Nels_n : So glad you are also a bit better today - woo-hoo!!
Good luck with the medical aid battle. Can't believe you had such hectic cramps!! Guess I was lucky to have it only mild.
StarryEyed: Yes, the bran/wholegrain can sometimes make things worse, perhaps you should stay clear of that. Soup is also great, easier to digest and loads of veggies (if you can stomach it...).
The Iron causes constipation and slows down your digestive system, which could cause the cramping and bloating. In my previous pregnancy my dr. advised me that the baby will be fine if I don't take my multivitamin in the first trimester, most women get too nauseas from it anyway. However taking folic acid is not optional - very important. I have a chewable folic acid (from NRF brand) that easily dissolves under your tongue (much easier than taking a tablet when feeling nauseas). Until you feel better perhaps consider ditching the pregnancy multivitamin and get a separate folic acid supplement? Perhaps check with your midwife friend too.
Good luck with the pharmacy trip...
So glad to hear about your friend being pregnant too! So exciting!!!!!
