Kimmy, with my first Elmarise dropped about a week before I went into labour. They say with next pregnancies it can literally happen upon labour, as the cervix has previously "effaced".

Juanita - Hou duim vas!!!

Morning everyone, just came back from hospital for weekly checkup, all good with lg!! Dr said my cervix is ripe and ready so we are all set for induction next Friday. This is to say if she doesn't come earlier which dr says she might as cervix has already started dilating, although baby hasn't dropped yet?!?

With my first my water broke in my sleep... I immediately woke up and went to the loo, cause I thought I pee'd in my sleep. Once on the toilet I noticed the "pee" just streaming - without me even "pushing" to empty my bladder. I then tried to squeeze, but no such luck - the water kept running... and as I was sitting there I started getting my first contraction. Once in bed, contractions came every 8 minutes.

Trust me - there's NO sweet smell... the only way to really know is when it actually happens. If you notice water "leaking/dripping" and squeezing doesn't stop it - that's the real makoya! I didn't notice any mucus plug, no bloody show...nothing. Only when the matron advised me to put on a pad to check for tinged discharge, did I notice the light pink discharge. So when in doubt - put on a pad!

Lauz, I actually do the "rocking" thing on the loo... I think this one is just lying verg akward on my bladder, cause I can't get it completely empty... even if I stand up and sit down again.

Urgh Kimmy... talk about waking up at 5am - our alarm in the house went off @ 1:20 this morning!!! Still have NO idea what triggered it, cause all the windows were closed...? But yes - Very difficult falling back to sleep after that! Just to be awaken by the alarm clock for DH and Elmarise to wake up... :(

Definitely agree on the cake and tea! Although we are in Randburg now, we are also originally from Pretoria and I don't kmind the drive at all (in fact, I still do my nails and hair in Pta  ).

Regarding the leaking, I have also been worried that I leak amniotic fluid since about 20 weeks, but the scans up to now have all shown that my fluid is still fine. So I guess it must be urine. My gynae told me that if I am worried, the maternity ward has a quick test kit to make sure, and I have heard that one may be able to get something similar at pharmacies?? Not sure if it is commonly available in SA though. I really do hope the leakage situation improves after birth, I didn't leak with my first so I'm finding it very disconcerting.

Morning Ladies!

On the leakage... you will know if it is your water... believe me! It will be constant and not only when you pee. At first I did think it was pee... but, when every I stood up from a sitting position, I felt the fluid, and if I walked I felt it... when I felt it the second time after getting up, I just knew it was not pee. So good luck.

Us Pretoria Mommies should definitely do a cake and tea once everybody is settled with the new babbas, the Jozi Mommies are welcome to join if you are willing to make the drive! It would be really awesome to meet you all face to face!
