file CEASER VS NATURAL BIRTH

One last thing about the fatality rates - from my doctor friends I asked to comment on this - firstly the studies are still from the 90's things have changed some what.
Secondly the studies are US studies, and the majority of c-sections are emergancy ones, hense a higher mortailty rate, so they are not really fair studies.

Nelria - possibly I am speaking to the wrong people, or reading the wrong literature, but I have not heard/read an incident where a c-section has gone badly for a mom or a baby

(I am excluding emergency c-sections which are a different kettle of fish, and one does not know what distress the mom or the baby was under prior to the procedure.)

I am not saying c-sections do not go badly, I am simply commenting on the "sample" group of people I know who have had c-sections have suffered no ill effects.

I have however known moms who have gone through rather traumatic vaginal births - and either had babies who have been born with problems linked to the birthing process, or suffered some sort of problem following the vaginal birth (a tear so bad, that it required several operations, on going urinary issues that requires several operations and so on.)

However I am not saying all vaginal births end in problems - of course I know dozens of moms who have had very successful vaginal births and got up to do a load of washing and bake a dozen muffins afterwards.

I am sure there are a hundred links of statistics to pros and cons of both - I just wanted to raise the issue, that personally I do not know one person who has suffered ill effects from a c-section, but I know several how were "damaged" following a vaginal birth.

thanks julz

emsmum - my natural experience is on pg 5 so that is why i stress that I have had BOTH experiences therefore can relay info on BOTH

with natural - i also didnt get suppository or enigma my bowels went in toilet like its suppose to :)

when they feel if dilated its a quick motion like gynae did with his checks - so nothing new - compared to wiping and doing pad exchanges

gloeiwurmpie - what i said is yes the experience was more traumatizing due to own mood but u said its made more traumatizing but my list isnt traumatized that is what happens - how u experience it is up to u - if u dont mind excruciating pain when u cough or sneeze thats up to you but for one would not opt for it willingly

ladies do whatever floats your boat - dont even care what others think - but ask a gynae the process to be informed and why not try it the way nature intended first? before opting for a man made solution?

and none of u comment on the fatality rate being 3x higherfor both mum and babe during c-sec? if anybody mention yes i will cut u open and u have a 3x higher risk of dying mmmmmmmmmmmm i would say no thanks dude

Okay so I am reading the comments and they all have valid points.

I just want to add that when one mom says her experience was xyz she should be acknowledged and supported. There is nothing worse in the whole world than being told your feelings are unjust regardless of the event.

It's like someone saying well at least you have your son. I know it is meant in the kindest way, but it makes me feel that I have no right to feel dissapointment for myself. A mom who does not have the birth she truly wanted will feel huge dissapointment.

The original post was was about c section vs natural with hope seemingly wanting a c section. All experiences are good to hear so maybe we (myself included ) should just post our own experience and then walk away and let hope make her choice rather than comment on each others experiences?

What do you gals think?

and i think for years to come this subject will apear with no right or wrong answer as each to its own... whe have pro c-sec mommies and doctors who will defend it and then we have pro natural mommies like myself who will defend it..... but at the end of the day a beautifull baby is born....
