Great topic Gals :) can't believe I missed it

Julz I love what you said "We think they will be lonely and we think that they will be alone in the big wide world, but maybe they won't be. I really try to not decide for my child how he will feel".

Medical reasons forced me to sterilized 9 months after giving birth. The idea that our Lwandle will be the only child has sunk in our thick skulls and we have never even lost some sleep coz of it.

What I am planning to teach my son is that a person doesn't have to be your blood relative to love and care for you. I strongly believe in God and what I have experienced in my personal life is that its not (most of the time) my relatives who come through for me when I am in need, but people whom I have no blood ties with.

I am a first born and I spent my entire childhood alone (but never felt lonely) since my mama had my brother while I was in Matric and he is now 12 years old. I never even wondered how my life would have been like if I had a sister, I just accepted and I pray my son accepts it too and have faith in God that He will be by his side even if I am not there.

I also enjoy packing away the clothes he has outgrown knowing that they will be passed on to his first born. This also makes me cherish him even more knowing that there won't be another. I also don't think I can love another child like I love my son, he is just something :)

I just love this topic as this is something I've been juggling in my mind for quite some time.

My daughter is turning 4 in October & I'm struggling with the decision if I want another child for various reasons. I think it is something that will come naturally & you will just know for sure when the time is right cause we were planning on getting married in Dec 2007 BUT the urge in having a baby that time was bigger than the need to get married

Nothing else mattered at the time. All I wanted was a baby. We could still get married afterwards & that's what happened. I was 24 at the time.

I think I'm struggling in deciding for a lot of reasons. I want another baby on the other hand but I'm also not sure if I'm up for it. Being a working mother & not having a cleaning lady at home makes it rough on me, financial worries(I don't believe in having another child if you really can't afford it), Will my daughter be jealous of another sibling & will she be ok with it cause she is a scorpio & she does get jealous when I play with other children but she also loves playing with children???? :S

Then you get the pressure from friends & family that your child can't be alone & they need a friend(which I also feel is important) but we also need to be ready for another one as my daughter is very hyper & busy but she is also getting a bit older & might calm down when there is a 2nd one........... This is what I'm struggling with every single day.

I also wonder or feel that I'm not sure if I want to share my love as my daughter means everything to me & will I love my 2nd one just as much as my 1st - does this make sense??? I just sometimes feel like I still need or want to give all my love & attention to my daughter as I enjoy her so much.

Hopefully, I"ll know when the time is right but I'm torn at the moment. I also wonder if I will be able to handle 2 children, work, cleaning house, giving attention to hubby et............ ai,ai,ai

At this point in my life, I think 1 is MORE than enough for me. DH made me promise to reconsider in 2 years time though.............................. I'm hoping I don't suffer from memory loss and remember the sleepless nights and days of constant crying in 2 years time.

Kids need love not material things and it is amazing how you manage to afford things when you have to.

Rm like you say car or kid. It's as simple as that.

We have xmas sorted. My friend has a huge xmas get together at their home. Santa, light and carols and many many children. Dylan is going to have a ball.

Oh and our dogs are our kids too. :)

Mom of Dylan and Partner to Joerg. We live in the Beautiful Pringle Bay which is along the Whale coast, Cape.

I'm an only child.

I have one bio child as well. Have 2 SC. DH only wanted another 1 due to the fact that he has 2 from a previous marriage already.

I would've loved to have more than 1 bio child, but at least I know that I can do and give only the best for my LO.
