file Burning the midnight oil together

Girly i remember those first few weeks, it was a nightmare. Liam used to poo after every feed so i would have to change his nappy at least 4 times a night. Now he can sleep through the night with one nappy. I don't burp him at night anymore because he doesn't burp in his sleep. It doesn't seem to bother him. He rarely sleeps longer than 3 hours at night. I don't let him wake up fully or else i would have to stay awake with him so as soon as i hear him waking up i put him on the boob. I used to feed him lying down but then i heard that it can cause ear infections so i stopped. Now he's going through the 4 month sleep regression so i battle to get him to sleep esp in the evenings. Sometimes we have to take him for a drive so he can fall asleep in the car. Miggie, i also created a bad habit by letting him fall asleep at the breast. That's the easiest way for me to get him to sleep without him fighting his sleep.

Michaela is 1week 2days now. She sleeps good during the day and i actually struggle to wake her every 4 hours now, then she'll pass out after 5min,then ill burp, try and wake her and start again, that can last anything from 1 hour to 3 hours and then its almost feed time again, so yes im also worried about bad habits. And no sleeping while she is sleeping for me.

Nights are a different story, she is wide awake, and i also do the feed, burp, change nappy, feed again then try to get her to sleep thing, but she can stay easily awake from 1 - 5 no probs.
Im hoping it will get better soon and that she'll realize that night times are meant for sleeping.

I'm just waiting for my new phone which is due to arrive next week and I'll be with you guys :)

I also don't burp Lilly after her night feed, luckily she hardly ever vomits anyway. I change her before the feed though, otherwise I can be sure she's wide awake! She has one long stretch of sleep per night, up to 6 hours! So hang in just a few more weeks, Girly ;)

Miggie you made me laugh! I can just imagine the sudden energy bunny getting everything right for the room at the early hours. Shows how much he cares :)

Nice that you got some sleep! I average 5 - 6 hrs a night which is apparently pretty good with a 5 week old; but thats from about 9pm till 9am that I'm counting. The last 2 nights I didnt get my 9pm nap though, so was really tough last night I was exhausted and K was up.
Kaylee usually feeds one 4 hr gap and then 2 or 3 hours later between midnight and 7am, but its feed, burp, change, feed again, rock to sleep so it takes up to an hour each time. If I dont give second feed after changing she wakes up a lot sooner.

Vash do you not burp Liam at night? I've read about a few ladies who feed lying down and then fall asleep and wake up later with sleeping baby next to them and just put them back in the cot.
But without burping that doesnt seem possible? If I dont burp K she throws a lot back up. Her digestive system is still developing - she's 5 weeks now. I'd LOVE to figure out feeding while lying down, but my E cup breast just drowns over her face!

How old are you LO's?
I find the evening feeds arent that bad cos she falls asleep quite easily after. During the day is worse cos after an awake stint she fights falling asleep, eventually I put her on the breast for 5 minutes and then she falls asleep. I think it might develop into a bad habit though.

The reason I'm up and checking emails / fbook / moomie early hours is cos I'm up for around an hour each feed so I need to kill time. But its rather boring cos no one is up past 12 really so I talk to myself and check my phone every few mins to see if anyones replied!

Im always up alone at night as baby is still confused about this day night thing so ill check in when i can to keep you company.

last night was actually the first night lg decided she'll go to sleep, but her chest didn't sound to good, hubby woke and asked whats wrong. i said im just a bit worried as its not bad but also not 100 percent. he was laying there and saw some light mould on the one wall (we have a very old victorian style home with a very high roof that we moved into a few months ago) he then and there decided it needed cleaning, so at 3 this morning hubby was washing all the room walls and had me put up heaters and the air purifier. so at 5 we get back into bed and i wait for lg to wake as its time for her next feed. and guess what, she only woke at 7. woohoo.... got some sleep!

hubby asked me yesterday how much sleep i get in a day and he was so shocked when i told him about 3 hours a day. seems it might be getting better, got about 5 hours yesterday, could have been 7 hours if it wasn't for the midnight cleaning.
