Also something else to keep in mind for all of you really, there are mommies who aren't 100% english and how they say things might differ from how you would say the exact same thing. I wasn't brought up English or Afrikaans so my sentence structure differs.

Oh and Lisa, people really do get very excited and scream at their computer screen!

I don't really care if you comment as admin..seriously..I don't think there is anything wrong with it..as I said...I do from time to time too....your a mother and you have opinions and I respect them..

As for googling topics...I do it to keep the mothers on our website informed..so they can make educated choices..nothing wrong with that...if they choose to read the advice and do the opposite..so be it..their choice..but at least they made an educated one and 99% of them really appreciate it

Anyway.....I just needed to voice my opinion...I was very upset by Julz remark, not because it hurt me but because I was upset she had taken such offense...I think you're lovely Julz...I've spoken to you in real life and think your a wonderful mother, I was hurt after your reasoning though about me commenting due to being admin when I know very well Moomie admin comments from time to time too and you don't seem to have a problem with it...thats complete double standards..

Anyway...thats about it...I'm tired and it was all blown completely our of proportion, I've writing how I felt...and I feel a hell of a lot better now...*sigh*..

How is a statement like "you haven't seen nasty yet" (from me) a threat. I was very calm during the whole discussion, I was playing with my little girl in between, not screaming at the computer screen. If you see my comments as being sarcastic then that is the tone you read in it. It wasn't the way it was written and had this taken place in real life both you and I would be laughing over a cold drink about it.

Just remember when you read comments (not you, but everyone) that you might read it in the tone in your head that you are feeling at the moment you read it. So you might read snotty remark but that is not how the writer wrote it at the time.

About being admin here, I hardly get involved in any discussions. I chat on my mommy month with my girls and tip toe around the rest. I reply when someone needs help and steps in when hot topics get out of hand. (so far only the csec vs natural where 2 specific people got personal with each other) Don't you think if I always had an opinion I would have more posts than Julz? Then I would have started all the topics and deleted the comments that doesn't suite how I think and feel.

When it comes to certain topics I will give my experience only if I've had experience with the topic. I don't google to find my opinion about topics that don't concern me (not saying anyone here does but that's how I personally feel, that I won't give my opinion if I didn't experience it in our family)

And if I don't agree with Julz I just say nothing

Lisa, really I wasn't trying to attack you personally but perhaps Julz and I are very much the same in this regard and felt a bit attacked on the separate topics we were commenting on. You know the saying of a threatened animal trapped in a corner

As for medicating, I gave my LB rescue when he was really little as he really had colic and I didn't want to give him anything stronger. It worked. Not to sleep through, but the screaming fits from 6pm to 12am stopped instantly. I kept it up for about a week, after that he was fine.

These days, I will give him Nurofen if he isn't well. He is 12 months old and I bought one bottle of Nurofen when he was about 6 months old, its about half now. I have the most piecefull baby on the planet, he keeps himself occupied most of the time and doesn't cry much. So if he cries for more than an hour, there is something wrong with him. Then I will give Nurofen once. Never to "help' him sleep!!

So far I have only given him Homeopathic meds for colds and other ailments and only when neccessary. He has never had any major problems so I don't own any strong medicine. My mother gave him Corex one weekend when he stayed with her and had a cold, and she had a horrid time as it made him hyper active. I threw the bottle away at a garage on the way home...

As to alcohol, NO WAY!!

Oh and just to be clear..Im not judging moms that do give there children natural remedies to help calm them or help the to sleep...my midwife has recommended tissue salts as well as sister Lillian for Monkey Moo...I even have a bottle of Sister Lillian here that I bought..I've just haven't used it yet
