Christmas shopping almost done!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know why we do this to ourselves every year! We know the shops is going to be a madhouse, and we sure as hell knows we're gonna need Christmas prezzies, and for who we gonna need them, but nooo we choose to leave it till a week before Christmas. Not like this Christmas thing doesn't come every year hey! Or as a suprise!

Iz so enjoys the shops. She loves looking at the people and the bright stuff. DH is on leave a bit. And I have to laugh, he is not baby fit! Me and Iz can play and go on for hours. But when she's with dadda, he feels the need to try and put her to sleep every ten minutes

Girly, this was one proud mama! I cried everytime I told someone! Let me tell you girls who's got baby girls something...having a daughter is the most precious gift! I only have daughters so I don't have boy experience. But I am having such a blast with my two tweenies! I enjoy them so much. Now that they older we share jokes, they've got such a sharp sense of humour, they love fashion and shopping is such fun. We can watch romantic comedies for hours on end, only to laugh and cry together. Abigail is almost 13 and she started the whole shaving thing, and make-up. Teaching her these things, and going on this adventure with her is such a blessing. My two baby girls is turing into such beautiful young woman, and its humbling to be part of such an amazing process.

Iz decided two days ago that she is going to roll over on her tummy, elevation or not! She still not there yet, but every day we are getting closer!

We are seeing our pead tomorow again for her reflux, she's been very niggly again. Think he's going to put her back on Losec.

I am so excited! My laptops has been cleared at customs! Should be here any day now! Whoohoo.

Izibella also isn't big on her playgym anymore, she'd rather lie down and watch mommy. Also not yet happy in her bumbo chair for a long time. Only place where she'll sit for about 15 minutes is her pram. As long as she sees mommy at all times.

Argh busy week ahead! I am hosting the Christmas Eve dinner...and haven't even started my planning! How's that for living on the edge???? Although I couldn't care less about the food....as long as the decor is perfect

I must still plan Iz's dedication. We had some calendar issues. So we had to postpone it till mid Jan. Needless to say I've been dragging my feet. Now I seriously need to get my butt into gear. We got the dress (actually 2, couldn't decide!), the shoes, the headgear, the song (daddy's gonna sing her a song). Now all we need is food, cake, decor!

Hey mommies

Hows everyone doing? Getting into the holiday spirit yet?
We're doing okay. K is taking a nap - been 1hr10mins already!
Usually she naps for 45minutes but the last 3 days one nap a day can sometimes last up to 2hours! Hope it lasts cos I am dressed, make up, teeth brushed, housework done its amazing! And I actually feel good.

I still have not done a single bit of Christmas shopping! Was meant to go on Wednesday but K wasnt happy. Thursday we were busy, and Friday she started with this extra long napping thing and in the afternoon we visited inlaws. Decided I will stay far away from shops this weekend cos its bound to be crazy. So hopefully I can go tomorrow? But will have K with in the pram so may need to make a couple of trips.

So counting down the days to Gordons Bay. I'm looking forward to getting afternoon naps etc. But at the same time a tad worried. Because ppl dont always realise when K is tired and when play time is over and quiet time is needed before naps. So she gets overstimulated and then fights her sleep even more. So I'm going to have to keep an eye on that or I'll have a very difficult little baba.

Eileen woohoo! Congrats on your girl being chosen as prefect! Must be a proud mom!
Re tummy time - have you got a feeding pillow? You can put her over that on her tummy - or even a rolled up receiver. That way she works the muscles but is still elevated.

Re leaving her unstrapped while dashing to the loo - ditto! I can either have her on her play mat or in her bumbo but if i leave her in her bouncer or swing she has to be strapped in or she bounces her way down. And our swing is a high one!

Re playgym - K is bored of hers. I used to leave her there for 10-20mins at a time but now after 5mins she starts moaning. I think its cos she can grab the toys but wants to pull them to her mouth but cant. So I must go buy some elastic to tie them to so she can pull them down.

BabyKsmom good luck this week! If ur freelancing at least it means good income?
But sounds like crazy hours! I dont know how you fit it all in.

I was in the shipping industry yes - selling marine fuel to ship owners. I dont know if I want to do exactly that again. The clients are international and quite aggressive and its a very high stress high pressure environment and after 8years I dont know if I want to do that again. It pays exceptionally well but its a lot of stress, flexi time including public holidays and late hours etc. I wouldnt mind staying in the shipping industry but maybe on operational / procurement / chartering side rather. There's a company here called Capespan (Fruit exporters) that I really want to work for. But dont know how to get hold of the right people to send my cv to that will promise it gets attention.

Anyways must dash. Kaylee awake now - 1,5hr nap woohoo!

