Thanks ladies for allowing me to vent about my Saturday - feeling much better now

@ Cols - Emily is just over 10kg's at 18 months and she is a tall girl, so she is MUCH thinner than your boy - the kids eat what and when they want to - that's just how it is!! I have heard from lots of moms that the tods eat better at school when they are all eating together.

Robyn - glad all is going well. I hope you have an easier birth this time round.

EMily's been sleeping really bad lately - not sure if she is cutting more teeth. I don't know how you ladies know how much teeth they have!! I know that Emily has a mouth full of teeth, but have no idea how many - she does not keep her mouth open long enough for me to count. Even when we brush her teeth, I still can't see!! She recently decided that she does not want to brush teeth anymore so we bought her a battery one and now she LOVES it - go figure!! On Sunday night, I was just too tired to fight, so I sent DH to sleep in the spare room and I put Emily in bed with me after she had woken up for the 2nd time before 11PM!! Last night, I was up 5 times before midnight!! So, I just brought her to our bed again, but My mom was there, so DH had to stay in our bed. I just left her there until 2AM and then took her back to her own bed - at 5AM, DH had to bring her back to our bed again!! But he got up then, so at least she and I got 2 more decent hours of sleep. AT 7AM, she woke up all chirpy

Was so funny this morning - I gave her my make-up brush (as we do every morning) and told her to go and put make-up on her baby, she said: "Ma" and I said "No, your baby!". So she goes to find my ma and says to her: "Hello baby"

And how is this for a confidence boost. I was getting dressed on Saturday morning, I only have my underwear on and Emily comes walking into the room. She says "Eeeeeeuw". I ask: "What's EEEuw my baby?" She says: "Mommy Eeeeuw!!!!" Nice one EMily!!

I'm 8 wks
D turned 18m on Sun and she has 12 teeth (I think she's just over 10kgs now)

This pregnancy is going fine - managing to control the MS more and the dizzy spells are subsiding
Can't wait for 30 Mar - having our FA scan to see the sex! (and then we can finally start telling ppl,
altho I'm sure everyone will know before then as I'm feelign so big already!)
I am def going natural again (D was 3.2kg) but hopefully it will be abit quicker than my 25hour labour
and a failed epi

Cols shame man... thats MIL's for you, i really wouldn't worry they always think they know better... K almost always gets overfed when she goes to josh's mom... resulting in either her throwing up or just a generally horrible sleep night... and then its more chocolate and Sh1t than actual food too! I just limit the exposure... i have tried having the argument and it goes nowhere she won't listen. So as a result i think K has spent maybe three unsupervised days there in total... seriously just ignore it!

Evan is a very healthy looking baby, and you are an awesome mom! Same goes for you FG... If only the MIL's would learn that if they want to see their grandchild more often a little humility would go a seriously long way!

At the moment K is eating just about anything, but i find she really eats so well at creche that at supper time she i's only a little peckish... but when she is home on the weekend and we feed her lunch you can see that the creche isn't lying. She even eats the other childrens food if she can get it.

she is quite partial to sausage now that the top two eye teeth have come through, in fact anything she can walk around with and tear chunks off. And she is mastering the spork.... lol anything she can jab and get to her mouth. even watched her on saturday putting the food in her mouth with the spork and then spitting it back onto her plate.

Welcome Riffa! I hope you settle right in I had a caesar - Evan was 3.9kg @ birth. I wouldnt mind having VBAC if I conceive again and the next chappa is smaller. My Dr wouldnt deliver Evan VB because of his size. I had contractions and dilated to 2 1/2 cm before my caesar - OUCH Rifa, I went onto Yaz when i stopped BF. I had the the mirena before Evan and I loved it. You actually stop having full on periods after a few months. Everyone I know whose put them in since has loved them. Your gynae can do it in, in his rooms and it's less painful than a papsmear. Also it has no hormones so it shouldnt affect BF.

FLowergirk, ugh MILs! Mine's peed me off big time! Sorry about the house but maybe the offer will still fall through?

Robyn, I am sooo glad you are doing so well with #2 How far are you now? Are you on progesterone?

Jeanine, I also havent started potty training. Evan pushes his potties around and puts them in the bath ! Is he not getting more teeth? Evan's K9s are coming in

BabyK, poor John!! Tonsilitis SUCKS I hope he's on the mend! I agree, our boys are definitely on their own timing... Evan's on 12 teeth now.

This is my MIL vent, actually typed it last Thursday...
So had the family over for dinner for BArry's birthday. Ran around like a fool, worked from home, missed a deadline etc so I could be there and ready when they arriveD.

She walks in with an attitude, barely greets me and goes straight to the lounge. Barry wasnt home yet - only got home after 5.

I follow her into the lounge where she takes one look at Evan and tells me he's losing weight!! He isnt he is a thin child and is teething. Not to get into an argument I said I know and kept quiet. She proceeded to quizz me on why he's thin, what am I feeding him, what vitamins is he getting etc. Besides all this, she doesnt see him that often and when she does she tries to tell me how to raise my child!?!?!

I actually turned around, said I do what I can and there is nothing more I can do because I will not force feed my child. I walked out the room.

He is a notoriusly bad eater - always has been. Same as my brother. Even with this, he is still above 50th percentile. He is 18mo and weighs just over 12kg.

