Ok Im going to try not post again within 30 mins
thanks Joli for the number!! What midwife are you going to? Do you have to go to a gynae then that is part of Genesis or will there be one on standby?? I dont want to permanently go to a gynae in jhb if I were to choose to give birth at Genesis!!
Shols, I almost think being itchy is part of pregnancy? And this time of the year is extra bad because one's skin is so dry after a long winter. Just use lotsa body lotion or bath oil and dont take too hot baths that dry out the skin. (you should take hot baths anyway during 1st trimester).
Ok so Im going to type that lowGi quiche recipe for those who would like it: (sorry Im translating from my afrikaans book)
It makes two quiches that each gives 4 pieces.
250ml tinned or cooked butter beans, drained and mashed finely.
200ml Fatfree milk
4 eggs
10ml mustard powder
5ml salt
2ml freshly ground blackpepper
125ml drained pineapple pieces
1 tin tuna in brine, drained
1 tin asparagus, drained
120g low fat cheddar cheese, grated
* Mash butter beans with 100ml of the milk
* Pour into a bowl and add rest of the milk, eggs, mustard powder, salt and pepper and mix well.
* Divide mixture into half by pouring half of the mixture into another bowl. Add the tuna and pineapple pieces to the one bowl and mix.
* Pour this tuna mixture into one baking dish/baking tin that has been sprayed.
* Pour the remaining mixture into the other dish and pack the asparagus into the dish.
* Sprinkle grated cheese over the two dishes.
* Bake for about 30min at 180degrees.
* If you dont like pineapple with the tuna you can leave it out or substitute with onions.
* If you dont like any of the ingredients then just substitute with anything else like left over cooked veggies or little bit of biltong.
* After dividing the 2 quices you should end up with 8 pieces. Each piece is a portion for lunch and should be taken with salad and if you need to add a carb then just add 1 slice low gi bread.
* Another tip: Add any sour things like lemon juice, vinegar, balsamic to your salad, that makes the gi even lower and thus being even less fattening!
I made mine with tuna and onion and the other one with babymarrow, onions and carrot, all grated in. But I do find them to be a bit watery so I think just lightly frying the veggies before adding them would be much nicer!! Then only use small drop of oil for frying.
Ill add the low gi muffin recipe later on.. I really need to get dressed now
