i understand being tiered and being totally and utterly exhausted there is such a difference and babies surely dont know themselves why the cry and dont sleep, its not like a child/toddler who can speak or show u whats wrong with them
why medicate the child to sleep?? there clearly is a problem and to me then u might as well give the child a nice strong drink to sleep, i mean who does that??
a tip i saw on super nanny, obv this is with older kids, toddlers to be precise...
get child in bed - read story
kiss goodnight and walk out
if the child comes out of room to get u, take child back and speak once and say NO ITS BED TIME
if the child gets out the 3rd time, u dont talk, u just take them back to bed. and so u carry on even if it takes 2hours WITHOUT talking to the child
and believe me, i know not all the same thing happens to the same families but this particualr family had 4kids under the ages of 5 and one was also down syndrom and they all tried testing the water, the mother stuck to her guns and a week later - walaa kids sleeping in their own rooms.
