Beansmom, those tantrums. I can't type what I really want to type because there are a few bad words that pertain to those tantrums. We ignore it and don't give in, and that seems to work like a bomb. Only thing is that the nanny tends to give in, which kind of negates our whole approach because she knows that she'll get what she wants from Letty. But it is awful when it happens in a public space! We actually managed to go out for lunch yesterday. Emily played up once, and we took it in turns to go outside for a bit, and then she was fine. Only thing was that she refused to eat the food that we'd brought for her, and landed up eating some of her dad's prawns. She loved them! But she won't be getting them again - they all came up a few hours later. We had projectile vomiting four times over. And the one time Mark dashed outside with her - and he set the alarm off. So we had ADT pulling up with his guns ablazing, only to find poor old Mark standing in the front garden holding the gusher at arms length. He did give us this rather helpful piece of advice: "Sir, if your baby is sick you must give her cream soda". So there you have it ladies. Forget expensive visits to the paed. Cream soda - the answer to every parent's nightmare.

Elamsmom, we seem to have a slow developer in the speaking department. Emily says Mamma and Daddy, but it's kind of hit and miss. I'm so jealous when I see other kids talking, it's so damn cute. I read that they should be able to say about seven words by now.

Beansmom, it has been freezing - and working on the computer doesn't help much. I often sit here with a blankie. Well done on the Baba Indaba. Holding thumbs that you sell lots and lots of stuff!

About the Moomie meet, I find that when Emily gets bored that's when the tantrums also kick in. And when she wants to run around and investigate and I won't let her. Maybe take along some toys and some snacks to keep her occupied? See if that helps? I also find that there's no better cure for tantrums than a bottle of vino (for mommy, not Tayla, although it is tempting...)

Hi everyone. I've been SO lazy to post lately. just lurking in the shadows like a stalker

@Beansmom, I agree with you. They are becoming more fun to be with as they become less dependent & as their little personalities develop further.

I would be interested to know how the talking is going. Elam can now say "thank u" when she gives you something or u give her something. Sounds more like "tonkuuuuuuu" tho

She's always open our drawers and taking everything out. so each time she closes the drawer, I'd say "good girl." she now LOVES to open the drawer & close it just so she can call herself a "goo gaaa"

Those are the newest words. She can also say "botile" which is bottle in Xhosa and a few other words. Too cute!

We've also been taking her to moms&tots every Thursday. She LOOOOVES it and cries when we have to go. She loves palying outside. I keep wondering if it's time to get he a mini jungle gym. We enquired about it tho as a 1st birthday present, & were told she's too young still.

Hope everyone is well. Sorry, very selfish post on my part. :(

Hello ladies...

Typing VERY slowly this morning cos my hands are frozen!!! So over this cold already... and frustrating that hubby and Tayla don't feel the cold at all!

So - news from my side... some of my products are going to be on sale at the Baba Indaba... yay... quite excited about that... lots of hard work ahead, but pleased about that!

Tayla is just getting cuter by the day... I have to admit the first year wasn't enjoyable at all... but now I'm really enjoying my time with her. Such a little character! @Scribblingal - wow - Emily does have big feet :) Tayla is a size 3 and I thought she had boats! ha ha ha....
We going to our very first Moomie meet on Sunday... oh how i hope she behaves for me! Her tantrums lately have been aweful... I have lost count how many times I have had to drag her kicking and screaming out of a shop while I'm totally red faced from embarressment!
Daymom is going well... the last 3 days of last week she has actually "danced" in the car all the way there... and then happily opened her arms to go to them once they open the front door... big relief for me! The screaming and crying while I walked away was really killing me!

Anyhoo - thats about it for me to update... I need to go and source label printers in cape town on a small scale... fun!

First Baby - Tayla (girl)
Location: Northern Suburbs - Cape Town

HAHA - ScribblingAl about your little interior designer! LOL! Luke does the same thing with the kitchen chairs.

We had a problem with Luke and kitchen cupboard doors, ended up buying latches for the inside of the cupboards that work with a magnet to open and release - one of the best buys ever! :silly: :woohoo:

Luke sees his Ophthalmologist again on the 18th of July... ;)

A size 5 already - yikes - its AMAZING to see how fast our LO's are growing!! Still cant believe Luke is going to be 14 months old this month... Eeeek, before I know it he will be going to school!

I dont feel like working today! GRRRRRR!!!!

Bronz...... come on post something for us!!

So nice to have a few posts to read. I miss you ladies when you are quiet.

Bronz, every time I write a post I copy it before I hit"submit" because I have learnt some really annoying lessons on Moomie :) Glad you posted though - been missing you. By the way, I only have one Mac charger but would have loaned it to you as I have a work PC that I use most days. The Mac is my buffer against Eskom.

Babyshoes, good luck with all the changes at work. It does tend to throw the office in turmoil, but will work out. From what I read, the muscle exercises with the patch usually work, and the op is just last resort, but even the op seems to be quick and relatively simple, so take heart. And keep us posted. You probably won't notice much change, as you see Luke all the time, but we'll hold thumbs. When do you go back to the opthalmologist?

No fridge keys yet. We've tried putting a chair in front of the fridge but certain people think they're interior designers and love to move the furniture around. So that's not working. Will have to keep looking.

Babyshoes, Emily seems to be a size 5 shoe. She has huge feet. Des actually pointed it out when she was next to Connor, and I was shocked at how big they are. Woolies 5s are a little big for her but the 4 is too small.

Adri, I'm glad to know that the depression isn't that isolated. I guess in many aspects it is normal - it is a huge change. I'm still up and down but there are more ups than downs. And in the beginning it was the other way round. But if I hit another down I'm going to see someone. Until then, Mr Nederburg seems to be quite a good antidote. If Pinky and I invite him out to lunch we'll let you know. Maybe later this month (can't believe it's July already) because this research is going down down down.

Speaking of which, Adri, you go girl. With your go-getting attitude I'm not surprised you manage to take on so much.

Had better get back to work - my boss has already phoned once today.
