Hey ladies, I've been following the thread, but not posting... It sounds like all your babies are doing generally well and bustling around like the busy toddlers they are.
James is well, but I must admit that today I had a bit of a sob...He has moved from demanding baby to a demanding toddler and I think, today...along with feeling premenstual I reached the point of snapping, all over a temper tantrum from him wanting to go outside NOW instead of in 15minutes when mommy had finished dressing and brushing her teeth. Add that to my continuing sleep issues (despite my night weaning him, he still wakes 3/4 times nightly, plus his one daytime nap of ONLY an hour is a fight everyday) I think my frustration was compounded by the fact that we were at a friends on the weekend and all the other babies just seemed so easy....Made me feel like a pretty crappy mom.
Oh well enough of a moan. James is also not saying much (he says mama and dog) but is SUPER busy. He loves climbing and spends a lot of time imitating us (sweeping, digging in the garden etc).
You can tell he is an only child and does not have to share..whenever we go anywhere where there are other children he always seems surprised that they dont play with him like mommy does (he gives me a toy and I give it back), and that the toys that he so trustingly hands over seem to play dissappearing games. Hes so trusting:

Hi ladies.

Soooo exciting to see all the developments.

Babyshoes: Hats off to you for doing it on your own and doing so well at it!I guess us women are like that, we make lemonade out of lemons because well...what other choice do we have? A friend of mine & I were talking about "the LUXURY of falling apart." Most of us have a mountain of problems but have so many things/ people who rely on you that we can't afford to fall apart even though sometimes you just want to crumble into a million pieces. I'm all for addressing issues and I know bottle these things up & "getting on with it" can lead to many issues and even nervous breakdowns but sometimes i really feel like i just CAN'T fall apart...sometimes that's the only thing that keeps me going. I'm so happy that your mom is so supportive and so involved in Luke's life. I'm sure it makes ALL the difference.

@Bronz: Hope Graeme gets well soon. It's always so hectic when these little one's aren't well. it's so sad cos you wish you could take the pain away from them & you feel so helpless at times!

Jacadebra:LOL at "oh no". I am super excited about every new word! Too cute. Elam is currently soaking everything up & seems to be learning so fast! (then again, I have no-one to compare her to  ) If u say Peek-a-boo, she says "I see youuuuuuu" LOL  If u give her a cellphone she puts it to her ear and says "heyyo" or "Hi". I'm just loving it!

@Scribblingal: LOL @ cream soda being the "best kept secret" remedy for sick kids!

Hello Bronz!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Awwww - I hope that Graeme gets better real soon and that time really goes by fast til DH gets home..

Thanks for the advise on Luke's dad... Im taking all the mommies here's advise and carry on doing this on my own! I know I am doing a good job! Thanks mommies!!

Bronz, I'd love to go to the moomie meet but unfortunately I am babysitting my cousins 4 children this whole weekend Connor 2, Liam 6, Grant 10 and Charne 12.... And even if I could go Id need to have to ask my mom to take me (I just recently got my learners and am still in the process of learning to drive - yeah I know its late in life...  ).

But I will make a point at the next meet - it would be nice to meet you and Graeme...

Luke threw a HUGE tantrum as I was leaving to go to work! Eeeeek! I feel sorry for my mom today!!

Let me get working - payments payments and more payments to make today!

x

Hey Ladies.

Finally managing to do my post!

Jacadebra: Good to hear you are doing well! I remember Lia taking a couple of steps at the lunch we did. Strange it took her so long to do more. I must say I kept on wishing it to happen, he took off far quicker than I thought he would. No stumbling any more!
Lia seems to be a real little chatter box!

Babyshoes: I posted a nice long piece of advice for you last time regarding Luke's father: but in short I agree with what the other ladies have said, he doesnt want to be part of his life then dont let him. Its great that you have support though!

Good luck with the patching! He looks like a little pirate, I must say he has a naughty little face (in a cute way).

Beansmom: I have the same issue with tantrums now. The other day he would not stop, did not want me to pick him up but i could not put him down. Eventually I put him on the floor and told him to come find me when he calmed down. It took him about 2 mins to come through and he buried his head in my chest and snuggled as if to say sorry.

