Hi ladies

Wow it's been a long time. Phela is 6 months now she is crawling and standing. She hasn't teethed yet. We just started formula as this is my second week back at work. I still breastfed though. We on Similac and it is giving her gas, luckily we have a pediatrition visit tomorrow. I tried Nan but she refused it. Eish kids but I am loving every moment

Hi everyone!

Last year this time we were all very chatty! Been a while, hope you guys are well!

Dehan's doing great, sitting strongly, bottom teeth came out last week (2 at the same time). He was a bit fussy with the first one but not bad overall.

He's weighing a whopping 9kg now! Big boy with such a sweet personality, like a big teddy bear.

My, but it's quiet in here!!!

Just wondering, whose babies are sitting / teething?

Charl is sitting on his own, but no teeth just yet. You can see the teeth inside the gums, but nothing has come out yet. He can be pretty cranky at times, but he isn't the terror people told me he'd be.

Hi mommies

How is everyone doing?
Everyone back at work?

Charl will be 6 months old on the 28th...HALF A YEAR! Where has time flown??

As previously mentioned, I attempted solids (rice cereal) with Charl a few times just after he was 4 months old, but he didn't take it well and would put up a heck of a fight and shed many tears every time. I then left it for about 3 weeks before I tried again and then he willingly opened his mouth (cutest thing ever!). Daily, he is now eating 3 teaspoons of dry cereal mixed with some formula milk in the late afternoon. I have also lately given him a few bites of Purity (butternut flavour) instead of cereal from time to time. He does not really like it and pulls faces when he takes a bite, but he doesn't spit it out or gag. I don't cook the veggies myself as I don't know how (don't really eat veggies myself).

Went to have him weighed and measured yesterday and he is following his curve perfectly. Apparently he is quite tall and he has grown a full 20cm since birth :) The nurse said I could start giving him cereal in the morning and some orange / yellow vegetables in the afternoons in addition to his 5 bottles. Then after 6 months she says I can start giving some of the more meaty varieties as well. Apparently they aren't supposed to drink more than 1 litre of milk per day, and this is when one should start to supplement with solids.

Anyone's babies teething yet? Charl is sometimes pretty cranky lately and drooling and chewing on everything he can find. I can tell his gums are very itchy and I think they are sometimes sore as well. I put on his amber teething necklace every day, and it seems to be helping with the drooling, but I can't really tell. Lots of moms say they keep the necklace on 24/7, but I'm not so sure I trust it on my baby through the night when I'm sleeping. Luckily he is still sleeping through the night at the moment.

Hope everyone is well!

Hi Ladies!! How's everyone doing?

DieSwartKat , I'm not back at work yet. I start 1 March. My nanny started last week. She will be coming home for the day. She works 7-5. When hubby gets home he will drop her off. She lives about 1km away.
I am already feeling completely and utterly devastated at the thought of leaving him. I really am not dealing well with it. I know it has to be done and millions moms all over do it but it is so so difficult... I feel guilty really...
It has been hard enough being home and letting her do stuff for him and from this week I will be going out for an hour or so each day. Slowly increasing it... My poor son:(((( I feel like he doesn't deserve this!

Anyway, he is doing really well. Growing beautifully. His weight was 6.3kg a week ago and he's about 66cm slightly taller than the Ave height. So he's quite a slender baby. Doc isn't too worried about his weight etc. We started rice cereal yesterday. Texture at first was weird for him. But after about 4 tries he woofed it down!! Was the cutest thing ever , he grabbed the spoon and was licking it lol!!!!

How is everyone doing?? Who's back to work?

It seems like work and life has caught up with all of us because it's so quiet in the forum!

Shall we start discussing baby no 2's or 3's??? Hahahah

Hi Ladies,

Day 2 back at work for me. Yesterday was ok, spent the whole day greeting people and catching up. Luckily for me I have no backlog and my work was spread between my colleagues, but lots of new developments and projects to catch up on. Today is a bit harder, thinking of him more

Dehan went to day care last Monday already, I specifically sent him for the week before I went to work, only half day though. Just to get us all eased into the routine. He's in a superb day care facility where he is the only baby at the moment. He has his own caretaker/nanny, but will have another baby sharing his room from March onwards. He's really happy and we're very blessed to have him in a spot where he gets such great and individual care. They keep a diary for me in the day with his feeding, sleeping and nappy changes. They spend time with physical stimulation and I get a pic on my phone every now and again.

It's still hard though! Last week Mon - Wed I couldn't stop crying, even though I know he's in a great place. Also, this is the 2nd time I've had to take a baby to day care and it wasn't any easier! I miss my kids terribly and I feel guilty that I can't stay at home with them. It's nice to sit at my desk and have time to myself at work, but honestly, I'd rather be at home even if it's chaotic sometimes.

I'm very lucky that I only work until 15:30, so I get to pick my kids up at 16:00 on the dot. That's early compared to other moms, but I still feel like it's too little. Dehan still takes a short 30-min nap somewhere between 16:30 and 17:30, and by 18:30 we're starting our evening routine so that he can go to bed at 7pm. And still cooking in between! It just feels too little, I just miss him a lot.

TCS, how is your little guy going? Back at work yet?

Betti, Dehan is 20 weeks tomorrow and already 8.1kg! Still following his growth curve perfectly, quite chubby but so relaxed and lovable. He's my cuddle-baby, I know exactly what you mean with having his own personality already.
