@Chanti - thank you so much for the encouraging words. I feel so overwhelmed!
I am definitely asking for baby stuff this Christmas!!!

I wont be going back to that doctor. I will be going to my previous one. I need to contact them tomorrow to inform them of the twins so I am sure they will be able to tell me honestly what I need to do and where I need to go.

I just pray that there is a little boy in the mix. :)

That's so exciting Chanti. I have to say that I am not as exhausted as I was with my first pregnancies! Maybe its because my girls keep me busy. :-)
I also thought I was around 5 weeks so maybe with your next scan you will also be a little further along. :-)

@Reese- Oh my word that is so exciting!!!! Dont be frightened by the doctor, they love putting fear into you when it comes to twins! So many moms have a full term pregnancy. My friend just recently had twins, she was on bedrest from about 27 weeks due to a scare but then they ended up 2 weeks overdue! They are perfectly healthy little babies. They didnt need any special clinics, she had the usual scans. It seems to me like this doctor loves being the prophet of doom, why not find a gynae that has experience in dealing with twins and that will actually be supportive and not negative. Give hubby a little time, God won't give you more than you can handle! With regards to getting stuff.... make sure someone arranges a baby shower for you and accept help from anyone that offers!! You can do this mama! Congratulations. You need to find a support group of twin moms/pregnant moms who are wanting to stay as natural as possible, they will be the most calm and re-assuring. Do NOT allow this doctor to terrify you. Twins are not a death sentence. Go mama!!

AFM, had a little walk on my treadmill this morning just to help me feel a little better. Yesterday is the first day I haven't been exhausted in the last week. I'm meant to be 5 weeks tomorrow :) Counting down to that first scan :)

Morning Ladies. So I went for a scan yesterday at the doctor who couldn't find anything the first time and I am expecting TWINS!!! They are 6weeks already. I even saw the heartbeats of both!
I am so scared! I have no idea what to do. My hubby is in total shock and denial and has withdrawn from me. Just keep saying that we cannot afford it.

We haven't told anyone yet - not even the girls. Doctor was telling me what a high risk twins are and I have to go to some Fetal Development clinic who charges R4000 cash (can only claim back a certain % back) and I just don't have the money for it.

I know that God blessed us with these babies and I know that everything will be okay but I am so so scared. I don't know if I will have enough time to give to all my kids especially my older girls. I don't want them to feel neglected.

I'm so sorry for this post. I am just freaking out a little bit and cant even share it with anyone! I know my husband needs time to get use to the idea.

Do any of you know of people who had twins that can help with advise? Where do I start? I don't have any baby stuff anymore!

Hope you are all well.

Okay well I guess that makes sense. My oldest is 7 and my youngest is turning 4 in March! We have big age gaps because we weren't sure if we wanted more kids after the 1st.
My oldest was an emergency c-sec because apparently my pelvic bones were squashing her head at 38 & half weeks (although I think the doc used that as an excuse.) the second was also emergency at 37 weeks because I got a lot of panic attacks in the 3rd trimester because of stress etc. So her heartbeat was very slow.

I think I will raise the VBAC again with my doctor just to make sure that there is no chance of a normal birth.

My oldest will be 4 on Sunday and my youngest will be 2 in February, I know some say that you just need an 18 month gap between deliveries, but my doc told me before she is most comfortable with a 3+ year gap between deliveries for a VBAC. She was on board to do it with my 2nd one b/c the only reason I had one with my first is b/c he went into distress after long labour, but then my 2nd one was very big, he was 4kg at birth, and she was not comfortable with delivering him via VBAC

Oh Carien! We are so much alike! I also want to go for a VBA2C but my gynae (who also delivered both my girls) wont go for it and unfortunately I don't trust any other doctor as much as I trust her.

I have researched so much but also think it might be safer to go for another C-sec.

How old are your little ones?

Totally agree RE: gynae! I have been with mine for both of my previous pregnancies and will be with her for this one as well. I think the only reason I would move is if I find a doc that has experience in and is willing to assist me with a VBA2C which I think will be a stretch, and it is most likely safer for me and baby to just go with another csec. Not something I want but I have to think about the safety of me and my baby.