I am looking forward to meeting you properly on Sat. :)

Elamsmom: Graeme's talking is also taking off. He seems to be doing a lot of actions to portray his meaning too. But today he started say jus (juice) when he wanted his juice. :) Love this age!

Ok from my side:

I am not coping as well as I thought I would. I do take my hat of to single moms. First it was the lump on his leg, which turned out just to be fluid so we can leave it, but that was after 3 doctors and a ultra sound. And now he is sick. He has had a cough for a couple of nights but last night was very bad so doc said we must nebulize him. He is still running around like normal, just you can hear his chest. The nebulizing was not fun, but the last 2 times I have done it luckily he was asleep.

Hopefully he is home soon!!!

Babyshoes are you coming to the meet? I would love to meet you and Luke. Although I will have to play it by ear as to whether I am going or not. Graeme should be better by then.

Thats all I can think of for now.

Good Morning mommies

jacadebra - welcome back!!

Thanks for the good luck on the patching!

So far this week the patching has not been going too good! Luke has been pulling it off - GRRRR  !!
Back to micro-pore plaster now!

@ jacadebra - WOW on all the words - That is awesome!

Talking about the tantrum stage.... Luke is throwing some really bad ones at the moment and its at the point that if you do not pick him up he will not stop crying (with no tears) and he wont stop screaming! Yesterday my mom was at her wits ends with him cos she could not do anything!

Hello Ladies *waves*
Nice to pop into this thread again, missed reading it.

Sounds like all our babies have grown so big... no longer babies anymore. Very, very cute age but oh so demanding!

Just wanted to say hello and that I wonder about ya'all quite often!

Life has just been hectic. Work, stress, the usual... work is going well though, I seem to be well appreciated and the people are lovely, just feels like it takes up so much time.. and I really do miss my kiddies a lot.

After taking her first steps at 11ish months - Lia only decided to start walking properly way into her 14th month. Quite bizarre really... she just had no urge to walk but the day she started walking she just upped and walked everywhere... never fell, never stumbled. Nice in a way I guess - Jordan was 9 months when he started walking but then he fell quite a bit and it was hectic having to watch such a little one walking all over the whole time.

Lia has also been talking up a storm. Too stinking cute. Including saying naming loads of animals and their sounds, saying NO to tons of things and "oh no" every time something goes wrong. Her grandparents are most chuffed that she says Ouma and Oupa (Andre's folks) but unfortunately she hasn't got the same deal for my mom yet.. and referred to her as "MAN" the other day LOL. Perhaps cos my mom has short hair or something lol.. fortunately my mom has a sense of humor. I have yet to teach her what a woman is - best I work a bit more on that *cringe*
She She copies her brother though so she is quite a rough little thing.

Scribbling, you will probably find Emily will start talking in sentences when she decides to talk properly... she is just one of those little girls who doesn't like half measures... all or nothing - look how quickly she started walking after crawling!

Bronz, how you holding up without Bearn there? Must be hecitic!

Des, can't believe baby no 2 is almost here.. so exciting but damn scary at the same time.

For all the mommies with depression, so sorry, not a nice path to walk, hopefully you can get on top of it. Not that it's any concellation, but I totally understand, I'm like a loose cannon, am the picture of optimism and happiness most the time and then have a mini meltdown of sorts every now and then... rather unamusing. I have a few outside issues stressing me out though so I guess my coping mechanisms are a bit off lol.

Babyshoes, good luck with the patching, Luke look like such a cute little guy! I'm sure you will get that squint sorted out before he even realizes he has a squint :-).

Hey Elamsmom, glad you are enjoying the moms and tots - Jordan use to love toptots when he was this age.

The tantrum-like behaviors at this age really can be a pain, like scribbling says making sure they don't get their way is key. So nice that they are usually easy to distract at this age too - I can usually distract Lia with some raisins.. haha... too easy. She will start freaking out, I'll tell her that we don't act like that and explain why she can't have something.. then tell her that we can go get her a raisin instead... LOL.

Ok, I know I have forgotten a lot of people, will rectify next time, too lazy to go back and can't remember what was posted. Will catch up another time.

Take care everybody.
