Got my first braxton hicks on Friday night, never got it with my first lg so was quite surprised at how intense they were. And the carried on for quite a while, no very nice i must say!!

My MIL already asking what time i will be giving birth, although i will be getting a induction if i dont go into labour naturally at 38 weeks. I mean seriously??? So now im considering telling her that the date moved on a week?? What do you girls recon?? Keeping in mind its my MIL and i will need to be sensitive??

Yes I will be going to Kloof and my scheduled C Sec is for the 9th of Oct. Booking your bed is not a big deal, all you have to do is go to reception and book your bed, they put it on the system immediately. What I then recommend is going up to the maternity ward and book your hospital tour, they will open your file for you during your tour and give you some info, and a discount voucher for your 4D scan. My medical aid (Momentum) requested that I phone them a month before my scheduled c sec date to get the authorisation number. Your Dr will provide you with all the necessary codes to do so, I only received my codes last week (31 weeks) So just phone your Medical aid client services and as them what the procedure is.

Due to you being nervous regarding the C Sec, I would HIGHLY recommend attending the Pre-Natal class at Kloof, they explain in detail what will happen and how they handle everything there! We went last weekend and I am feeling super relaxed about it and I feel that my baby and I will be in great hands... Both my sisters had their babies via C Sections at Kloof and they were also very very very happy with everything.

If you want the number for the pre-natal class let me know, I will post it here, but you should then phone on Monday as their classes get full very quickly and it is only once a month on a Saturday from 8 till 4. It costs R900 per couple and it is SOOOOOOO worth it, especially for us first timers!

Otherwise! How is everybody doing, I actually feel surprisingly good, even though I have BH so often... which is now getting uncomfortable...

@Kimmy - yes, I'm pretty sure that the shower is tomorrow. DH's ruse is about his sister painting the mural in the nursery and how the times and everything are getting messed around and such. I'm playing along

@LouiseM - no, I'm not getting pressure about natural birth, a friend of mine was complaining that her doctor is pushing her for a C-section. I've just had people going on about methods to turn my lg from breech and have said that I'm just going to let it run its course and deliver by whatever means will be best.

And I'm quite excited 'cause my best friend lives in France and she got a hold of me yesterday to show me the adorable Beatrix Potter soft toy she's got for El. It's Hopsy (one of Peter Rabbit's sisters). And she'll be personally delivering it later this year But I can't say much about it because she's only told me and her mom, but I'm not too worried that her secret might get out to other family and friends through this forum She wants to surprise her sister so I must just keep pregnancy brain in check when I see her (hopefully she'll be at the shower too)!

Thanks for the reply. I am happy to hear about HoopVirDieBeste because I would like to hear her thoughts on Kloof. Thus far I am very happy but I have not been to the maternity ward yet and have no idea how they are. I ended up at kloof via my GP.

Just wanted to ask when you are due? I am due the 10th of Nov via c-section. And was revered to Kloof via my GP. So I didn't really choose the hospital or my Obstetrician but I am very happy thus far. I have a great doctor and have felt very much at ease with him from day 1 and the hospital seams very professional and I cannot complain about the service they have given me in the past (I had to go there for an MRI scan last year)

Anyway just wanted to find out what you think about Kloof (Obviously your must like it if you are having your baby there)

This is my first baby and I am unsure about everything really and I have heard horrible ghost stories about bad service at other hospitals and I really hope Kloof will live up to their reputation which thus far they have.

Lilly, it's the first time I've heard about the pineapple?! With my 1st pregnancy and now with this one I'm chowing down on pineapple and no problems? I have a whole pineapple at least once a week...and then it's a big one!

Zandri, yay!!!! Another Pretoria mommy! HoopVirDieBeste is also having her baby at kloof. With my first I was at Pretoria East, Dr Karen Fourie, but unfortunately due to an operation for her neck & back she can no longer do obstetretics... So this time around I'm going to Femina.

Dr Fourie was amazing... I honestly had no pain with my incision and when I went for my appointment with my new gynae she couldn't even see my scar - I had to show her! Recovery was very easy for me... I was up on the 2nd day walking around in the hospital.

There was some discomfort when my epidural wore off, cause then the scar "burned"... but then the nurses just brought me some of those gel ice packs to put on.

Never had any bleeding or tearing - had internal dissolvable stiches.

Have requested the same from my new gynae, so I hope she'll be able to make the same nice incision.
