Hi all. Good grief I thought I had gotten over this, but I guess James had other ideas. It's my own fault though, he fell asleep on the breast earlier without having a full feed and I didn't bother waking him to finish. Luckily when they get older they get much quicker feeding so even when they do wake up more often you aren't up for ages!

@Girly, you just do generalised training in your undergrad, I haven't done my masters yet( I was supposed tostart my Masters in maternal and child health this year but some modules clashed with my EDD so I decided to wait) but all health professionals are expected to do ongoing training each year to allow themselves to continue to practice. At uni I loved paeds so when I went to the UK after my comm serv I got a job at the Edinburgh sick childrens hospital and focussed allmy development in paeds. It was hard coming back to SA because you are usually expected to be a jack of all trades and I landed up working half day in a private practice attached to a hospital where I ssaw mainly adult ortho conditions:( I started visiting all the paeds and slowlybuilt up a relationship because of my experience, so started covering the paeds in my local hospital and doing more developmental work. My fav is still high care even though it often makes me sad. When James was born I stopped working half time at the other practice so that I could spend more time being a mommy. A friend covered my patients so I could have a mat leave and I'm now back. I work my day around James and have a nanny for when I am at the hospital or with a patient(at home) I do keep ebm in the freezer for emergencies though in case I get it wrong:)
I also kick parents out, especially if I'm suctioning as it can be upsetting and parents often get in the way:(

Morning :) anybody out there? Fed Lilly an hour ago and since had to change nappies twice with the biggest poos of the year and now she's fighting to go back to sleep. Girly, we had a feeding frenzy today, too, L fed hourly the entire morning, I was so tired the whole day as my body tried to catch up with milk production. Good luck with the pouch tomo, they are life savers! x

Girly seems like we r de only ones not getting a full night sleep.
I was up @ midnight, just didn't get a chance to log in.

Sori to hear about ur maid, must be frustrating. We have some1 coming once a week also, but from Oct/Nov we'l get a nanny to help 3times a week. Then she'l come 5days a week from Jan wen I go back to work.

I kno de frustration of being house-bound :( I don't go out much with Una unless if there's some1 to drive us. I dread driving while she's sitting at de back alone.

Back to sleep for me.

Later

where is everyone? Was hoping for some good reading.

Patty hope your little princess have you some sleep till now.

Kaylee has been extra hungry today eating 3 hourly and taking the breast twice per feed a good 10-15 mins each time. She 's 6 weeks on Friday. Anothe growi spurt? I hope she will be able to stretch that out tonight.

So besides for being fantastic moms what do you all get up to during the day? What is your routine and how do you work around that when you go on outings.
We will take K out on a proper outing for the first time next weekend once she has done her vacs. I cant wait as we have been in doors since coming home except for clinic and doctor visits.

@ Claudia so you do paed physio. Where do you do it? Do you do hospital rounds too? They always biased us away when they did K's physio in ICU. Did you have to specialized your studying to paed to treat the little ones?

Forgot totally that i have a kango pouch from the baby shower. Looking forward to trying it out 2mor.

Do any of you have cleaners? We have someone on a Wednesday. I struggle with her so much because her english is not good. Last week i had fought to get K to sleep, had just done so and she took out the vacuum cleaner. So I asked her to do something else until K wakes up. So she takes out the broom, never did vacuum. And the week before i had some veggies and rice for lunch. I told her not to eat it all - it was a lot plus told her it was my lunch too. Next thing i know she is eating lunch - a pile full. She ate all of it! So i really do dread wednesday's cos i never know if she understands me. So half the time i dont bother with making requests cos it never goes as I wanted. Its such a pity cos if she could just speak english I could consider trusting her with Kaylee but i just wouldn't be sure she can follow the instructions for my daughters care giving't

kaylee went 5 hours between feeds now! So 3.5 hrs sleep for me, so thankful. But i still panick with such long gaps, im not used to it.

welcome Patty! Re burping i burp k for 5 mins lightly and then try leave her upright for 5 whil I type my reply. I dont seem to have a reflux issue at night touch wood.

So we would go buy the bottle brand thats difficult to drink from. Ive heard of only buying new teats of another brand and saving some money. Anyone tried this?
The bottles i have are bpa free.

Re studying i am doing the generalized degree not majoring. Took that decision after advice from career planner. So no major but focus was going to be transport economics. Now that i dont work at my old company anymore im not too sure whether i should stick to that plan. Thankfully i only have to decide in may next year and will see how its going at work what direction i might take.

When your babies were 6 weeks old how often were they awake during the day?

Burping time over now!
