I typed up a response twice!

I'm with you Julz. Babies don't sleep and that is part of the package and if you are expecting your 6 week old to sleep for 10 hours then sorry for you cos that is just not going to happen.

I don't believe in letting your baby cry. Toddler different story but usually that is for other reasons...

Anyways, Jade is 2 and half, sleeps through but in our bed. Troy is almost 6 months wakes up about 3/4 times, also in our bed. Used to be fun but it is losing it's appeal. Going to maybe tackle the arrangement in summer I think. I love to snuggle but sometimes with both of them all over me and hubby snoring it does get a bit much. Feel bad having one in the room and not the other so not moving Jade till later. Decided they can move to their room together. Also I am lazy to get up. Troy starts off in his cot and I just reach over pop him on boob and back to sleep.

I've worked with a lot of parents and babies and I know how exhausted and desperate parents can get. I think there is a definite difference between a parent who medicates as a last resort and has exhausted every possible option and a parent who medicates because they don't try any other methods first. A baby who is medicated and gets a decent nights sleep (or 5) and allows mum and dad to rest makes for a happier family where everyone can think clearly and figure out a solution :)

There are many different ways of parenting and many different ways of sleep training and I think so long as people are intelligent about it, then each to their own.

Julz, I also don't understand it.

I was very upset last night when I read the replies to the breastfeeding news thingy on the Beeld website because there were some women who said that if you don't want to breastfeed you shouldn't be a mother and that your child should be taken away from you.

I think some mothers have very unrealistic expectations of what their babies can or can't do at certain ages and some mothers really do add fuel to the fire. If I say that my LG sleeps through from 7pm - 8am you might feel like crap because yours doesn't. When in reality she wakes up 2 to 3 times between 7pm and 12 then sleep through only sometimes.

She still gets up once if not more in the wee hours of the morning, but for me that's fine, I'm a mother and she's only a baby.

I also think some people have a very distorted view on 'cry it out' and there really are mothers who let their children cry till they go blue, which is also wrong in my eyes.

Really think I should also stop reading the comments to those FB questions! Drives me up the wall

Hugs Julz. I am not a great one to offer comfort today, since I feel like screaming and ripping the heads off the employees of our server.
So just sending you hugs...

I am so annoyed. Not sure if it is me I am annoyed wiith or with others.

I am having a tough time understanding why other moms are so frustrated with their babies not sleeping. Rediculous I know as I was too when Dylan didn't sleep.

I am probably totally out of line here and feel free to stone me, but isn't sleep deprivation part of the package? Should I really expect to sleep till 10 each saturday morning now that I am a mommy. Maybe that is why I put off having kids for so long. It nearly killed me, but I plodded on through the sleep deprivation which is maybe why I am so annoyed with myself. Maybe I shouldn't have.

I just can't see the good in medicating my kid to sleep. So what did I do? I sleep trained him. Ya great mom hey letting your child cry himself to sleep, yet it wasn't like that at all. It was gentle and it took 3 nights and it was really hard for me too.

Thanks for the platform and you know that I don't take offence, but please be gentle I think I have pms. :)

PS this has nothing to do with a single mom here. x
