Newborn and baby advice

Took Emily to the baby clinic for her rotavirus drops - they were out of stock when she went at four months and the state strike didn't help the stock arrive. The woman said she's definitely ready for porridge and her teeth are moving down. Goodness knows how long it's going to take for them to surface, but i think they've been moving down for a while now.

So we started her on millet porridge this morning. She didn't do too badly - maybe had two full teaspoons after all the spitting out and face-pulling. Will report back on the poos ASAP - Desiree, it's very important to know what other babies' poos look like so please don't stop the updates;)

Bundle, Luke is such a little man already. Love the hat. I saw really nice ones at Woolies. They claim to have used UVB protection fabric. Now I feel bad for buying an el-cheapo one from Ackermans.

Pinky, that book is finally supposed to be arriving today so I'll tell you what Annabelle Karmel says about which veggies to start first. I know there's supposed to be some scientific thinking behind it, for example you can start sweet potatoes but not potatoes because of some or another reason I don't really know. How are you feeling? Are you over the flu?

Desiree, I just read your puke post. Had such a little chuckle - Emily did the same this morning. At least I didn't have to go into the office, just to the baby clinic, and I'm sure they're used to moms and babies looking and smelling like vomit. So.... did you change, or did you take a stand for working mommies everywhere?

Ok...so now that my morning has calmed down a bit, I can post! Connor had a lovely vomiting episode this morning...ALL OVER my work outfit....gosh, one minute I was feeding him quietly....the next there was milk everywhere, lol - he burped and out came all the milk all over my clothes...groseness! anyway, things got a bit crazy after that because I still had to finish feeding him....then change him....then change him again because he pood as soon as he had a clean nappy on, then I had to change myself....all I can do though is have a good giggle about it, because he looked very impressed with himself.....was grinning from ear to ear infact!! the little bugger, he he

@Bundle - Luke is just too gorgeous for words!!!! Connor has that little hat as well, dont you just love the Naartjie clothes? Have you tried Pumpkin Patch as well, just loooooove their stuff!

@Bundle & Pinky - When I first started Connor cereal he was on the Purity Rice cereal - but now that its been a month, I've changed him to the Nestle Gold Cerelac - Cranberry & Apple cereal and he LOVES it, plus, its full of such good stuff - and it has been fabulous for his tummy - his poos are really smooth & consistent - so he's happy little boy!! And I swear its since he's been on the new cereal.

@Claudia - your James is also a cutie btw!

@Bundle - Luke is adorable, beautiful little boy! I have started Karla on rice cereal... she enjoys every bite... I started with purity, apparently the cerelac has dairy in and sugar I heard... I would love to use that rather as well, because you only have to mix it with water and not breast milk or formula... ( it can be a mission every time you have to express just enough for the purity!!) I think I might wait still a while before I go on to cerelac...

Karla is taking a nap now, so now I have some time to myself... or lets rather say time to clean the house, do the washing and study!!!!

Hi Ladies, wow I have not been on for a while and had to go back 3 pages to read all your posts, all the babies are just too adorable!!

Started Luke at Daycare this morning just for 4 hours so went to fetch his at 12pm and it went well...I survived..he..he.

I am back at work on the 1st Oct, not looking forward to it, but atleast I will be working 9-3pm so I can spend time with him in the afternoon.

Luke has his cereal in the mornings and in the evening he has veggie. He loves butternut, and we are trying squash this week. Then will try carrots.

Is everyone giving their babies rice cereal, I would like to try the normal cerelac but not sure??

Okay, sorry to everyone for causing offence and I dont want to cause a bun fight... I just wanted to say that reading back I can see how what I said seemed insensitive, but it was never intended that way. I was actually replying to Bronz comment about how she had been told by a bottle freeding friend that breastfed babies arent meant to get sick, and it touched a raw nerve because I have been getting a lot of flack from people that have said that exact thing to me ("I breastfed my baby but he kept on getting sick and my daughter who was bottle fed didnt blah blah), So I generalised and I'm sorry. That statement did not mean ALL people dont get it.

Secondly I dont think people who bottle feed are less of a mother either BUT I get very sad that so many people are unsuccessful at breastfeeding (when they choose to do so) because of poor support. My cynicism with the South African Private Health Care system grows daily - again I do think we have good docs, just that when money is involved there will always be flaws (again this doesnt mean I embrace the state sector either, plus even socialised countries like the UK have health care issues - I just wish we could find a happy medium..)

I type and post often without reading over, because I go on moomie during 30 sec gaps when James is sleeping/in his gym and I dont have patients, so I do often "post without thinking" and I'm sorry. On that note I a group of 10 of my close firends all have had babies in the last 7 months. I am the only person that breastfed past 2 weeks, the only that had a NVD and one of 2 using cloth nappies. I am often the brunt of jokes which also gets my back up a bit.
