Good Morning Ladies

Well I spoke to my husband again about all the family that is coming to stay and luckily it did not end up in a fight.

But unfortunately his parents are very sensitive and he is basically to scared to tell them straight that we would like to be alone the first week. My mother and father will be staying at my sister and will only come on our request.

So basically I will have to put up with the in-laws for who knows how long :pinch: At least he promised to take them out for the day if thing get to much for me.

On a different topic I had the most horrible pain on my lower right abdomen last night. I turned around in bed and it felt like something was tearing   I was on the verge of going to the hospital but after a few seconds the pain went completely away - I have no idea what it was because I could tell that it wasn't round ligament pain. Anyway baby is still moving and kicking like usual and I did not want to rush to the emergency room for nothing. Have any of you have anything like this?

I guess I have to take it easy. I am still working a 9 hour day and walking a lot and cooking at night and doing the washing. Perhaps everything is starting to catch up with me. Hubby is no help AT ALL he comes home at six then go's to the gym and when he comes back dinners has to be ready. I feel to bad to ask him to stay and help me. I feel that he has to make that decisions on his own. Feeling very low

Hope everyone have nice day

Hi Mommies!

Pillpusher, w.r.t. the vinegar, yes, I just add it to the little container/section where I would normally have put the softener. Normal cheap white grape vinegar. My previous washing machine started packing up mostly due to residue from softener, and with the new machine I stopped using it until
I got the vinegar tip recently from the lady who made my curtains for the new house. She has been in the textile business for more than 20 years, and also looks after a special needs grandchild, so, good source of advice ;)

I'm also very easily influenced by any incident with little kiddies, or mommies losing babies. And these days I find myself terrified of something having gone wrong with my baby, and the doctors not picking it up on scans. Or something going wrong with the birth. How do you ladies deal with this constant fear? I remember also being very worried with my first little girl, but I think going for Antenatal classes then took my mind off things...

Ladies, I'm itching all over!! My gynae says it could be due to preggyhormones and is not uncommon, but it drives me nuts! Mostly not even my belly, but my arms and legs and feet and my butt  Anyone of you get this?

Hi all

Thanks for the info so far regarding laundry detergents.
@Clueless - do you just add the vinegar where you would normally put softener in? I'm assuming white grape vinegar?
Thankfully neither myself nor DH are prone to skin allergies. Softener also isn't something we really use, I grew up in a house where we didn't use fabric softener because my older brother had a reaction to it when he was small so it's not a normal household item to me.

I felt so sad/scared last night. A woman posted on the FB Eastern Cape Mamahood group that she wanted to be removed from the group because she had "only 5 weeks to go" and lost her baby and couldn't cope with seeing the group updates. I've been feeling so much more excited and positive lately with things getting closer, that just made me scared again. And so sad for that mommy  I just started praying for her and her partner and for my own little one.

As far as heartburn goes, I attended a talk by a gastroenterologist last night and he briefly mentioned use of proton pump inhibitors (like omeprazole - Omez, Losec, etc) in pregnancy saying that they aren't teratogenic and for the brief amount of time for use they wouldn't do harm. I know this has been discussed before, I recall LouiseM saying that her gynae had given omeprazole, but just thought I'd post again. I asked him about which ones because he'd just said the class of drugs and I obviously don't want to tell every pregnant women that it's fine to use whichever one, so he indicated omeprazole, rabeprazole (Pariet) and pantoprazole (Pantoloc), but wasn't so happy about lansoprazole (Lancap, Lansoloc). Also said not for first trimester. So just an FYI for you if you want to check with your doctors.

@PP i used the same washing powder that i used for us, for lg clothes, but also opted for a gentler softner. I did see that they have a nice woolite washing liquid which i might try for the first couple of months... Are either you or hubby prone to skin allergies?? If so I would def use something like woolite to see if your lg has a reaction.
@clueless i like your idea about using a little vinegar as rinse liquid!! This will also help as to not overwhelm baby with too many smells in the beginning. Im going to try it!!! Will let you know my thoughts ;)
Oh ps, the thing that really got under my skin the most after having my lg was whenever someone picked her up, there would be a comment. Something like, aah shame are you hungry (straight after she was fed) or aah do you have a wind (when i knew she didn't) or ooh someone needs a nappy change... These things just really got under my skin!!!

@zandri it sounds like you have quite a situation with your inlaws coming from so far! I hope your hubby atleast sets some boundries for them once they arrive!
With my 1st lg our families were very respectful, came for a visit in hospital and then left us to be on our own. My MIL came for a visit the weekend after i came home from hospital but she was so cool, she bought lunch with her, organized everyone and even cleaned before they went home again. I really appreciated that! On asking my mother to come "help" in the first week, well that wasn't even a option, I didn't feel like having someone around me 24/7 and my mom was perfectly fine with that. This time round i will however ask her to help a little with Leandi, like fetching her from school, taking her to her swimming lessons and so on.. I feel like its not just about being aline with your newborn but also just to chill the f out!! You need to have the freedom to stay in your pj's all day if thats what you feel like, and if you're not up for making supper then no one should judge you for it!! Really hope that all your families will be supportive and not expect the new mom to cater for all their needs!!!

Hi ladies..hope you had a lovely day.

Visitors, am really not keen too (nasty people we are)
With my first i had my house full, he was born in december so every one basically spend their holidays at my house, until january, we had to take 2 days away from home with a 2 week old baby   and as a first time mom, you will get everyone's opinion about everything which is tiring. So i hope this time around it will be different.

Seeing my dr tomorrow, cant wait.

@clueless - I am beginning to think that your approach may be best. Tell both sets of parent that we as a family need to be on our own for at least the first week. My mother understand luckily and she can go stay with my sister but my in-laws are a different story :S They will are flying in from CT and have nowhere else to stay and want to be here for the birth. So I have no idea how I'm going to dodge that one.

At least nobody will be at the hospital the first day. We told everyone from the get go that they can come during visiting hours on the 2nd day. I just need to find my feet before having a hospital full of family and friends to deal with.

But I will have a talk with my hubby tonight and hopefully it doesn't end up in another fight   . Perhaps we can come up with some sort of plan.

Wish me luck :pinch:
