to do with peeing up or down or something. I can't remember the whole thing now.

Wetwipes - I love Johnson & Johnsons. I find that one is enough. And they don't tend to stick to each other - something I've learned is important when you're holding baby's legs up with one hand and trying to get a wet wipe out with the other hand!

Bottles - I love pigeon also. But will use the Medela ones.

Clothes - Alex literally had 6 newborn outfits. He had a lot of vests, but only 6 babygrows or trouser/top sets. We only had 3 when he was born and we bought 3 more, but he grew so quickly that it was enough. He moved into 0 - 3 months clothes in a month and then 3-6 month clothes within another month. I was super spoilt as a really good friend of mine has two boys. They had just moved back from the UK and she saved me boxes and boxes full of clothes (think GAP, Next, Marks & Spencers, etc). She only kept the good stuff and between that and the gifts we received, we never bought Alex anything but vests! And the vests we asked my MIL to send from the UK. The M&S vests are like super soft - softer than anything I found in SA.

Sex - I don't know. I have the same MS as I had with Alex (although with him I actually got sick a few times - with this one it's only been CONSTANT 24HR nausea). Did I say that we're going to try to not find out? It's going to be so hard. we found out with Alex and because I'll probably end up having another c-sect which means there is no excitement, we want to leave the sex for on the day! I'm not sure we'll be able to do it, but that's the plan.

Pills - I've stopped taking my Pregnavit as it was making me even more nauseaus. I am only taking Folic Acid now at nights and will continue with Pregnavit after 12 weeks.

What is everyone up to this weekend?

Hi ladies

The tablets are called Utrogestan and basically contain Progesterone. Think that is some type of hormone. Will google it to find out exactly what it does.Have to take them twice daily. so, added to the awful Pregnavit & folic acid, I now have an additional pill to pop  But i will do anything to keep this baby safe & healthy.

@Joybaby: my LG was a winter baby and the milk did get quite cold so I always had to warm it up in the middle of thye night. on a cold winter night when you are comatose with exhaustion, lets just say, it wasn't a pleasant experience at all. Definitely getting the bottle warmer this time.

Had the vbac discussion with my gynae again today and he said lets have that discussion later. He really isn't keen. he asked if my c-sec was bad & I told him that yes, the recovery for me, was very painful and I did not want another c-sec. So, I guess I'll have to see what he says. But I kind of need to know soon. he can't string me along knowing full well that he won't do a vbac. That also wouldn't be fair.

Joybaby, are you in Cape Town? Yes, I must say. we're lucky to ahve Genesis here. But time will tell whether I end up taking the genesis route or not. I really want a water birth. But i must say, I also do kind of like the gynae/hospital route. Let's just say, I'm still a bit confused...

@Tiagosmom: The gynae app is really exciting! Seeing the heartbeat and seeing the baby! I had this attitude that I wasn't going to waste my medical aid benefits going to the gynae every 4 weeks this time, but after going this morning, I can't wait to go again after 4 weeks! 4 weeks almost seems too long to wait

I asked him why he thinks I'm not feeling any morning sickness and basically no symptoms (except eating a lot & getting quite plumpy  ) I said, "In your experience, does that mean i'm having a girl or a boy?" he said : "In my experience, that means that you're lucky"

Elamsmom sooooo glad to hear your scan went well!
Must be so cool to see that heart beat :)
Is it different the second time around though?
Is the placenta still functioning properly? So glad it can be fixed with meds.
Some people dont get any symptoms at all, thats how you have women who only find out they're preggers half way through. Consider yourself lucky!

Tiago's mom it was me. Thanks :)
Man this is going so slowly. I found out a week ago today but dont want to see doctor for another 2 weeks at least.

Re warming bottles, we never did so with K. Room temperature milk was just fine for her. But every baby is different I guess. At 2am the last thing u want to be doing is warming bottles :(

Elamsmom youre lucky you can go to Genesis. I would love to go to Mowbray but I dont think my DH is keen on that at all. He likes the control of a hospital and gynae.
I also want a vbac this time around. I dont think I'll even raise this with my gynae until we enter our 3rd trimester. Cos it all depends on how baby is lying etc. K never turned, and was born with the cord twice around her neck so we would never have had our natural anyways. But I know my gynae has done some natural deliveries, but we never really got to that point lat time around.

I agree, never even used the pampers premium as no need.
What I personally like about Pampers is the elasticity around the waste. Even with huggies gold they arent nearly as elastic and K is a small girl, wearing size 4 nappies now, she'll be in this size for a long time to come yet its not comfortable around her waste already.

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

Hi ladies

So, I had my 1st gynae appointment this morning. I'm 8wks5days as I knew I was (thanks to Dr Google) & EDD is 30 September.

He says that there is some blood around the sac where the placenta should have grown (or something like that) i.e I think the placenta hasn't grown properly to close the gap between itself and the sac. Anyway, so he prescribed something for me to fix that. Other than that, baby has a strong heartbeat which we got a dvd of. YAY. My husband was SO excited.

I could see the gynae looked worried when I initially told him that I was hardly having any morning sickness & hardly feeling any preggy symptoms. But after he did the scan, he says that the baby is growing well.

So, I'm off to get my placenta pills.
