Angie, if you are so lucky to actually be paid on time, the first payment will only be 6 weeks after baby is born.

last year with G i only got my payment as 1 lump sum when G was already 8 months old.

but 3 of my friends actually got their monthly payments on time - also i am in pretoria with probably the worst dept of labour - my friend in JHB and cape town didnt have any issues with their payments.

Angie, you must submit all your forms before baby is born. if i remember correctly you can start to submit it 6 weeks before baby is born to get the ball roling. then there is a form you submit that the doctor signs stating the baby is born and you must also submit the birth certificate just after baby is born. and then every month there after.
there is a lot of different forms to fill in. i will go through my things and see if i still have the list

yes, it does depend on all those things.
it takes into account the companies you have worked for within the last 4 years.
it also depend on what your company is paying you during your maternity leave.
the capped amount is about R5200, so only if you qualify for 100% from all the requirements will you get the full amount, otherwise you will only get a % of it

last time i did my UIF through an agency, so i just completed the forms and didnt worry about anything. will still decide this time if i go through a agency again or just do it myself

Please can someone explain this whole claiming of UIF business to me. Do I claim after baby is born or as soon as I am officially on maternity leave? How long do they take to pay? It's so stressful not knowing how much you'll be getting per month... Oh and also, does the amount you get paid depend on your contributions/salary/how long you've worked for your company?

And is it better/quicker to use those companies that claim for you?
