Newbiemom@ that would be so nice, i really wanted a water birth.

I am considering getting a doula , someone who will support me during labour and birth as I would like to labour as long as possible at home before going to hospital. I DON'T want to be strapped in bed for hours.

Hello ladies

Im hoping the ms starts clearing cause its has seemed to be increasing.
Gloei@ the midwife and gynecologist issue is just overwhelming for me. Its getting harder to find a gynecologist that will agree to backup a midwife, there is a midwife who is willing to do a vbac but my medical aid WANTS a backup gynecologist. I don't want to force having a midwife only to need a csecection then having to fight the medical aid to pay for her and give me flack about the emergency csection.
Dh and I had a talk about this and he suggested we go ahead with the gynea (though I really want a midwife), then at least we know that the gynea will be there for the birth and maybe a csection and no medical aid fighting afterwards.
One nice thing though was that the gynecologist was upfront, she pointed out that she prefers I go all natural no epi etc. She did answer all my questions without rushing me. So that kind of put me at ease.

So happy for you nels that it went well! Sad that so many drs dont support midwives.

My gyn also doesnt work with them, but he says he is happy to take care of me until about 20 weeks and then pass me on to my midwife. With my first pregnancy we ended up having a home birth, but the original plan was to go to the hosp where the midwife normally does births, and then there are obviously backup drs should they be needed.

So excited for you next scan gloei!

Chat to you ladies again later xxx

1st pregnancy - We had a natural birth at home with our midwife. It was a dream come true!

2nd pregnancy - 2012 Miscarriage at 12 weeks (blighted ovum)

3rd pregnancy - 2012 Miscarriage at 7 weeks

4th pregnancy - 2013 Twins Miscarriage at 6 weeks 4 days

3 Sept 2014 - Saw and heard our little heartbeat.

Hi Ladies!

Nels_n: So happy to hear the first sonar went well!!! Sjoe, it is a bit of a surprise that you are much further than thought! You are basically going into your second trimester now, hopefully the MS will ease soon. I am also work from home and it certainly helps to take a break when needed. Feeling very blessed to have that option.

Are you going to stick with this gynea and then not use the midwife? Surely you can use both or are they not comfortable with this? I thought the midwife monitors you most of the time during the pregnancy and then the doctor is only back up should something go wrong either in pregnancy or delivery? I am still trying to figure out how this whole combination midwife/dr. option works with the VBAC myself? My next appointment is 17 Sept. with my new doctor that I hope will be VBAC friendly and then I need to speak to the midwifes at this hospital too to hear how it all works...

Hello ladies

Gloei@ I know the fear of being like your mother and thinking maybe being a mom is not meant for you, It took a while to get through it but with prayer and dh support I was able to put the fear to rest.
Fortunately i am a wahm so I try to work around the ms.

Newbiemom@ that's great news.

I went to the gynecologist this afternoon, nice lady. She answered all of my concerns. Sad part though is that she doesn't work as a back-up gynecologist for the midwife any more but does vbacs. She said she will allow me to go till 40 weeks but will decide at 37weeks and if all is well a vbac is A ok.
I had my first sonar and seeing our little bundle was amazing, needless to say that's when she measured our bundle at 12w 2d. Trying to get a scan on him/her was a mission because he/she was moving around and so energetic. Wiggling those little arms and legs and turning. Was so shocked and happy all at once. Am due on the 16 March and not April.
