Carien, I am holding thumbs that you will find out gender on Wednesday! So exciting! What on earth is a "geriatric mother"? I have never heard of that!
I also found out with DD1 at 12 weeks so it is possible!

Unfortunately, doc didn't discuss the twins much. WE just did a quick scan to check heartbeats and she played around a bit without telling me what we are looking at, but I could see Twin S was bottoms down and Twin B was bottoms up! Quite the opposite direction and Twin A was in such a awkward position. Would have been a perfect potty shot if she did the trouble (but it's too early anyways). Twin B was also twisted away a little but we could do the measurements. Heartbeats were 155bpm and 156bpm - mmmm same as my girls. But at least healthy!

I'm posting a few pics, sorry if I'm hogging the system.

Hello everyone,

Last week was quite hectic for me, I was in training and then had to catch up with work and all those nice things, but I did read the msg's when I had time to. Seems everyone is doing well.

More power to you ladies for wanting to use cloth, I would have to be convinced a little bit more before I would try them. Anyway, I am hoping to have my youngest primarily out of nappies by the time this one arrives, think that will just make life easier.

I have my scan on the 24th and I am nervous as hell!! We tried to "sway" girl but in all honesty, I think it really just comes down to a 50/50 shot and you will get what you are supposed to get. With a bit of luck we should be able to see what we are having, it would be a nub shot but the lady was right with my first two at about the same gestation so guessing she would be right with this one too, especially if its a boy, think those are generally quite clearly boys. Besides the gender of the baby, I am just nervous over all since I am classified as a (get this) "geriatric mother". What a horrible term to associate to a pregnant lady!! So hopefully everything is looking good with the baby and that he/she is healthy.

@Reese - post your scan shots, i dont know that I am the best at nub shots but I have been pretty right. Has the doc told you if your twins are identical or fraternal?

Hope everyone else is doing well :)

Hi there, this forum has gotten very quiet! Hope everyone is doing well.

I am feeling extremely tired these days. I have zero energy and I sometimes just feel lazy. I am also very short of breath so it takes me longer to do things. Other that that I am okay. I tried to eat a little red meat yesterday....huge mistake! I was so so sick!

So I discussed the cloth nappies with hubby and he just says no. He refuses to go that route. :( Says he will rather pay for the disposables and that he is having a nappy party at work. He didn't even want to listen to my research. I told my mom about it and I think she might consider buying me a starter pack. We'll see.

So if I'm not mistaken we have a few scans this week? Chanti - you are on 25th?
CarienM, can't remember when you are and Jay-Bee is in Feb?

Sparky, when is your first scan?

Not sure if you all know about the apparent "nub shot" accuracy but I posted a nub pic on some other websites but apparently it's not very obvious although one lady did say it looks pink. I am really nervous and excited to find out the genders of these babies.

Hope you all have a great week. Please update on your scans!

@Reese - thats a good idea! I think there is a website for SACNU (South Afircan Cloth Nappy Users). We live in Underberg, tiny town in the Southern Drakensberg and I will be using Hillcrest Hospital which is in Durban.

Wow thanks for all the info, Chanti! I don't have a facebook account but I'm sure I will be able to pick up a few things from websites.
I was also looking at the pockets and flats.

I'm thinking of buying the R3000 full time pack and try it with both babies (looks like I will be doing washing every day!) but I will do the disposables as back up and if it works, I'm going to buy two sets of the pockets.

I really need to try and save as much as I can so we can spend it on other important things.

It's nice to have a hubby work from home, but its also not easy having your own business. At least you will have hubby close by to help with baby and he will also be able to enjoy a few breaks in between work to spend some time with baby. Two hours drive to your doc? That's hectic! Where do you stay?

Hey ladies,

I'm so glad you are into the cloth nappy thing, I have a slight obsession and dont even own one!!! From research the best flats can be bought from Pokkelokkie, she uses Hemp which is highly absorbent. I want to use flats and covers for the newborn phase and disposables when I'm overwhelmed and then from about 5kg's I'm changing over to pockets, also from research the best local brand for pockets is Biddykins. Biddykins is about to launch new prints and as soon as she does I'm ordering! Join the fb group South African cloth nappy users, it has so much info and you can learn so much and see which brands are the best. I made my decisions based on polls that were run last year showing the best local brand. For a full time set it will cost about R3000 if you wash every second day which is a fraction compared to the estimated R15 000 disposables cost you from birth to potty training. You do get companies that will rent you a box with a variety of styles and brands and you can try them on baby before choosing which you prefer. Pockets and inserts are much cheaper than the all-in-one nappy, the only difference is you need to stuff the insert in the little whole once washed whereas the all-in-one is exactly that. The nice thing about the pocket is you can add more inserts and different type of inserts as baby becomes a heavier wetter.

@Sparky - The thirst is crazy! I'm sorry about your miscarriage :( Praying this baby is a strong, healthy baby and that your body will be the perfect home for the next 9 months.

@Reese - That is shocking about the leave! I hate it when companies have no compassion and treat their staff like slaves.

@Jay - Will your hubby get paternity leave? Don't pay attention to those dreams!!! They are only dreams and mean nothing!

AFM, hubby has his own business so cant exactly take paternity leave but hopefully things will be quiet for a week or so so that he can be home and help. He has his workshop at our house so fortunately he can also pop in and out during the day. He also goes with to all scans, not sure if it will change with subsequent pregnancies but for now its all so exciting and also nerve wrecking because of our long history!! We live 2hrs away from the doctor so I think for as long as that is the case then he will go with me. I was worried about being 2 hrs from the hospital and labour but I read that its more than enough time and just reading up on when the ideal time is to start heading for the hosp. But that's a way off still!
