Hey everyone

How are you?
Been a hectic time, I've been promoted (not a lot of money more but at least the title is nice for my CV ;) ) and then I'm freelancing so very busy with all the extra work.

I've been home today because Z went into theatre to get a front tooth fixed.. She fell at the creche and broke it :( Shame, she had hectic pain so I'm just relieved that she's feeling much better now. I was really concerned since it was the first time that she had anesthesia but all went well. Our savings is R69 for the rest of the year, guys, so that gives a good explanation of how this year has been for us so far!! Flip.

I'll try to pop in later again to chat, need to go and fetch our little man first.
Can you believe that he will be 6 months old next week!?

Hi ladies

Helen - your kiddies sound so cute. Little Miss Diva Nina i see is going to make sure you keep up with all the latest fashion trends etc. So Cute. I agree re: getting Oliver speech tested, like you said its important to do before he moves to the bigger school. Funny enough i was talking to one of the lawyers last week and said that K doesnt pronounce "yellow" he still says "ellow" yet he can say "yes", "yo yo' etc. So she said her son who is turning 6 still says "ellow" as well and its just a few words that he doesnt pronounce correctly so he is going to s a speech and language thearpist. K's teacher said to wait it out to the middle of the year and assess then but she thinks it not to be problem and his pronounces other words well and speaks long sentences. etc.

Lisha congrats on the sale of your house and getting the price you wanted. Happy searching for your new perfect house :)

Angie glad Cole eating has improved. We are really struggling at home with K to eat proper suppers, all he wants is either toast, breakfast (he insist on eating cerelac), apples, banana's and yogurt. Now and again he will eat a chicken schnitzel or cocktail pork sausages or lasagna. Tonight im making a chicken hawaain stir-fry and i just know that he most likely will refuse to eat it because of the veggie grrrrr.

Ally it sounds like you are doing so well!!! Love the name of the book!! You have really stuck this through and because of this made such a success!! Well Done!!!!

afu, things are well. Dh and I were going through a rough patch with bickering etc. Think its part of every marrige though. K is doing well and has become so cute and cheeky. Last night we were sitting and doing puzzles together and when we finished he turned around and said to me "good job mom, I'm so proud of you" lol.

He is currently obsessed with tractors/forklifts and anything farm related. So we off to a farm this weekend as an outing for him.

Ally glad the twins are doing so well at school and picking up afrikaans so quickly.

Helen I think it's adorable that Oliver can be so protective of Nina ... guess the fighting is expected with siblings ;) Hehehe sounds like Nina is definitely on track to becoming a diva.
I agree re having Oliver assessed now for any speech issues. Shrey's school does it for all the kids in Grade 000 so that they can identify any issues and work on them now rather than later.

Angie so pleased that Cole is eating well these days, Shrey still has his days!

Hello everyone!!!

Simone aah almost time to go back to work. Well done on breastfeeding so long.

Helen, LOL at Oliver and Nina fighting. But atleast he is still protective of her which is a good sign. I'm sure that once Oliver is assessed his pronunciation will be sorted in no time.

Lisha, congrats on selling the house. Hope you find something you like soon.

Ally glad the twins are doing well at school.

Ankia, what a beautiful little girl you have there.

Nicole sorry to hear about K's fall.

Zee LOL at both of you fogetting your anniversary. Hope that you managed a special something for the two of you though.

AFU. Driving lessons going well. have not booked a testing date yet but will probably do so the end of the month. There are no more long waits though so will not be an issue.

Cole is naughty and driving me up the wall but on the flip side he is eating well which I'm happy about.

Hi Ladies

So nice to see the thread a lilttle livlier.

Lisha - Congratulations on selling your house, I hope you find something you like (and at the right price!) quickly.

Nicole - Eish K's fall sounds pretty bad, its amazing how quickly these things happen. Head injuries are the worst.

Simone - Congrats to you for keeping up the BFing for so long even though your heart's not complately in to it, I totally understand how you feel but well done for doing what's best for your lil man. I can't believe you have to go back to work so soon :( I hope the transition goes smoothly for all of you. And Addison sounds so cute with her little brother :)

Zee - I know exactly what you mean about not stimulating no2, I'm the same, with no1 you have time and energy to devote to reading up about milestones etc but with no2 there just isn't time. I'm pretty sure they don't suffer though :) They love watching and learning from big brother/sister.

Angie - Thinking of you often and sending lots of babydust your way, maybe a bit of a break from it all is exactly what you need. How's the driver's going?

Ally - It must be so amazing to see the proofs, must make it all the more real :) And so pleased the twins are settling in so well, they're lovely well balanced kids so its nice to hear they've adjusted well.

Nelria- How are you finding it back in the working world after a break? Hope its going well.

Thanks for all the kind comments about my SIL. She's doing ok for now, some good days some bad days but I guess that's how it will be.

Both kiddies are well. Asked Oliver's teacher about his speech as his pronunciation is still way off, its literally like he doesn't know how to use his tongue and mouth/lips to make sounds properly and she's agreed that we probably need to think about having him assessed, I'm a little disappointed but its not unexpected and as he'll be starting a new bigger school next year I'd rather he was ready for it as I'd hate for his speech to hold him back. She says she thinks its probably just poor muscle development in his mouth as the vocab is there, his vocab is actually very good but his pronunciations is way off so we'll see.

