@Maj - so sorry to hear about your nanny. That is seriously not cool that you cant get hold of her. Hope she is ok. But where will you find someone good enough to take care of your most precious child?

I am also looking at the spectra pump. Would you suggest going for electric pump? I had the tommee tippee manual pump but it was so much more of a struggle than anything else. So I would definitely consider an electronic one. I dont think I would be able to afford a double pump. Would the single pump work just as good?
They are very very expensive and I also must make sure I buy a decent thing that I will use otherwise I will be wasting all my money.

I am so stressed!! My nanny went on leave and was supposed to return this morning! and she hasnt! I cannot get a hold of her and have no idea what to do!
And I cannot take anymore time off from work. I have major deadlines on one of my projects! The school does not have an aftercare facility, and my parents and inlaws live on the other side of the country!

@ JayBee, cute bump pic!
For the constipation, you need to increase your fibre. Eating dry fruit, apples, raisins, etc helps.
I went to a nutritionist a few years back, and she recommended that I take 3-4 magnesium citrate tablets, at the moment I am only taking 1, and its working wonders! I did get the go ahead from her once i found out I was pregnant.
I am also taking iron supplements which makes constipation worse!

@MTC congrats on the girl, and that you have been given the clear after the scare!

@ Ninies, Well done on being willing to try the breastfeeding again! Hopefully it will go better this time around.
I breastfed my daughter for a considerable amount of time, but I was on a looong maternity leave, so I had borrowed a manual pump. This time around, I need to return to work earlier, and have also been researching pumps! They are expensive!!
I am considering buying a Spectra pump. Spectra and Medela have the best ratings. I wish you could "test" it out before hand so you can figure out if it works or not.

@Jaybee - With my first pregnancy I really had a huge struggle (and very uncomfortable one) with constipation. The doctor prescribed Fybogel at that time. This time around I only had a bit of constipation earlier on and I bought Movicol sachets - same what MTC used. I think I only used 3 sachets and it got better. I then decided to start eating more fibre - so I would normally have all bran flakes in the morning and lots of water and fruits. I dont have any struggle now with constipation. I also bought prune juice. Try eating some dried prunes as well as a snack.

Your baby bump is so cute.

@MTC - I am so happy everything went well with your scan. Now you can relax and not stress about baby being healthy and normal. That is such good news.

AFM - I am reading so much on breastfeeding - trying to get as much info and tips and everything on it. I struggled with breastfeeding my son and had to stop after about 3 weeks. I am so determined to nurse for a longer time now but I am scared my milk is not sufficient again. But I personally think that it is so much harder with your first baby, so maybe this time it will come more natural. My mindset is also different this time. I am going to look at buying the medela swing electric single pump. Has anyone done some research and comparison of the various pumps?

Good Morning moomies

Hope you had a nice rested weekend...we had rain in PTA thank God.

@MTC I am so happy for you, now the stress is out of the way you can now plan you things nicely. Well I guess it will be nice to plan your own baby shower as it will be the way you want it. no surprises. My friends will be organising it for me I am not sure when.

@Ninnies ohhh welcome to my world, this baby is so active she is constantly kicking, but I am loving it.

@Jay-Bee01 Cute bump, its amazing when you see the baby in your tummie it feels so exciting. every time they measure the baby I take a ruler and put it on my stomach. I know its silly but it gives me an idea...

Hi all ladies

There is so many posts to catch up on that I only read the latest :)

@ Lisa, oh no it sounds like you are super stressed about the baby shower, can you not maybe talk to your mom and sister about it? I agree with Ninies and seeing that you are planning it yourself it will be the way you want it. :)

@ MtC, what a cute pic and love the pink bow!

@ Maj, sorry not sure what to use for the itchy tummy but I hope it gets better.

@ Ninies, I have never heard of the fundal height and quite interested now. It has also been hot here in Cape Town and wish I had a pool. I think that I can only book my bed closer to 30 weeks or at 29 weeks at the earliest. I have gotten my Vitality Baby with Toys and Baby R Us, Clicks Baby and just need to do Dischem :)
May I asked what helped with the constipation you had and when it started and got better? My doctor gave me Laxette which doesn't really help but prune juice does but only when I use it. I have been constipated for the last 1.5 weeks and wondering if it will get better soon?

AFM, went for my anomaly scan 21 week scan last week or so and baby is now 8 days ahead measuring 24cm and 502g. I told the doc that Google said the average length must be 27cm and she said that is so incorrect, hmm? Doc says baby seems to be nice and tall which takes after her daddy. My boepie is also getting bigger and there is no way of hiding it, yay.

Hi Ladies,

@LisaMcK - So sorry to hear that you have all the added stress of arranging your own baby shower on such short notice. But atleast then you know it will be the way you would want it to be. But good Luck with all the arrangements.

I am also struggling to sleep because of the terrible heat wave Pretoria is experiencing!!!! Hopefully we will get some rain soon.
What is the fundal height measurement? Does it indicate anything?

The scan went very well. Our baby is already weighing 817g. I also booked the bed. So seems that our hospital does it at 24 weeks although I am now almost 26 weeks.

The doctor said that we pregnant ladies must drink loads of water - it is fairly common for pregnant ladies to get kidney stones - especially when it is so hot.

@MTC - how did your scan go hun?

@Jaybee - how are you doing?
