question-circle What worked for you - what didn't?

Joyous I got it when she was 3 months old and regretted not buying it earlier. She started fiddling with it at about 3.5 months old and plays nicely with it now. But she was fascinated immediately and everyday got better at grabbing things. I would say from about 8 weeks or so would be best.

What worked

Receiving blankets - I used them as sheets, burp clothes, you name it.

baby carrier - kinda like a hands free kit

sleeping bag - kept him warm at night in winter when he kicks blankets off.

Pro biotics - Helped with constipation.

Swaddle wrap - helped prevent morro reflex which wakes baby

Nappy bin - but I still put the poo nappies in the outside bin

Large carry cot - his bed for 7 months

Rhubarb and custard sling - hated it when he was young but he loves it now.

Body vests - with 3 studs.

Pram - love my peg and used it for early feeds too.

high chair - again peg perego and it is amazing.

Honey dummy - yucky I know but he loves it.

Didn't work

Bottle warmer. Boiling water works faster.

Breast pump - Dylan sucked me dry

Rocking chair - Fed dylan in my bed or in the lounge

Wish I had bought

Mexican bola

Doppler

We had a thread going like this on PF and it was really informative for the pregnant ladies. Basically, what did you buy that was a waste of money? What was invaluable and what do you wish you'd bought?

Worked :
*Baby grows 0-3 months and a couple of newborn ones.
*Long and short sleeved vests. They don't ride up like t-shirts do.
*Pampers New Baby 1 & 2
*Huggies Gold from No 3 up
*Angelcare monitor. Such peace of mind!
*Medela breast pump (converted from manual to electric). Used it everyday for 4 months.
*Tommee Tippee bottles.
*Nuk dummies
*Pro-B2 probiotics. Convinced it shortened the length of colic as the paed said it would.
*A pram arch. Can be used on pram, car seat and feeding chair later. Definitely helped with co-ordination.

Didn't work :
*Colic remedies. None of them worked. I regret wasting my money.
*Pampers No 3
*Nappy sacks/bags. I still have a pile. I used alot in the beginning but only for poo nappies. Now that baby only goes once a day the mess is too big to fit into one of those little bags.
*Wall border from Game. Kept falling off and I refuse to use wallpaper glue and mess up the paint job. Took it off.

Wish I'd bought :
*A nappy bin. I'd planned to buy decided against it because they are quite pricy. But if I don't throw away nappies often enough my LG's room starts to smell like wee. (Poo nappies go out immediately).
