CONGRATS again Beansmom! So nice to have you here with us! Tayla is beautiful (I meant to comment on the other thread with the photo but forgot)!!

That's great that things are looking up after your visit to the b/feeding clinic. Hang in there! Things will get better! Soon both you and little Tayla will have latching perfected :-). How are you feeling - are you managing to get some rest inbetween feeds etc??

Zulu - sorry I missed you - I left Moomie logged in and didn't see the post until later. My little girl is a month old... time really does fly! Glad you had a good weekend, hopefully you managed to squeeze in time for a little nap today. I find Baby City is usually cheapest for nappies - but I'm not sure if that's the case in PTA.

That's great that you had hubby home Des, nice to have somebody helping out. I'm sure your mac n cheese was divine!

Little Lia's still been a bit niggly - I think between the snotty nose and winds she keeps breaking her sleep cycles and waking up after 1 hour or sometimes less during the day so she isn't properly rested.. then she is alert and happy for about 15 -20 minutes then yawns and gets cranky because she is actually still tired and wants me to rock/walk with her and sing to her the whole time... ag shame man... poor little angel.
I'll see how it goes tomorrow and then I'll try getting something else for the winds, either that Green Mamba, Bennets COlic drops or Buscopan. Luckily as their little tummies mature these things don't really bother them as much when they get bigger. I've been making more of an effort to burp her.. gosh, I change burping positions several times, must look quite funny.. I must say though I'm not as thorough in the middle of the night because sometimes it wakes her up totally.

I hope you all get a great night's rest and enjoy your public holiday tomorrow!

Hello everyone...

I'm back!!!! Birth Story has been posted.... and I'm proud to be part of the newborn - 4 months forum with my little angel Tayla.

Breastfeeding has been a challenge until today... milk came in today and things are looking up after my visit to the breastfeeding clinic. Also the nurse at the hospital managed to split my nipple when trying to show me how to breastfeed which is making things a little more painful... but i'm pushing through all this and just hanging in there!!!

Hi ladies!!! How have u all been?

Nicky - so glad the rugby went well, even though u missed your little girl so much! We haven't left Connor with anyone yet, but, it will have to happen eventually....eeeek, I wonder how it will go : )

Jacadebra - sounds like u have had some issues - sorrrrry - its weird though, you have issues with too much milk - whilst I had issues with too little?? Go figure!! About the winds and gas issues, I always use Telament Colic drops and gripe water and it seems to work for Connor, but u mentioned it doesn't work for Lia - have u tried buscopan? I believe its very good - maybe worth a shot? Also, as someone previously said, tummy massage also works - I've tried it with Connor and he enjoys it and winds while I'm busy :)

Zulu - long time no hear!!!! How r u and baby doing? Glad you had a good weekend!!

My weekend has been fab, hubby has been home all the time so I've had help with everything - which has freed up so much time for me, I even managed to cook supper last night, made my famous mac and cheese - I even impressed myself! I've also had a few glasses of good red wine, aaaaah, wish I always had as much help everyday as I do when hubby is around, then I'd never complain....ever!!

Connor gave us a bit of a sleepless night last night, I was up from 3:00am - and he only slept at about 6:00am - eeeeek, anyhoo - I guess I can expect many more sleepless nights and he had given us 2 good nights prior to that so, I guess I should be grateful hey?

Anyhoo - its almost bathtime for Connor - time to get things ready for my little man, so his mommy and daddy can have a little supper and wine afterwards!!

Chat soon!!

My beautiful baby boy, Connor Troy, was born on 20 March 2010 and my 2nd gorgeous boy, Cullen Reece, was born on 2 September 2011 - I am very blessed indeed

Thanks Nicky :-)
I was pacing up and down passages with niggly baby until 11pm last night.. lol.. I was hoping for an early night, oh well.

I'm pleased to say though that she then slept for almost 3 hours so I got a good first stretch (considering). I was then up for 1 hour rocking her lol but luckily after that she went straight back to sleep each time she woke up.

Thanks for the info you looked up, appreciate it. I already do the bicycle thing which sometimes helps her.

I don't actually think it is what I'm eating. I don't do caffeine or nuts and haven't had broccoli or beans lately.. but I have noticed how my milk rushes out and how she clicks her tongue to try and slow it down and sucks in gas.. I've tried various things to slow the letdown but the supply seems quite a bit at the moment too so that doesn't help. I'll just keep trying to burp and to do various things.. luckily as she grows bigger she will be able to handle the flow of the milk etc better.. until then... grrr..
I remember my son had the same thing but he use to gag and come off, he didn't try and slow the milk down himself like she does lol.

How are you all doing? Been quiet on here so I'm presuming everybody is having a great long weekend!!!

Shame Jac , hugs to you , you must be so tired. I really hope you get some sleep tonight. It's not nice when you try everything and nothing works.

I found these tips on the net , hope it can help in someway.

Bust a Bicycle Move

Lay baby on her back. Gently grab her ankles and move her legs in a bicycling motion in order to get the trapped gas bubbles moving.

If you are a mom who breastfeeds, be sure to avoid gas-causing foods such as:

Caffeine (colas, tea, coffee and, yes, chocolate)
Dairy (baby may be lactose intolerant)
Nuts
Broccoli
Beans
