Hey girls

OMW youre planning parties!
I do not have a creative bone in my body! But thinking maybe a teddybear party? Easy enough to get a few teddies together, and some party packs?
I dont want to do anything too extravagent cause she wont remember it, but I'd like to get photo's.
Prob also keep it small to friends with kids and family.
Location is always an issue for us as our house is too small, and dont really have any indoors locations that will accommodate 20 people.

Eileen that's pretty cool that they let you leave today! A chapter closed indeed, but yet another exciting one opens! How's your new business venture going?

Cols re pampers - Kaylee's on #3's and I have no complaints at all. If she leaks its cos the nappy is so full there's no more space for anything. She's doing 1 huge poo a day now that shes on solids and its often way too big for the nappy's holding capacity. So trying to figure out timing to make sure she has a clean one on before the big poo.

I'm SUPER jealous about Evan's sleep routine! K wakes around midnight and then 4 and then finally at 7ish she is up. Most mornings I feed her around 7ish. Gonna have to try bring that forward by an hour when I go back to work cos by 7 I will probably be dropping her off at the day mom (sob!)

How do you know what percentile their growth is at? Can you read it on their charts? I have no clue where K is, just that she is growing as she should and hasnt dropped along the curve at all.
She's still small though, around 6.3kgs now and 5,5 months almost.

If baby isn't complaining about the teeth then you should not have to worry about any teething remedies but I'd be sure to have something handy at home. The prodol and ashtons & parsons comes highly recommended by most.

Charnenay how is the house hunting going? Finding anything in your budget? It can take around 3 - 4 months from when you put in an offer until transfer goes through, especially as they sit with backlog after December break. We put our offer in early december and took registration on 31st March when we bought.

I went for 2 interviews today. Both went very well and it sounds like I will get called back for 2nd interviews with both. The one is for a buyer / admin position at Plastics warehouse in Northumberland street. It sounds promising, but a tad disorganised. Hopefully some room to grow / gain experience. Seems a small set up with HR being outsourced (saw this HR company for the interview). But this usually means place to make a mark / help grow the company etc. Just not sure if they can pay the salary I need. Awesome to work so close to home though so I am really hoping they can!

Second was for a pill manufacturing company with a pill farm in Franschoek. They make things for pharmacies who rebrand it under their own names. These include pregnancy tests / ovulation kits / vitapops and preggy pops - so I am a loyal customer
Its a bookkeeping role, but with scope to grow into buying / operations as well and would require supervision and training of staff. There's definitely room to grow and room for promotions etc but it didnt sound like they were willing to pay what I need to earn, so if they offer me the job I would have to negotiate the package as what I asked for was already less than I actually need. Add fuel money to drive to Franschoek and suddenly the money becomes too tight. I dont want to shoot myself in the foot but we cannot be that tight on cash that its a struggle and then I dont enjoy the work. The long drive prospect is burdening me a bit though.
I have also been called for an interview in Claremont for a sales / admin position. Going to see them on Thursday. So will report back.
It's just nice to get some interest after sending my CV to so many places last week!

I'm also talking to 2 companies I used to work with to see if maybe we can do something together with a JV. If they are both interested it could be really very good for me! But will take some time to get off the ground and I'd still need cash to tide me over until then.

Kaylee's been suffering with cramps since Saturday. I totally forgot to tell the day mom cos she was fine yesterday most of the time. I dont know what could be causing it. I only changed her formula on Saturday PM (after the cramps issue) and I changed her cereal on Sunday PM only. So today when she was with the daymom she apparently cried a lot of the time. She only stopped after they gave her some meds for the cramps. I felt so bad.
I wish I could figure out what's causing the cramps. Not sure if she's constipated or what cos she farts a whole lot during the day but only poos once a day. Thinking of calling the clinic to ask.
What's the sugar stuff everyone recommends for constipation?
Meantime I'm giving her Bennets colic mixture which seems to be helping.

No gym tonight cause I have to do washing and cleaning before the maid gets here tomorrow. Ironic I know! But she wasnt here last week and I want to sort out the non ironing washing so that she has more time on other things. I may have to let her go sometime if we need to make budget cuts. Scary!

What a hectic day!

I've just about had it with finding formula for my bubs! Whenever I get, I sommer take everything on the shelf. Today I had to rush around to find milk, cause we running low. And no one had stock.
It's ridiculous!

So I am now officially a SAHM. Boss came to me and said I could finish off at 12 today. Happy and sad. End of another chapter. However it worked out nicely cause I could take Abby to the orthodontist myself, and DH didn't have to take off work. Good news, Abs's braces comes off in 6 weeks! Then its DH's turn...urgh. Followed by Grace! The orthodontists gonna have to give us some kind of discount!

My luck, the place where I liked the party stuff don't ship to SA. But I got friends in the UK, gonna try and ship to her, and have her then ship it to me. I want a Castle cake. I'll try and put a pic up of the plates and stuff. We'll also have her party at home, or at the animal farm, unfortunately we don't have much choice.

Girly, I really hope you get good news soon.

As for the nappies, *huge sigh*, I think someone needs to come up with a new nappy. I loved the Huggies Gold until they went and changed it, now the dye comes off on babies clothes and skin I am not a huge pampers fan either as the one time I used it, Emily had a leak So, now not sure what to try. I was lucky enough to find stock of the old huggies Gold, so I am still busy using that. But once it's finished, I'm not sure what I am going to do. It's like being forced to choose the best of the worst.

Charnenay / Eileen - my SIL is doing fairy princess for my nieces 2nd birthday this weekend. She's even redecorating her room for her. She is very good with party planning and organising so if I see any nice ideas she's done I will take some pics for you. Maybe it'll give some inspiration.

Evan has had an upper respiratory tract infection since thurday so he's been on meds since friday. His temperature finally seemed to come under control last night. It's terrible having a sick baby

Last night was the 1st time in nearly a week when he only woke for a dummy @ 3 and his 5am bottle. He seems so tired, he actually only managed half his bottle and slept until 7:10 am!

We were so late this AM cos I could not get out of bed. DH and I are both sick now.

I actually saw that prodol on the counter at babycity last weekend. I dont know if Evan is starting with teeth yet, he is drooling uncontrolably at the moment. He chews on everything and there is a white spot that keeps appearing and disappearing on his gum in the same place. The thing is it's not the standard front tooth. When I spoke to the paed he said some babies do start with other teeth 1st and thinks that may be the case with Evan...

Either way I am dreading teething

The dr did the 6 month check at the same time. His weight and head measurement are between the 50-75th % his length is 90th! I have such a tall baby! He has also discovered his thumb, I actually filmed him sucking it like crazy last night! He still doesnt roll over back to tummy very often - unless it's to get to a toy he cant reach while on his back He flips over plenty when on his belly.

Last thing, I am almost done with Evan's pampers. I am considering going onto huggies gold as I am not loving pampers. What are your experiences?
