Newborn and baby advice

Wow - a lot of firsts happening here. Adri, Kara is so damn cute I could eat her up. That smile is worth the wait! And well done on the sleeping. Fingers crossed it will be the start of many nights sleeping through. Just hang in there and keep sticking to your guns. Your mother in law probably means well. And it's not like she can spend time with Kara every week. Once she goes back she won't see her for a while and it's also hard on her.

Desiree, well done to Big Mr Six Months Old on rolling like a champion. Can't believe he's already such a big boy. He's like the trailblazer. I know that if Connor's done something Emily should follow in a few weeks' time.

Claudia_B I would just like to say that I take offence to your "people who don't breastfeed don't get it" comment. First of all, it implies that mothers who breastfeed are better or know more than mothers who bottlefeed. I understand that breastfeeding is very important to you and that you are willing to make it your life's mission, but please also understand that what works for you may not work for everyone and it in no way means that people who choose not to breastfeed are wrong. I also do not want to get into a discussion about the merits of breastfeeding or the advantages of formula (yes, believe it or not there are advantages to formula). All I want to say is that I know your views. I also now know that you believe that people who bottlefeed their babies just don't get things. But new mothers are sensitive. We all want to be good mothers and we all want the best for our children and we ALL bumble along wanting to believe that we are doing the best we can. All I'm asking is that you show a little more sensitivity and openness. We are all learning. And nobody knows more than the next person, even though they may think that they do.

Good morning Ladies

Happy 6 months to Conner. Congrats Desiree, are doing a great job. You can see he is a happy healthy baby. I am sure that weekend away was well deserved.
(I hope I did not say anything to cause offense, If I did I am sorry and it was not intended too)

Adri, Kara is edible, too cute. That smile is too gorgeous, I can see why she saves it.

We went to a friend's house for a braai on Sat and I bathed Graeme there. Two of the women came to keep me company while I did so. I stripped him down and he managed to wee in one woman's shoe. Shame she was a bit shocked but got over it. Oops.

@Adri - she is GORGEOUS!!! and yay 4 you about the fab sleep on Saturday night!

We also had some firsts this weekend - Connor is officially rolling - BOTH ways, front to back and back to front - the little bugger was rolling all over the place this weekend, I had to watch him like a hawk. His playmat wasnt big enough for him and I found him rolling off onto the tiles everytime!

Our weekend in Clarens was awesome, we had such a good time. Oh, and its Happy 6 Months day for Connor today - can't believe my little man is at his 1/2 year mark!!

I had a few other things to comment on, but, I am biting my tongue and counting to a gazillion today...... Im trying my bestest to remain a happy chappy today, he he!!

Adri she is looking soooooo cute!!!!!!

@ScribblingAl - My husband is British and his family lives in England, so his parents came over to see Kara. I actually suggested they came over for 2 or 3 weeks (it was the right thing to do), and it ended up in his mom being here for 7 weeks. You can just imagine all the 'good' advice I get everyday...

But, I must say, it's sort of a blessing in disguise as she's looking after Kara in the daytime which means a month extra that she does not have to go to daycare. Which means she's actually doing me a big favour so unfortunately can't scream at her . Bitter-sweet.

But I'm getting better at just putting my foot down and doing what I feel best no matter what she (or anyone else) says. And everytime it gets a bit easier and I manage to just take it in my stride and move on without getting too upset.

The good news is this weekend I had two firsts:

1. Kara slept from 7pm to 6:15am on Saturday night!!!
YAY!!.

2. I managed to get a picture of her with her big smile

@ Bronz, People that dont breastfeed dont get it, I tried explianing to someone once that more often then not people give up breastfeeding because its hard and dont realise that it doesnt stay that way:) Whereas with formula you are always preparing bottles - it will never get less work:)
I decided to join laleche league and want to become a group leader and maybe go on to help other moms realise that the feeding hourly in the beginnin does not mean that you dont have enough milk:)

Had a baby shower for a friend today, and tomorrow going to a bday party of a friends 2 year old. Not exactly the most rocking weekend:)
