Fab weekend so far

Sarah is so much more settled since we have been giving her some formula. Sleeping much better during the day, I don't have to hold her all the time sits happily in her swing, and lies in her carry cot and plays on her play mats happily and with no screaming.

Lucy - she is way more settled in the car now, but still has her moments.

Missesmom- did you find a nanny that you like?

To those who asked, M is better! And driving us all crazy again.

Faw - how are Abdul and your Dad doing? So pleased you are happy in your new job.

Kimika thanks for the advice on topping up. S was feeding off me every 2 hours it was draining. Feeling much better now and she is so much more satisfied. She was screaming so much in the afternoons I though she had colic. And now no screaming.

The builders are breaking through into our bedroom tomorrow. We have now moved into our lounge. M just loved that and came to camp out with us last night.

Shoo I survived! So now at last I can also have some weekend

Betty, the nebuliser def helps.. Dischem sells one for about R300. Also someone said the other day that sometimes you can have it put onto medical aid. Awww the pics are so gorgeous! You have a stunning family

As for top up of formula.. I gave R a top up of nan every once in a while.. maybe once or twice a week.. but it was only about 50ml. He hasnt had one for about a month now.. my milk supply is doiing really great. But I will give him a bit again soon.. otherwise they wont take it.. and Im always scared that for some reason he will need formula and then wont have it.. like that baby thats mommy passed away and refused formula and they had to get her some donated b/m. Thats just the paranoid me there I also gave my oldest boy a top up bottle every night since he was about 6wks. It did absolutely nothing for him as even after it he would still wake up after 2hrs. And it will def affect your milk supply for that feed.. the feed will fall away. Maybe try it and see how it goes? Express that feed as soon as she goes to sleep.

Anje, I also swaddle R. He is able to unswaddle while he sleeps but thats fine. I have a heater in the room but the temp doesnt really go over 18 degrees. Then I have his woolies blanket over him and another baby blanket over that one. Oh and he wears his fleecy babygrows at night.. the ones with the more fluffy material.. like those thick ones you buy at Ackermans. And I also have a thick blanket under him in his bead. He doesnt really sweat and he def doesnt wake from being cold.

Ag just ignore that silly comment! Babies tummys dont rumble because of hunger... its because of winds!

Cath, how has your first week back at work been? So cute.. they giggle if they get a fright If I tell R he is my cookie (I do this quite loudly), then he laughs.

Lucy, your trip sounds loveley!!! Amazing how good those *real* nappies are! I want to load a phodie but Im on the 3g and its way too slow to upload photos. Telkom said we will only have our lines back after the 8th!!! grrrr

Joli, eish! Why do they always wait for the weirdest time to do that once a week poo?? I would also say wait a bit for the foodies.. the clinic sister also told me at 4 months that I should start feeding R but really I dont believe he is right for it so Im waiting for sure until he is 5 months. They say exclusive b/f up to 6 months is best. But if you start him consider veggies like butternut. Or the Olli rice cereal.. I remember Natalie saying she started Nathan on that organic one you buy at Dischem.. that might be a good option too.

Hi all! I'm still alive, really. I just speed read all the posts and never comment, but I have to comment on JOLI's post... I had to smile at your poop stories. With my son he also had a big poo just as his nappy was off so she could weigh him. LOL, she ended up changing his nappy. The other poo story was when he was constipated and I started using that sweet sticky stuff (can't remember the name now...) and it started working like a bomb (yup, what an explosion) while I was in the Hyperama at Menlyn with my mom. It was all over me and him and the floor. My mom was laughing so much I had to also laugh. The mess had to be mopped up and I had to go to Woollies to buy myself a new dress...

About people commenting about how we feed/carry/wind/etc. our babies: I WISH PEOPLE WOULD JUST KEEP THEIR OPINIONS TO THEMSELVES! The comments I got from the cashiers at Spar when I had my LG in the sling! Yo yo yo, I had to keep myself from hitting someone. And I knew they were talking about the baby in the sling as far as I went and that really ticked me off. Don't these people realise that they use enough words that I understand to know they are talking about me? And the lady saying: "But she is outside your tummy now", when I tried to explain the sling concept, just had to look inside the sling to see how peacefully my LG was sleeping in the sling. I got the "Is there a baby inside there?" question a few time and I should have said: "No, it's a monkey" or something like that.

Anyhow, going well this side, except that I have less than a month ML left. How I'm going to miss the peaceful time (OK, most of the time) alone with my LG!

Hi. Been missing cos i couldn't get on here. Then it worked yesterday for 5 minutes and died again. Seems to be working now.
Abdul has the flu. He not well at all. My dad is in hospital as well and is having a break.
Job is still great and permanent. They busy making place to keep me on.. Moving staff around. Im so lucky.

Hi girls, so I took L to the clinic to weigh her and according to the nurse she is perfectly average So I am not worried at all.

Ag shame Joli, funny story though. I am sure you will love your holiday with the kids.

Missesmom, how did it go with the nanny interview ? Glad Em enjoyed her funfair.

I have a friends baby shower tomorrow and since it is so cold and the venue is open air, we decided that hubby will look after L, while I am gone. Hehe, it will be the first time that I will be going out without her. It feels so strange, not sure if I am going to cope.

I had an audit yesterday and the lady was cooing so much over L that she didn't check much of the work...hehe.

Morning ladies.

I took Callum to the paeditritian yesterday for a check up (R650 later!). These jabs and doctors' visits are really hectic . Anyways so Callum did not poop for over 3 weeks, then last weekend he had a bit of poop and then yesterday at the doctor whilst waiting he starting pooping - and then we got called in - so there was no way I was first gonna clean him up as miss my visit again - so we went in and then he pooped over everything - nappy, clothes, bed, towel etc. and I tried to cleaned but paeditritian decided it will be easier to just rinse him in the basin. Shame he wasn't happy about that! She said he is doing well. Very strong and is busy catching up - he is not like a 5 month old (obviously) but not like a 3 month old either. She said to start feeding him, but I am so not ready for that. I don't think he is ready so I think I am going to wait a bit. But then again, he is back on 2 hourly feeds, especially at night - it's like he is hungry all the time so I don't know. I wanted to start with top up formula but she said to rather not and rather start with solids. Decisions, decisions! He is now 5.2kg - lost a 100g after all that poop as he was 5.3kg when we went for his jabs!

Then we had Kayla's karate grading yesterday as well so I took all the kids with. We had to wait outside for Kayla and then Callum started to poop again! When I thought he was done, I got up (he was sitting on my lap) to go change his nappy in the car boot - when I got up - the poop was right out his nappy - all over my shirt!! Gosh this child does not poop for weeks and then it's all over - all in one freaking day! So I cleaned him up but obviously did not have clean clothes for me - so I cleaned myself up with wetwipes and then had to walk around a wet shirt smelling like poop!! Nice hey!

Em's Mom - good luck with finding the right nanny.

Anje - argh man - mine keeps telling me that my bf milk is not enough and that I should start feeding Callum water and food!

BettyF - nice pics hey. Your baby is just too gorgeous.

Meags - how are you doing? Any improvement?

We are going on holiday in December - a bit nervous about it as Callum will be just short of 1 year. Secretly hoping that he does not walk as yet!
