Oops, pressed submit by accident.

@Carien, hope the nausea clears up soon. I'm sure it will. I love the idea of the nursery for your little girl. They do tend to have really good imaginations! Trust me!

@Chanti - good luck at work.

Afternoon Ladies,
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

@Chanti - so happy to hear everything is going well with you and baby. I have to say that if this was only one baby, I would have also not find out until the birth (or I would have tried very hard). I have done so much research on wrong genders at 14 weeks, but it's not that often these days that the ultrasound specialist are wrong especially with the nub and potty shot so clear.
@Carien, this was at a specialist and although the tech was very young, she really knew what she was talking about and she did such a thorough check that I am really trusting her judgement on the genders. She was really lovely.

I have done so much soul searching and thinking and I have to say that although I was disappointed and sad after finding out, I didn't once cry about it. And I don't have that empty feeling that I thought I would have. I am actually feeling quite alright. I have their names picked out and the nursery colours. Not sure about a theme though.
My eldest was lime green, purple and pink with a fairy theme. The youngest was brown, pink and white teddy bears. I'm thinking of a softish grey, white and very light pink (not overwhelming) for these two and maybe an elephant theme or owls.

So I have started telling hubby about the possibility of it being two girls and told him about the nub theory but he still thinks it's a boy and girl. So guess we will just wait until end of the month.

So like I was saying, there is no doubt that these two are girls just looking at the potty shots.

Morning ladies, hope everyone had a good weekend. Ours was quiet, which to me = good at this time :) Still struggling with the all day sickness which I am hoping will start to get better from here on, I am of the opinion that it really can only get better, so here's to hoping :)

@Chanti - happy to hear you are doing well. You are much more patient than me to not find out the gender of your baby! Hope you can hold off till birth, it really would be a great surprise if you can!

@Reese - I have also heard of girls turning into boys. I do have to add however that most times that this happens it is not a specialist or an elective scan type place where they are pretty much geared to look for things in particular. With the specialist we saw last week, sure she could be wrong, but her equipment is the best there is, not just regular ultrasound that our gynae's have, and she specializes in looking for specific things, so I am confident that she was right. Anyway, thats how I feel about it, I might still eat my words, but I am comfortable agreeing with her that our little bambino is a girl. Hoping you are feeling better, but if not, then I hope you can find peace when you are ready. Really thinking of you, I so much know how you feel. Praying for strength for you <<hugs>>

@Sparky - that is great that you want to do a natural birth!! Like I said, make sure your doc is on board, a good thing to do is to find out their c/s vs. natural delivery stats, that should give you a good indication of how they will support you. My doc is very much pro natrual birth, when possible of course. My first she let me do TOL for 23 hours and only said we needed to do a c/s when my son went into distress and did not recover well after each contraction. My second she supported me for a VBAC until my u/s at 34 weeks where she said it was just not going to be possible b/c he was just too big, his head was measuring too big and it would just not ahve been safe for either of us. He was born at 38w at 4kg, if I went to term he would have been up to .5kg more, so I trusted her judgement on that. Really hope you get your natural birth, stick to your guns if that is what you want, you can do it!!

AFM - well like I said, just over the being sick thing and hoping that gets better. I started to look at some ideas for the nursery over the weekend. For our first baby I had a big oak tree painted in the corner of the room and I loved it so much I still had it for my 2nd and will keep it for this baby too! My first one's theme was just "forrest" the 2nd we went with "owls in the forrest" and for this one I am liking "toadstool fairies" which kind of keeps with the forrest theme. My husband says he still has to wrap his head around that b/c he doesnt really know how to "deal" with mytical creatures...I told him he will have to get used to it since girls are ALL about mytical creatures! Anyway, have you ladies started to think about the nursery? I will need to move my youngest out of the nursery before that though, but for the moment, he LOVES his crib, really does love it, so will wait till I feel he is ready to move out of it...

Hope everyone has a great monday :)

Hey ladies!

Just dashing through as hectic at work with Wednesday's tax deadline!

@Jay - Getting close to that first scan now hun! I wish we had a midwife led birth centre close by as I would definitely go with that. I am going to be using Hillcrest Private though which is amazing and practically a hotel! They have amazing birthing suites and my doctor is very pro natural so feeling quite excited about it.

@Carien - So glad your scan went well and congrats on the girl!!! The next scan should give you a nice clear answer.

@Reese- I'm sorry you have feelings of disappointed. Is tech 100% certain its 2 girls as I have seen it happen so often that they think its a girl and only much later on do they see its a boy! It happened in the last two weeks with someone I know. But even if it is two girls I'm pretty sure they will fill your heart with so much love xxx I'm from an all girl family and I always felt sorry for my dad that he didnt have a son. It's hard I know... Praying and thinking of you guys and I hope you and hubby are able to navigate these waters together.

@Sparky - What is happening on your front? When is the next scan?

AFM, I had my 13 week scan last week, baby measured perfectly and low risk for any problems. We didn't do the bloods, only went on the scan and feeling pretty happy with that. Tomorrow is the day I had my last mc, will be glad to get passed it. Feeling so comfortable and positive though and everything has been going smoothly with no problems at all :) We won't be finding out the gender. I originally had the feeling boy but now I'm thinking girl, might just be because of all the girls on the horizon!

Keep well ladies and following on email but a bit too busy to keep up at the moment. xxx

@ Reece, you are allowed to have gender disappointment and allow yourself time to feel that way. I would tell hubby before the next scan so that he can have a chance to sort out his feelings and not have it "sprung" on him from the doctor. It can't be easy as I am sure, sending you hugs and strength.

@ Carien, argh those catheters! I agree as doctors do not like doing VBAC's and here they are pretty rare and impossible as well. Sounds like you have had a rough time giving birth but each birth is unique and so special. My birth didn't go as planned so with this one I am going to be more relaxed as anything can happen.

@ Sparky, glad that you are having a good day. I think the sickness comes and goes and is perfectly normal. I feel sick now and again and hoping it passes real soon. Yay today in a week I will have my first scan and can't wait.

I think that that we might all be having girls...

@Carien - Congrats on such positive feedback about your baby! And a Girl! Double yay! I would rather want to go natural before I would consider a CS. All I can think about is that huge needle they will stick in my back for the epidural. This is my first, so will definitely be possible.

@Reese thinking of you, this cant be easy. I'm scared of the same scenario on my side. DH really wants baby to be a boy, and so do I. I dont know how we will feel if we get a girl. Sending lots of love your way. I agree with Carien, just give it some time to settle in.

@Jay-bee The wait for the first scan felt like a lifetime to me, hoping time will fly past for you! I have chosen Linkwood that is part of Linksfield in the east of Johannesburg. I have seen many good reviews, so will give it a try.

AFM, yesterday and today I have been having good days, not been feeling sick much at all. Is this normal, or should I worry?

@Reese - you are allowed to be sad, do not discount your feelings, you are basically morning a loss. Give yourself the time to adjust to this way of thinking, dont rush it, and dont tell you husband if you are not ready, have him find out when you are ready for him to find out. Really sorry you are not getting the boy you have been hoping for, I'm sure your husband will love them as much as you will, but for now, give yourself the time to be sad <<hugs>>