Barry got home to the same reception from her.

She actually had the nerve in december to tell DH & I we dont care what our child eats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If she could see what I prepare daily for MY CHILD. and what I go through with him daily to get him to eat maybe she'd shut up!! Just because I try not to make a scene about it infront of her does not mean I DONT CARE or STRESS or GO THROUGH HELL trying to get him to eat a healthy balanced meal!!!

I do not feed him junk food just for the sake of getting him to eat something. He is not a fan of fruit so he gets pureed fruit in his yoghurts. He hates any form of porridge but loves those weetbix bites dry. He prefers provitas to marie biscuits. Eats a little bit of toast / brown bread and apparently eats well at school during the day. But will not eat porridge with them and HATES any form of egg. Even french toast.

Right now he is teething, his k9s are coming in and 1 mollar is still cutting so obviously he wont eat. Also his tummy has been a bit upset. All this said though, even though he didnt eat infront of her last night, tuesday night he had 4 of those chicken/apple
balls (quite big) and oven bake chips!

Well, it's official - we are expecting no2 on 8 Oct!!
Had our 1st scan on Fri - all's looking well
(my gynae said DH can just look at me and I'll fall preggers! Cos I went for my check up in Nov,
told her we were going to start trying this year, went off pill in Dec, preggers in Jan!)
We've decided to only tell people after our 12wk scan (so we know if it's a boy or girl) but
it's getting difficult to keep it a secret as I'm starting to show already!!!
So far this pregnancy is the complete opposite of my 1st (well, my 2nd - 1st was a MC at 8wks)
With Dakota, I only showed at 6 months, had no nausea, dizziness nothing!
I just hope no2 (or Singleton, as we are calling it - as per gynae ) has the same sleep genetics as Dakota (she slept thru from 6wks) otherwise I will die - I need my sleep!!

FG - OMW I would have been so p!!!ssed as well
How on earth can she do that to Em! (and you cos you then have to deal with an over-tired child)

Potty training is going ok - I have a potty which MIL keeps at her place during the week and then weekends I bring it home, but I want to get one for us for consistency
If anyone goes to the loo, we put D on the potty and this morning I put D on the potty while I was doing my make-up in the bathroom and she made a poo (so proud )

I had natural and will be going natural again this time

Hey ladies

hope everyone had a good weekend. We had such a busy weekend and Emily was not happy to see me leave for work this morning

On Friday we went to look at a house that I completely fell inlove with - only to find that an offer has already been accepted The more I think about it, the more perfect the house seems for us. Very sad, but sure we will find THE ONE!!

Its been a long time since I have been as angry as I was on Saturday - I am still fuming when I think of it MIL asked me if Em and I would go with her to a baby shower in Malmesbury. DH was working this weekend so I said it depends on what time it is and how long she plans on staying because I need to make sure that Emily has a proper afternoon nap at home or she gets miserable. She then responds to say that we would need to leave home at 9:30AM and that we would leave Malmesbury at 12. I tell her that's perfect because Em usually naps at about 12 and she could fall asleep in the car. Easy peasy right???? We leave Malmesbury at 11:50 and EM falls asleep immediately. THen MIL tells me that she just needs to make a quick stop on the way home. Guess what!! She drives to Paarl!!! So that takes us 40 minutes just to get to Paarl whereas we would have been home in 30 minutes if we went straight. She apparently has to go and pick up meet for the old age home she manages. She leaves Em and I in the car and spends 45 minutes in the shop while we sit outside in the hot car!!!!!! I had the aircon running and after the first 10 minutes Emily obviously woke up. THen after entertainign her for 45 minutes in the car, I eventually had to fetch MIL in the shop and tell her how irritated I was. She then still had to drop off the meat first even though I asked her to drop us first!! All in all, my ppor child spent 3 hours in the car on Saturday after I TOLD MIL that she needed to sleep - at home!!!! I was and still am sooooo furious

Anyway, enough of that rant.

Riffa - I don't know much about birth control either, so can't really help

Morning Ladies

Well so a new week has started - I have no idea where last week went to!!!!!! It just flew by

Firstly I want to say how lovely it is to see how you guys interact with each other, it really is nice to see how you encourage each other and give advice and stuff!

BabyKsmom how is your little man doing? I absolutely hate it when my kids are sick! Jason had Bronchitis two weeks ago and had to put him on antibiotics (he is only 4 months old )

JeanineK I have heard that the Genesis clinic is amazing!!! It would be wonderful if you were able to give birth there

As for me, Like I said earlier this week has been HECTIC!!!
But Beth has been such an angel throughout such a busy week. I truly am blessed with an amazing little girl!
She has been sleeping through (from 7pm - 7am) since she was 12 weeks old - which I am so thankful for because I don't think I would have coped getting up for both my rascals.

It really has been nice hearing about your kids and how special and unique each and everyone of them are

Want to ask a question?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I am partly breastfeeding Jason (4 months old) and am taking Microval. does anyone know what are the chances of me falling pregnant with this pill?

Jason was a big surprise for us last year and I dont think I can cope with another surprise this year (imagine having a baby 3 years in a row )

Also has anyone used the loop or merana (sp?)

Sorry to sound so silly but the only contraception that I have been on is Yasmin and I really dont want to stop breastfeeding now, so I cant go back on that pill.

Any suggestions?
