Newborn and baby advice

Nicky - I'm going to the Baby Expo tomorrow, so that I can avoid the busy crowds on the weekend - if you wanted to, you could always join me? I know its far and a lot of trouble though, but think about it, ok?

I'm going to borrow your idea with the black and white patterns on plates, I'm going to design some on my pc later, print the pages and then laminate them, will start those with Connor tomorrow then! I also do little body excercises with him, but, goodness, with everything I've read about over-stimulation, I never friggin know when its too much you know? I'm also going to stop commenting on Connors sleeping patters, he he, I'm tired of jinxing myself

I would love to have my mom here , I only see them twice a year so I would give my front teeth to have her here.

Des,i'm also worrying about not doing enough for Liebe when it comes to awake time. When I took her for her check up the doctor held her under her armas and he said "loop n bietjie" so now everyday I pick her up and let her stand on her legs for about 10 seconds at a time. We also do tummy time and I will lay her on her back and pull her arms up an let her lift her back so that she is in a sitting position and holding her neck up ,the doctor also did that with her.I've also painted her some black and white stripes and blocks on paper plates and she loves looking at it. I also do the rattle thing shaking it from one side of her head to the other side so that she follows the sound.

I would totally die if my laptop crashed.

Lientjie , I also have to get myself presentable today to go to the shops but it's not easy as my bed is very comfy at this moment. Weird how we always just hoped in the car and off we went , now it takes so much flippen planning and it's just a mission.

I also jinxed myself with the sleep , I have decided to not talk about the sleep again just so that I don't jinx myself again.

I can't believe that in 34days Liebe will be going to creche , my heart is starting to break and I love work and really missed it during the first month of maternity leave and now that it is almost over I don't want to go back.

I also have tickets to the baby expo , but hubby works again and we have my hubby's family coming over this weekend to see Liebe.

Well I must start thinking about getting out of bed , hope you all have a fabulous day!!!

Lientjie - I don't see my mom very often, once or twice a month or so - so I think it will be a nice time to catch up, plus she will make me tea and cook for me and take care of Connor if I need a break to go shower or something ... And I won't have to be alone, I get very lonely when hubby is away for a few nights - I'm not afraid to be alone, its just nice to have some company...

What are you ladies doing with your babas when they are awake during the day? I'm always wondering if I'm doing enough or too much...so I'd like to get an idea of what you do!

So, we didn't have internet for almost a week either. I see a lot of you have had problems as well I think I'm addicted to google and moomie! Started feeling a bit edgy after 2 days without my "fix"!

@Mommy21 - I'm using the J&J conditioning shampoo for washing my LG's hair (a pink & white bottle). It's gentle and it also helped with her cradle cap.

@Des - my husband was also away a few times during the last month, but I preferred to just cope on my own. My mum would drive me up the walls within a couple of hours! I also had the same problem with the sleeping through - it went so well for a couple of nights, that I stopped sleeping during the day and then she had a bad night and I was SO tired.

WRT the dummies - my LG also prefers the NUK dummy. I tried the Avent one, because the NUK makes marks on her cheeks, but she didn't like it that much. She also gags on it sometimes.

Hey ladies!!

So, I jinxed myself by bragging about how well Connor had been sleeping at night because the night before last, he woke up at 1:00am and was unhapy and awake until like after his 7:00am feed - talk about feeling like a zombie, the only thing that made yesterday better was that I took him for a visit to my hubbys office and then we all went to Sandton city for lunch - which he slept through, niiiiice and peacefully!

@Scribblingal - how's the breastfeeding going now?

Is anyone going to the Baby expo at Northgate this week? I received complimentary tickets, so I now have 2 spare tickets if you are interested! Hubby and I are going tomorrow - should be fun I think!

I'm starting to get nervous, I'm taking Connor for his 8 week vaccinations on Monday - Hein will be away that week but luckily my mom will be coming to stay by me next week so I will have some help with Connor : ) I'm so looking forward to having her here with me! Hein will be away a lot for the next 3 weeks, I think I will just have my mom come stay with me then as well - good idea?

@Beansmom - you mentioned buying a sleep and colic tonic from a shop in CPT - what is the tonic called and is it working for you?

Connors sucky nappy rash is almost gone, just some dry skin patches left and new, clean soft bum underneath - I'm so glad, I hated seeing him with the nappy rash, it was just awful!!

I'm glad to read you are all doing well - Lea & Liebe seem to be sleeping very well, well done Nicky & Jacadebra - he he, I always envy it when I read about other babas sleeping well

Yah for the good nights sleep Jac , I'm glad i'm not alone on the comfort drinking in the evening.Liebe has been doing it for the past week , she drinks every hour or less until I give her her bath at 8 and then she drinks again about 60ml.I'm not complaining as I actually think it helps with her sleep , she slep from 12 last night until this morning just before 6.I actually woke up from her crying and thought it was somewhere round 2 only to hear birdies tweeting outside.Thought I was in a dream.

Ok so it can't be the cat she is allergic too as he has been around her from birth.So maybe she is just snotty.

Pinky , about the change of clothing style , it's weird I also changed my wardrobe , I'm still young so people always looked at me funny when they saw I was married or pregnant, I even chopped of my hair as I look like I just finished school with long hair.But now growing it again as I always said I want to grow my hair with my LG one day.

Mommy21 , I use a nuk dummy.Liebe sometimes gag but she still takes it.She even sometimes cry for it and I forget about it so after her crying and me trying to figure out what's wrong I should just always think dummy.

Welcome back Pinky! Our ADSL also had issues the other day. Yay for shopping!! Nothing like a bit of retail therapy - I think I need some too!!!
At least your LO likes a dummy - with my son the Nuk ones were the first ones I bought and he rejected them flat out lol.

Mommy21 - the one she will suck onto most is actually the avent one, strangely enough. I even tried a cheap cherry teat one as many people say their kids only suck those but no luck. The only one I didn't try was the honey one. I mostly want her to take it when she gets really windy/gassy because often then she wants to SUCK and I really don't want to be a human pacifier.. gets really tiring. At least like I say she might take it once every day or two... but lately she sucks on her right hand - not even the thumb, but the whole hand. Shame man. Confused me at first because I was hungry,.. just to realize she isn't actually. Oh well.

It's probably that top to toe then causing the rash.. their skins are so darn sensitive at this age. Hopefully it clears up for your shoot.
