Also wanted to add that 95% of women are able to achieve a natural birth, it's only 5% that are considered high risk and would need assistance or intervention.

I can not speak for everybody, I only speak for myself. I had six natural births, and I only had a pethindine shot with one birth. The rest were drug free. Two were at home, unassisted. I have a very one sided opinion, I am very pro natural. That is MY choice. I can not stand that so many "doctors" bully an unknowing mom into a c-sect just for teh sake of convenience.

Like Julz i am also pro natural ,but keep in mind that the birth is not always as plan.

if there was any complications or emergency the doc must do what is best for baby.
I gave natural birth with epidural,i made the choice of pain relieve to assist the labour.
Healing is also quicker no cuts and stitches to take care of.

This is quite a contraversial topic as people seem to get quite defensive about their choices here!

I'm from the UK and had both my children there.
My 1st was a long (14 hour) painful natural birth, episiotomy, 2nd degree tear and a few weeks recovery.
My 2nd was a home HypnoBirth (the inspiration for my becoming a teacher) 1 hour 48 minutes total, pain-free and no medication.. zero recovery time! I sat and had a curry when he was less than 2 hours old and was shopping in the supermarket the next day.

It's important to remember that a caesar is major abdominal surgery so the recover will always be longer than for a straight-forward natural birth.

I have taught lots of moms to prepare for a VBAC, they have all said the natural was easier to recover from than their caesar.

I also had a friend that had a 3rd degree tear from a mis-managed natural birth so opted for a caesar for her 2nd, afterwards she said she would have the 3rd dg tear 1000 times over than the section...

(**Disclaimer** These are experiences that have been shared with me personally, I realise there are always exceptions)

I am pro natural but understand you wanting a c section.

Hope this article helps.

I also had an emergency c section which is the same as a regular one only a bit more rushed.
