Newborn and baby advice

Seems like we are all having a pajama day , the shower is waiting for me as well,hubby went to work this morning and I just got back into bed.hehe. Glad you ladies got some rest last night! Waking up after a night of good sleep these days feels like we've been on a holiday.

Zulu , isn't she maybe hungry or cold if she wakes up that much? Shame hope your nap recharges you.I'm orginally from George so my heart and soul is with the Stormers.You must have loved it Saturday when the Bulls won by so many points. I'm not a big big sports fan , would rather watch E entertainment ,Style Network or BBC food.

Can you belief how our babies have grown , Liebe is already 6 weeks old today , time really goes by fast and she has grown so much and her little face has also changed to much. In 6 weeks time I have to go back to work , it's freaking me out.

It's almost been a week and Liebe only wakes once during the night. I go to bed at 11 to she wakes between 2-3 and then I wake hubby up at 5 and she wakes at 6 and then we sleep.I don't mind the 11pm and 6pm cause that's not when I normally sleep so I'm in heaven.I also stopped taking Liebe to the living room when she has had her bath , I just keep her in the room with only the bedside lamp on.Seems to be working.

Jac,I cant live without my tumble drier , I really is a great investment. We stay in Heidel berg and here it get so freezing clod , last winter we had -3 one morning but it is mostly -2 so I use the tumble drier to heat up my clothing and will do it with Liebe's clothing as well when she goes to creche.

Des , your kettle sounds really cool. I prepare my bottle this way , I boil water and store it int the fridge (marked the bottle so no one touches it) , I then boil hot water and store it in a flask. So everytime I have to do a bottle I do half the cold boiled water and add half of the hot water int he flask making it the perfect temp. My friend had her baby last year and she gave me this tip. It's also easy when you go out , you don't need a bottle warmer you just take a 500ml flask and 500ml cool boiled water and wallah.I will let you know when I'm in JHB again then we can meet up for a coffee would be really nice.

How much is your babies drinking now? I have to go any buy Liebe new bottles as she only has bottles that can fill up to 120ml. I'm using Dr Brown but I think i'm gonna change to Avent wide neck or Tommy Tippee as the teats are the same shape.Dr Browns is just so much effort when washing and it really isn't as great as it sounds.

Hello Ladies!
Finally, a better night! Lia actually went 4 hours between two feeds.. woohoo.. hopefully she keeps it up - that would mean longer sleep stretches hopefully (although she was awake for a lot of that 4 hour gap, lol, not sleeping). After that she only woke every 3 hours at night and I only had to rock her a little bit before she went back to sleep. So I'm feeling a lot more human. I've been trying to spend much more time burping her. I figure even if I don't get much out, keeping her upright for a while might help the gas to move anyway.

Kinda sad that the long weekend is almost over, nice having hubby around to help a bit. Especially when Lia is more demanding. Hopefully I don't have to spend as much time rocking her back to sleep as I have been.. because I can see my toddler is going to flip. I will try to get some activities and snack boxes and things ready to distract him while I'm breastfeeding and/ or rocking Lia. Failing that.. we can always go for a drive somewhere.. that seems to put Lia to sleep quite nicely (thankfully because my son never use to fall asleep in the car.. it was weird lol).

Sounds like you are getting in some good rest Des! Awesome. Hope he keeps it up!!

Nicky - baby clothes shopping can be seriously addictive... lol, because there is SO MUCH CUTE STUFF!

I actually don't have enough very warm stuff at all, had to go and get a few fleecy outfits. With this rainy weather getting stuff dry is impossible - should invest in a tumble drier.

Anyway, enough rambling, Lia will wake soon and Dad & Jordan will be back from the shop.

Jaca: time really flies, they grow up so fast, my LG is outgrowing the newborn clothes, she was such a tiny queen, she's now on 0-3 months.

Des: u making me jealous with hubby, must admit though, i really missed my hubby when he was away though he's not much of great help.

Nicky: It's Blues vs Sharks this coming wekend, DH is a shark guy and my Bloed is blou.

How's Liebie doing?

I bought two veeery cute outfits at Naartjie, they send me sms when they have sale, ohhh my girl was gorgeous on Sat and Sunday.

My princess kept me up last nyt, she just didn't want to sleep, she would 30 mins and wake up, i'll take a shower then a quick nap.

Ladies, esp, Des how do u cope alone, i would have bn admitted in a mental hospital by now.
My nanny is so amazing with household duties and the baba i can't thank her enough.

i also have a headache, scared of getting addicted to the Mybulen, but it really helps me though.

Des, where did u buy the kettle?

Boohoo - last day of the long weekend today, hubby is back at work tomorrow *sigh* its been soooo good to have him home!! Anyhoo, Connor gave us a really easy night last night - I fed him at 7:30pm, then bathed him and he was sleeping by 9:00pm, then he only woke up at 1:00am and then again at 5:00am : ) - mommy and daddy got some gooooood sleep for a change!!

Ooooh, for the formula feeding ladies, I wanted to tell you, we bought this FABULOUS kettle on the weekend, its a Phillips, and it has temperature settings, one at 40•'s - which is PERFECT temp for a formula feed - its quick and works like magic, its made making fresh bottles really easy and quick and at the ideal temperature - I love it!! How do you all prepare your bottles?

Ooooh, Nicky the jacket you bought for Liebe sounds gorgeous - if you plan to come to JHB again, you must let me know, we can meet up at the shops for a coffee : )

Jacadebra - if/when you try the buscopan, let us know how it goes, k?

Des , you are making me jealous by posting that your hubby was home all weekend...hehe glad you could spent time together and that you had the extra hand.mmmh and the mac & cheese sound really yummy not to talk about the good red wine (which I love so very much) it's like therapy in a bottle when it's a good wine.You must also be very tired like Jacadebra with so little sleep last night.

Jacadebra , wish I had the cure for winds and gas , just had a conversation with my MIL the other day , they figure out everything and find solutions for everything but they have never come up with a solution to avoid winds and gas and then she said the reason might be that babies have to go through it to help them develop ,so that must be it. I hope the telement drops and gripe water works. I've started to add 8 drops to each of Liebe's feeds and it seems to be working. Sometime when I pick her up to burp her , the burp comes out and I just go THANK YOU.Nothing worse than a baby holding in winds.

Liebe and I went to Eastgate today , got her the cutes little brown jacket with polka dots on the inside... really cool.Have to control myself in the shops cause I would just buy her everything I see.
