TCS, my shower is on 25 July, I'll be 32 weeks then. This time it will be a much smaller affair with about 1/3rd of the guests, the previous one was massive and I found it really exhausting (spoiled brat, I know!). I have most of everything, so I'm expecting a few outfits and so on, I've specifically told my sister (my "event planner") to tell people not to buy baby toiletries. I still have a cupboard full left over from last time and don't want people to waste their money.
At 35 weeks you'll still have plenty of time to wash and pack everything away that you get as gifts, so don't stress about it. I don't think it's ever too late for a baby shower!
I disagree that you should wait till then to pack your bag, because you could go into labour by that time, although unlikely. The stuff you need for the baby for the hospital is like 50ml shampoo, cotton wool, nappies, wipes, I would definitely buy that myself and pack my bag. Just buy the smallest shampoo, smallest bum cream etc, because you will get the bigger ones at your shower. The stuff you take to the hospital is almost sample-size, it doesn't cost much and you'll have peace of mind knowing it's packed. If you happen to get really nice outfits that you would rather take to the hospital, then you can always just swop it out after the shower.