Hi ladies

Sorry been so mia, not on holiday yet but I have so much work this week, I'm doing a months worth of work in one week, such is the nature of freelancing. My DH took some leave so he has been able to look after John quite a bit but its still hectic, I'm so tired, working from early in the morning and when John sleeps during the day and sometimes til 23h30 at night. And then in between doing washing and making dinner and keeping some plans to see people that we made before I got all this work.
Next week its all over though so I can't wait!

Hi Jeanine, so good to hear from you! Sorry you are back at work too Willem is so cute and he looks like you (I seem to remember seeing a pic of you on this forum somewhere along the line).
If I need to take breastmilk out with us I usually feed John quite soon when out but I always take it in a cooler bag and I think it lasts quite a few hours. Certainly, if it hasn't been sitting out and getting warm in the sun then I'm sure its still fine to drink, within a day.

Girly, what industry are you in? Did you mention shipping the other day? Ah wow, Gordons Bay sounds divine. I've driven through it before but not stayed there. Enjoy your reading and relaxing

Hi Eileen, good to hear from you too! So awesome that you're gonna be a SAHM I'm rally grateful that I can stay at home with my boy, although working from home can be very stressful cos you can't 'leave work' at the office. But for now I'm going to try do it without a nanny and see how we manage.

Ok girls, better get back to the grindstone... gggrrrrr.

Long time....


Well, I unoficially resigned yesterday. I'm going to be a SAHM for a year. With Izibella's reflux we decided I'd rather look after her myself. Next year will be a hectic year for my other girls too. My eldest got chosen as prefect and its her last year in Primary school. I'd rather take this year from work and spend it with my girls.

I'm am playing around with some imports which is very exciting and I'm learning so much!

Iz hates her tummy! And the rolling thing is just not happening. I figure it's because of the angle thing. She can't lie down flat. She is alway elevated because of her reflux. Which means my child almost sit by herself. Her favourite place is between my legs sitting watching tv. Or her Bumbo chair.

Little missy also decide that she'd rather bath alone in the big bath than with mommy! And only 1 person is allowed to bath her. No team effort please! Offcourse she hates all her grandma's and grandpa's! Starts whaling the minute she sees any of them....bear in mind she sees them often!

Iz absolutely loves her playgym now, because I put her cushion in for elevation, she can grab the butterfly's bum! That bugger got no chance of getting away from her!

Naturally our princess figured out she has heels and legs....which she can use to escape from her swing and pram! I used to put her in her swing and run to the loo quickly....now I have to strap her in! Cause by the time I get back her feet is dangling on the floor! Luckily we got a small swing.

Anyway, have a lovely weekend! Missy never got the memo that school exams is over and there is no need to wake up at 5 in the morning anymore!

I think fridge milk lasts 6hours, in a freezer compartment of a fridge 24hrs and freezer 3 months. Just put it far back that its at the coldest spot of the fridge and shake the bottle up before feeds.

Willem is so cute! His upper body looks very strong!

All these things - rolling over, sitting with support etc all happen around 3-6 months so its a wide range and we must just be patient with our little ones.

I have started sending my CV out - within my industry and elsewhere. A bit depressed though cos 2 companies I wouldnt mind working for dont have any vacancies
I feel so done in about work. I was in a very unique industry, high paying and highly stressful. But its limited me in what else I'll be able to do and I'm going to struggle to find a job and will be taking a major pay cut. It's going to be tough for employers to consider my application because my experience is so specific to the industry. I paid a consultant to do my cv for me as I wasnt happy with my wording. I got it back yesterday and tweaked it a bit, but still not entirely happy with the outcome.

We went to Canal Walk yesterday to meet Santa. Had so much fun and went for sushi afterwards. K was so well behaved and didnt moan at all, and fell asleep nicely in her pram when she was ready. And afterwards we even managed to go visit her granny at work so she could show her colleagues. So we were out from 10:30 until 4.
Today is another story though. Stayed awake almost 4hours this morning, wouldnt drink from me, I eventually expressed.
And then slept for almost 2hours with just a small break inbetween. She's been quite niggly the rest of the day too. Dont know whats up. Hoping it'll be better tomorrow.

We still havent done christmas shopping. I was going to go today but just wasnt possible! Thankfully we dont have a whole lot to buy but not in the mood for the shops.

We're off to Gordons Bay for the week from 24th Dec - 1st Jan. With MIL & FIL and DH's sister and her husband. So many hands to help look after K and lots of naps and reading ahead for me
Oooh and walks on the beach and ice cream. And Kaylee's first experience of the sea!
Anyone bought sunscreen for their baby's yet? What are you using and why? Are they old enough for it? The bottles dont seem to say.

My friend had her baby girl on Monday. Weighs 2.63kgs and 48cm. So equally as small as Kaylee (200grams smaller). Cant wait to meet her!

Okay better get supper on the go!
Hope we'll see some more action here soon.
