Hi ladies

wow what a day yesterday. Matt was IMPOSSIBLE!
He only slept a total of 2 hours between 10am-8pm. By 6pm he was totally overstimulated and hysterical. (I had spent the entire day trying to get him to sleep!!!! He would nap 10 minutes then wake)

Well I had a bath with him - DISASTER. He was so tired. But he hadnt been drinking properly during the day so he needed to eat a full bottle before bed so that was a fight too.

Eventually he slept at 7:30, but over the next hour we had to go up 4 times to re-settle him. Finally at 8:30 he was lights out until 2:30am. He fed, back asleep by 3:45. Then woke at 5:15 He didnt want to feed, only drank 20 ml. Then kept falling asleep. I would put him down, he'd wake 10 minutes later...sigh....
At one stage I thought I had the opportunity to pump so as the milk started flowing he started crying

Finally he did sleep and I pumped and told DH he'll need to hold Matt if he wakes before going to work. Which did happen but luckily I was finishing off pumping anyway.

Then I fed him the left overs from the bottle and he fell asleep so I brought him into bed, lay him more onto his tummy than his side in my arms and we slept for an hour and a half

Then tried to finish off the same bottle (!!) which he did and slept for 30 minutes. Now he is playing under his play gym. Need to make sure we dont have a repeat of yesterday. DH and I were totally drained by the end of the day as we never got a break!!!!!

Schatsie good luck today! Glad you're on the ball and keeping an eye on the situation and whatever is found today can be addressed quick quick! So glad for you re the bf situation, sounds nice and manageable. We are the same re travelling with W - we're going to cape town soon for a week (staying at houtkapperspoort in constantia nek sooo pretty there going to take W hiking, to Kirstenbosch etc!) Dying to get W into a pool how fun you could take A - the nappy must have looked hilarious!

W remains sooo good - oh my word this child is awesome. This morning he woke up BEAMING (again!) kicking and carrying on whenever he caught sight of me or dh he'd kick and wave the little arms and smack his mobile for good measure! I can't remember if I told you ladies about his little impromptu concert the other morning (sorry if i did!) he coo-ed and gurgled and shouted and laughed for about half an hour non stop we were laughing so much. Now most mornigns he gives us a little performance. He's feeidng nicely (NAN HA) four hourly the nanny is great and makes sure if need be he feeds earlier but we can distract him usually and he is in a nice calm routine. Still hardly ever cries. he is sooooo sweet I just adore him. I particuarly love his sweet nature and his little smile and his cute little body getting bigger and bigger. I've spent a fortune on outfits for him recently (naughty!) can't resist, must reign self in now!! will be bankrupted!!!! He is now over 5.5 kilos the little munchkin! sleeping beautifully at night depending on last feed up once during night (i.e. before 6am) or twice totally manageable we are so blessed.

BettyF I still BF on demand. Last night we were at my parents and he fed something like 4 times in 4 hours, so it was a bit crazy (probably another growth spurt), but most of the time it is 2 to 3 hours apart, (sometimes 4 hours at night if I'm really lucky!) which is manageable. I was thinking yesterday that I really have been super lucky with the BF so far as I have plenty of milk, A has latched perfectly since day 1 and I have had zero problems with sore nipples or any other problems! (Touch wood!) And all this after I was so worried that I might not be able to BF since my boobs are so big!

Faw good luck for your first day back at work! It must be really hard leaving baby at home! I have absolutly no idea how I'm going to cope with that, although I am also looking forward to going back to work and all my colleagues. I'm hoping that having my lovely nanny fully trained by then will help. I've been training her this morning and so far she is really great. She even changed A's nappy without him making a peep - most of the time he screams when we change his nappy.

I've decided to tell my boss that I'd like to go back mid July - I originally told her 1 July, but want to be home with A for a full 3 months. Luckily the guy who's temping in my place said he would be available for longer if need be, so it should be fine.

I had an abnormal pap smear at my 1 month post birth check up and it is the 3rd abnormal one already. They couldn't do anything about it last year because I was TTC and then pregnant, but now it needs to be addressed urgently. So I have to go for a colposcopy (where they examine the cervix under a microscope in the doctor's surgery) at 15h30 today . My sister already had surgery for a similar problem and my grandmother died from cancer related to something like this, so I am really dreading this whole thing!! I just hope that they catch it soon enough and that it hasn't resulted in cancer due to the treatment delay because of my pregnancy!!

Hi. I am having a challenging time with abdul. He screams most days all day and is battling with wind hence the screamin. Today it started at noon and now its 10pm and im still battling. Im still breastfeeding and gona continue, express during the day and feed at night for as long as i can. Sulaiman is great, getting bigger every day. Today he was given a slide.. He loves it. Abdul was given a compactum today. They are so spoilt.
My dad is out his wheel chair and walking with a walking stick.
Meags sorry about your brother.
Betty i am feeding on demand but it seems to be 10 to 30 minutes in total and the times are the following generally.. 6am, 9am, 12noon or 1pm, 3pm or 4pm, 5pm or 6pm, 9pm, sometimes midnight, 2am or 3am and 4am, if 4am then again at 8am and misses the 6am feed. Hope that helps and i pump at 8am and between 6pm and 830pm depending on when i get a chance. The 8am pump will be after the 6am feed so i can get to work.

Betty - sounds like little one likes been out and about with you.

AFM - dropping DH at airport tomorrow morning then fetching mom from hospital. SHe is staying with me for 3 days so now will have a baby and a sick mom to care for! At least nanny faith is here for the next week Been a pretty busy weekend, but have at least caught up on sleep.

Hi ladies

We have really had a lazy Sunday! Just stayed in, did absolutely nothing...

Was a bit tired after yesterday, went to look at a local school, then took M to the library and did a shop at pick n pay. Sarah was really good and slept most of the trip. I also carried her in the kango pouch, which she seemed to love.
In the afternoon my mom, sister and the cousins came over for a visit

Kimika- how did your cake come?

MissesMom- still need to get used to your new name
How is Kate, is she still wanting to feed so often?
I was wondering how the other BF moms are coping? Whether they are in a routine, or just feed when baby routes? I have been feeding when baby routes, but feel like I am stilling with boob in baby's face all day. Although I am still enjoying the BF, it would be so much easier in some kind of routine.

Faw- great to hear from you, glad you got a new phone, unlucky your old one got stolen
How are your little boys? Well done on the new job.
