Newborn and baby advice

Hi ladies - I haven't posted in a while, things have been hecitc! I had my mom with me and that was really cool, but I felt even busier with her here!

Connor went for his 8 week vaccinations on Monday, shame, he cried so much that I cried too - it was heartbreaking!! He developed a fever and was very niggly for 2 days ... He also didn't want to drink that night, I felt so sorry for him! On the upside, he now weighs 5.34kgs and measures 57cms - he's doing really well - and he's fitting so nicely into his 0-3 month clothing now! I've packed away all his newborn stuff, my little boy is growing so nicely!!

About the Nappies - we started Connor on Huggies New Baby No1's - then we moved onto Pampers No2s and he then developed quite a bad nappy rash, I've moved back to Huggies but to the Size 2s and loving them, no leaks, no rash, I will be staying with Huggies now - next will be Huggies Gold Size 3's - we are almost there!!

It sounds as if everyone is doing well - which is great!!

Forgot to add, I'm also using Woolite sensitive. I also have a front loader. I don't use any fabric softner and the clothes come out soft.

What was brilliant is checkers had a special on about a month ago where you buy 1 woolite and get another free, so we went and bought 10 and got another 10 free so walked away with 20 bottles which will last us about a year!!!

@pinky - I have the same problem with the washing powder. I'm also using Woolite Sensitive and Staysoft Baby and you're right, it works out a bit expensive. Bought a box of the Sunlight Baby and then (!!!) noticed that it's not for front loaders. Hoping the shop will take it back.

@Pinky - I also wasn't sure what to do when it came to espressing. I'm still not sure if I'm doing it right. I espressed after each feed to make up the first bottle. It took a couple of feeds to get up to 160ml. The pead said Luke would drink about 100-150ml so I espressed till I had 160ml. I was only able to espress about 40mls after each feed as Luke would suck my boobs almost dry!

Now hubby feeds him the bottle while I espress the bottle for the next day. Yesterday I managed 160ml in one go, but tonight I only mananged 100ml so will need to espress again after his feed now.

I must say it takes me a lot longer to espress milk than it takes to feed Luke off the breast, think it took me about 45min to espress 160ml. Its almost anoying how long it takes! Let me know if it also takes you that long, would like to know.

You will be able to tell when your boobs have had enough espressing as the milk won't come out. I find if I stop for a bit and carry on then it squirts again.

Our internet was of the whole day... this happens way too much these days... I am so fed up with telkom!!

Bundle, when you started expressing your milk, how long did you express after each feed? I want to start expressing in about 2 weeks, buy are really clueless as to how and when and how long etc... ???

Which washing powder do you ladies use for your LO's clothes? I use Woolite sensitive, but it is quite expensive and then sta soft baby, I wanted to use the sunlight one, but they say on the box it is not for front loaders and I have a front loader...???

Karla is doing well, she is looking good and gaining weight. The thrush is slowly but surely going away... not nice, but that is just how it is I suppose!!

About our get together... why don't we do it in the week, maybe one morning as weekends are really nice to spend with our hubbys as they don't really see the LO's in the week... Des what do you think?

@ Bundle - thanks for that name of the chiropractor - got app for Thurs morning. Yes - it is for Tayla - she is crampy... can't call it colic cos that only happens at 6 weeks apparently... the homeopathic stuff works... but if i can find a more permanent solution it would be great... mixing meds at 2am is not fun!

Luke has been giving me the biggest smiles lately. It's such a great feeling to see your little one smile at you. I feel all warm inside
