Thanks gloeiwurmpie!

I think I will be less stressed once I hear from a professional that everything is going according to plan inside me... It's hard not knowing what's happening in your own body. I am going to go and watch those videos you suggested.

I am in Sweden and they rely mainly on midwives here. My friend is training to be a midwife and I happen to be visiting her this weekend so hopefully she can advise me on where to go etc. fingers crossed.

Hope your unpleasant symptoms start subsiding soon. :) It is so nice to have someone to talk to... That knows what I am going through so Thank you.

Hi StarryEyed!!

Congratulations! :woohoo:

Wow, that is a tough one...not being able to be with your hubby while getting the good news. Where are you now?

I think it is normal to be super stressed with the first pregnancy - I was the same! This time round I am just focusing on the whole experience and realise it will most likely be my last pregnancy as we would like to have 2 children.

I also had the runs the first week or so and then it changed to constipation...Amazing how fast your body can change from its usual routine - such a miracle.

I totally love to watch the week by week videos online that shows the progress. I try to focus on that when the unpleasant symptoms hit.

My favourite is this website (weeks are from conception, not last menstrual period):

www.ehd.org/movies-index.php

and this was also pretty impressive:

Hi Everyone!

I just got my BFP... We were so excited... My first pregnancy and I am due around the end if April 2015! I am unfortunately overseas for two months so I cannot even see my doctor and my hubby is at home in SA :( I feel so alone! I am going to try see a doctor or midwife here this weekend to make sure everything is ok. I can completely relate to some of you... I wake up in the morning and rush to the bathroom hoping there is nothing and everything is still ok. I really don't want anything to go wrong and I am worried about an ectopic pregnancy.

Other than the fear... I am having trouble sleeping too, stomach cramps and I have to go to the loo like three times a day (no constipation... I seem to be one of the few people that go the other way...).

How are you all doing????

It is so quiet here that I am getting worried about everyone? Hope everyone's symptoms are not so bad that you can't crawl to the computer or type on your phone....??

I must say, that I am starting to feel about down with all the symptoms and am counting the days for the first trimester to pass.

Small rant: I am not sleeping at night (either nausea, blocked nose, stomach cramps or just "general" discomfort), the nausea is quite intense, my lips have peeled and are bleeding, the constipation is not fun, and I miss my Nexiam which I used to take chronically for acid reflux, which I can't take now....Sorry, now I got it out of my system. :)

Looking forward to hear about everyone's first scans!!

It is a lot of money to buy a new pregnancy wardrobe! I have already taken the box out of the cupboard to throw out...Can't believe it was just in time! Thank you for the tips on the bras!

I am also trying to get information on a VBAC... The pain afterward the C-sec was terrible, I couldn't lift my LG for the first 3 days. I was so drugged on the meds, I can't remember much of the first 3 days. The recovery period is really long compared to normal vaginal delivery. I will do my research and weigh all the pro's and con's and see where it all goes...

Agreed on chilling more about everything compared to my first pregnancy! I even had sushi twice (after doing intensive research on the topic). Perhaps a bit on the wild side... :silly:

So far what is different is that my nausea started 2 weeks later! Score! I am battling to sleep, which I didn't have with my first pregnancy.

How is everyone else doing?

I envy you. I gave away alot of my maternity clothes and only have one left and it seems that I will be living on leggings and maternity shirts cause my boobs seem to start causing a bit of trouble with my old clothes. I went to check out the feeding bras at Edgars and Woolies and it seems Woolies has sexier ones for far more cheaper then Edgars which are horrific, and with my first pregnancy I ended up buying Woolies ones. Hoping to squeeze for another month in my current bras while holding my breath and get Maxi dresses as that helped with my first pregnancy.
will definitely try agiolax granules, a small amount because this constipation is not pleasant at all.
oh yes your first was also born in 2009, that's a relief. We are not alone. I must say I'm really hoping for a vbac this time around and the only gynea to allow me trying for one is my old gynea in Pinetown 55+km away from where we live now.
can't wait for my first sonar as well.
have any of you ladies find you current pregnancy different from your first? With this one I'm sick all the time, breasts growing faster then the first but I'm more relaxed though and don't care for much at all.

Amara born 2 December 2009 Weight 3.30
Kwakhanya born 1 April 2015
weight 3.41kg
Mommy to 2 beautiful boys.

Nels_n,

Guess our male better halves are not complaining about the new size, just that it is only for "viewing" and "no touching"! :silly: I will have to go and dig out my old pregnancy bras as I can foresee that my current ones are a bit on the ...full side... I was just about to throw out all my pregnancy clothes when I got the pregnancy test - so glad I didn't!

Interesting that we have 3 ladies here with first children, little girls all born in 2009?! And I thought I was the last one on the planet to have a second child, so late...(according to general norms). Feeling quite at home here.

On the constipation...yip, you are not alone! I am really eating healthy, lots of fresh fruit veggies, but it doesn't help. I have twice taken a small teaspoon of Agiolax granules to just get things going on 2 separate occasions...The internet says that it is safe to take during pregnancy, but I reckon one must be very very careful as it can be easily slow down your digestive system even more, so I reckon only a tiny bit when you really have to use it. So perhaps check with your doctor first before taking. The agiolax really works well without causing any bloating or stomach cramps like other brands I have tried previously.