He's super sensitive and a funny boy at times (definitely comes from his dad's side of the family lol), he and Nina fight like cat and dog at home 90% of the time and its only 10% of the time that they play nicely, but, when we leave them with someone else he is SUPER protective of her and they are both extremely well behaved. Funny how they always play up for mummy. I got him a new pair of shoes as his old ones were falling apart, I bought identical to the ones he's been wearing but he point blank refuses them and wants to wear his slops instead (which is fine if we're not going far but he slips and slides in them when running about). I don't understand him at all sometimes.

Nina is going to be a diva of note, she is already starting to chose her clothes (god help me, she's 15 months old), she is a MASTER of the tantrums and is very independent. If she gets hold of a tissue she starts to rub it against her face as if to put make up on (she's watched me with cotton pads and sponges etc) and if she gets hold of a brush then she brushes it over her face like eyeshadow or blush lol. We bought her a dressing gown over the weekend, I tried it on her in the shop then she literally paraded around the shop in it and didn't want to take it off! Goodness only know how she's going to be as a teenager!

I've been very organised this year and hit the end of season sales, I worked it out, I've spent around R800 and both kiddies are totally sorted for next summer (apart from shoes) which I didn't think was too bad at all :)

Otherwise all is well, Theo and I are getting along better than we have in a while but we still have our ups and downs, I think that's normal. I'm playing in a badminton league now which is great, I haven't played the sport since I moved here 8 years ago so its really nice to be getting back into it and to get a little exercise as well. Thinking about what to do for my 30th which is in May, think we might just have something at home as the budget isn't going to be much at all but I'd really like to have some kind of party so we'll see.

That's it for now, I'd best get back to the grindstone ;)

Hi girls.

Good to see you're all doing well.

We're doing very well. The twins are loving school and getting too clever with Afrikaans. So glad they're doing well and that I've proved C wrong. ;) We've also had some issues with Aidan being a complete BRAT in the afternoons (due to being over tired I think, but he will NOT sleep until 4 then he's all of a sudden ready which is then too late) and he screams at us (like seriously YELLING), bullies Abi and we just didn't know what to do until C told him that everytime he yells his teeth grows long and ugly and now he doesn't yell anymore lol. Everytime he shouts we just calmly say "oooh gosh! Look at those long teeth" and he stops. Also works with eating sweets as C showed him pics of rotting teeth and now he's petrified LOL. Bad parents I know but it works!

Afm, everything's going well with the book. Got the first proofs last week and the lay-out is so beautiful. Going to be a really stunning book, if I have to say so myself. Also saw the cover design and it's stunning. The book's name is Simply & Delicious : Recipes from the Heart. :) Oh, and Nelria, it's being published in September. Don't have actual dates yet.
I've also been quite busy doing shoots and work for other publications, websites and clients so all and all I've been having a really great year. And now I'm going to be a Woolworths Master Chef blogger which is also pretty awesome. Hopefully if my work is good enough it will be a good foot in the door into my absolute favourite food shop!

OH! And then I'm also involved in the schools fundraiser which is a COOKBOOK! lol I'm taking all the photo's etc so that's going to be keeping me very busy in April!

Let me run, I need to get through a pile of admin before the kids need to be fetched! Will do a proper catch up with everyone later this week!

xxx

Hey ladies

Been too long ;) Hope you're all well and so are the kiddies.

Helen such heartbreaking stuff re your sil. Wishing you and the family lots of strength. She's been such an amazing fighter for so long xxx.

Ankia beautiful pics.

Simone Josh is gorgeous. Addy sounds adorable with him. Goodness I can't believe your time at home is almost up, enjoy the last few weeks my friend.

Julz Dylan sounds exactly like Shrey at the moment, but with loads more tantrums in recent days!

Nicole that fall sounds scary, glad there wasn't any serious damage, I would have gotten it checked out too.

Zee lol @ you guys forgetting your anniversary, shows how hectic things really are for you guys. Goodluck with Ziani's sports.

Angie hope you & Cole are keeping well.

Yoza when is your trip? Are you going alone or is the entire family going? So exciting!!! Wish I was going on a nice holiday right about now too ;)

Nelria shoo finally returning to the working world. Hope you enjoy it.

Shrey had a little fever this morning so left him at home rather than risk some stronger infection at school today. He's been very naggy recently but I try to ignore and have to be the stern one cos dh & mom just want to give in so that he'll stop crying. Otherwise he's learning things a mile a minute and loves school. He has 3 very close friends and looks forward to their playing sessions every day. Says the funniest and clever things these days so he's quiet entertaining.

Also good news, we finally accepted an offer on our house last Tuesday. We'll have to leave by 1 June so we're busy looking for a new place to buy but not rushing. We're willing to rent for however long till we find the perfect place for us. Got the price we were willing to negotiate to when we first listed so we were quiet chuffed. The listing agent we first used advised us to drop our price by R250k but we were willing to wait it out till markets improved and got lucky last week as our place was exactly what these new people were looking for. Going to be a hectic couple months sorting through 7 years of accumulated stuff!

Think I've babbled on long enough now and being summoned to a meeting. Hope you all have a fantastic week.
