I am using the Medela nipple guard in size Medium. Have also been applying Lansinoh Lanolin after every feed and shower. At the moment latching hurts, but then it's fine while feeding. Just a mission keeping the little lady awake during feeds. I change her nappy and leave her legs out. Then feed for 10min on one breast whilst tickling her legs, feet and neck continually. Thereafter I wind her and repeat with the other breast.

TCS84 are you now able to feed without the nipple guard?

Hi berry. Glad you are home and well with your precious. I had severe nipple pain as well. The Pediatrician showed me the correct latch. It made a big difference but because I was already so sore it was still uncomfortable but not as uncomfortable as when I was feeding before he showed me. I use a nipple guard too. The avent one. Been using it for weeks. And I use the lansinoh nipple cream. Helps ALOT!!! My nipples have healed and not painful anymore. It took about 2 weeks of the nipple guard. If you continue with the guard it will eventually go away. Which guard are you using? Make sure you have the correct size. I bought the medium and initially thought too big. Then bought the small but the small fits snuggly but still caused nipple ache so I use the medium because there is ample space...
The other thing that caused soreness was expressing milk whilst the nipple was sore. Try not to do that. It aggravates it ...

Hi Ladies,

Just a quick update. I was discharged from Hospital on Friday and my baby on Sunday. Got to hold her on Friday and breastfeed. We are both home and doing great.

I still have pain and bending is not an option, but can feel massive improvement daily. Still have swollen feet and not ankles.

Question: My nipples are now hurting ALOT. I started to use nipple shields last night and it feels a little better. Does the pain ever go away? If so after how long?

My baby is so precious and sleeps mostly. My Son isn't happy with his sister and keeps asking me when she is going to go home. Haha!

Thanks DieSwartKat. I think my son has this. I can relate to a few of them. I have an app tomorrow with the pediatrician and will ask him. What was the solution your Doc gave you for DD?

Betti/TCS, my daughter was the same when she was a baby. She was fine for the first 3 weeks and then started fussing, wouldn't sleep in the day, symptoms you are both describing. She never slept for more than 15min at a time, sometimes it took me 3 hours to get her to close her eyes and then she'd only nap for 10 min. That's the reason I suffered from baby blues because it meant I couldn't go to the toilet, or shower or even have a cup of tea. It lasted my whole maternity leave, but was somewhat better after she was 12 weeks old.

Long story short, she was diagnosed with "Silent Reflux" at 5 weeks, description:

if you can associate with 3 or more of these symptoms, make sure you speak to your paed when you go for 6-week check-up. Make an appointment sooner if it becomes really bad.

Charl also sleeps beautifully at night, what a blessing! But also won't let me put him down during the day.

I got some Laager baby rooibos, which I used yesterday, and some Annique baby rooibos, for my babyshower. You can use baby or regular, but apparently the baby one is slightly sweeter - no added sugar, but to do with the leaves they use. It must be made weak.

Betti he has not slept all day and I'm currently sitting with him in my arms. If I put him down he screams ... He sleeps in my arms but not down. Weird
At night he's been perfect. Hope tonight is no different!

I am seeing the paed for a check up on Wednesday and will check his weight etc. And def consider the rooibos.

Did u use baby rooibos or normal and just made a weak tea?
