StarryEyed,

Oh, no, sorry to hear about the cramps...I did have on and off cramps that felt like indigestion earlier but it wasn't extremely severe. Ever since I stopped my pregnancy multivitamin and switched to my old multivitamin without iron (Staminagro) things improved drastically. Don't know if a good probiotic might help? I agree with Newbiemom, try and stay clear of any white refined products and sugar. Rice helped my stomach to calm down - I made myself vegetable sushi for a few days and it helped a lot! If you eat bread, make sure it is wholegrain. Honey is apparently also helpful. I am having 2 big bowls of fruit salad every day, don't know if you have fresh fruit available where you are staying now in Sweden?

I did use a warmed wheat bag for short periods of time on and off. The internet is divided between whether if it is safe or not. Seems like your entire body temperature must be raised before it is harmful to fetus and a warm water bottle can't do that apparently...

Try and drink as much as possible water, I know this isn't easy when feeling nauseas...

Perhaps speak to your midwife friend of have your husband phone your Gynea here in SA.

Thinking of you!! I know the first trimester is not much of a joy ride for most.

I am feeling much better today! And I am enjoying every moment since I know tomorrow could be a different story again. :silly:

Shame starryeyed.... I have been struggeling with stomach cramps when I eat bread etc... I get soooo bloated all of a sudden. And its very painful sometimes. I find that eating less white flour things helps. More fruit is a better option for me. If you get concerned then maybe ask your friend for advice? Im sure she can give you (us) good advice...

Hi ladies

Wow you ladies are amazing... having home births sounds amazing. I don't know if it is just the fact that this is my first pregnancy... or that so many of my friends have had horror show worthy births... but I feel comforted by the thought of being in a hospital. I do want to try natural as far as possible and my gynae is pro natural but I like that he will be close by if I have a problem.

How are all of you feeling? Since the last time I posted... my energy levels have plummeted, nausea has kicked in and I am having the worst cramps... I am talking huddling on my bed crying cramps. Obviously being in Sweden at the moment I can't just call my gynae but I don't think its the baby... there is no bleeding and my symptoms are getting stronger. I think its my digestive system... if I don't eat for a few hours the cramps go away. Obviously, I cannot not eat but I am in so much pain when I do. Any of you have suggestions? Have you experienced this?

23Aug2014 - First positive test of my first pregnancy (4weeks & 3 days) :)

Newbiemom, I would love to read your birth story if you can post it on Moomie (I think there is a births story topic?).

I agree, after reading Ina May's book on childbirth and how midwives were the most experienced when it came to birth and how it slowly changed to doctor centred and the rest is history...Very sad indeed. My grandmother had 3 home births with a midwife - no complications.

I am in Centurion. I will have to drive about 45 minutes to get to Femina hospital which seems to be very pro-natural and has a very good midwife practice. But it will be worth it. I really hope that I will be able to go natural since it would be pretty useless to do all the driving for check-ups and then end up having a c-section (where I could have a c-section pretty close to my home...). Anyway, I have a good feeling that all will be fine. B)

I guess not having med aid has its pros and cons.... one of the pros being that getting a midwife is just much cheaper and if something does go wrong there is always gov hosp, which are amazing here in cape town... where are you girls?

Nels_n,

Okay, I still need to do my homework, haven't even spoken to my medical aid yet...

I was about to suggest a doula. Apparently it increases your chance of a successful VBAC. Your Gynea sounds great to say that she would prefer you go natural!! Certainly a good sign - so glad for you since it is very difficult to find a pro VBAC doctor. I agree that one wants to keep the hospital part to a minimum.

Sorry to hear about the MS getting worse...I really feel for you! I am sure it must ease off in the next 2 weeks?! xx
