Angie, as the other ladies have said the labour is completely private & hubby is welcome. Afterwards it all depends on your hospital of choice.
I'll be having little boy in Mediclinic Milnerton where all of their general rooms only have 2 beds, and they fill the rooms with 1 mommy each until they have to start putting 2 in. If this does happen they have a few private rooms where you can request (1st come 1st serve) for R700 per day. Daddy can stay all day from 7am to 9pm, but no staying over unless you're in active labour.

yes, the preggy belt help somewhat for back pain. i lived in mine with G. but with this one my body is so different that my belt hurts me.

Angy, the ward will be for after your delivery. while you are in labour, you will be in a private room with only you and hubby and the midwive/nurse and dr.
yes hubby will be able to be with you all the time. at most places dads can be there the whole day and are not bound by visiting hours.
i'm going to a Life hospital, there are only general wards with 4 beds in a ward. there are a few private rooms and they are allocated as a first come first serve basis, when your baby is delivered you can ask for a private room and then you will be added to the waiting list.

BeautifullyAngie, I'm either going for a semi-private or private room, be aware that these cost more and medical aid does not cover the cost.

Dad will be with you while you deliver in a private room, this will happen in the labour ward, afterwards you will be taken to the maternity ward and be placed in the general/semi-private/private room whichever you decide to go for.

Ladies, on my pre admission form I have a option to go for general, semi-private and private ward. What are you ladies going for? Will dad be able to be with me while I deliver if I choose to give birth in the general ward?

Also, thanks for checking about the Deep Heat, it's always been my lifesaver with sore and crampy muscles. Will look into the Arnica cream too, and try to keep use moderate.

Anyone have advice on which belly bands are good? I got a Carriwell Belly Bando, but it made my back even more sore, so I had to return it.
