Feb-May 2011 Mommies

Its amazing how our babies are all doing similiar things at similiar ages. Amelia has also been sucking on her hands for about a week or 2 now. Its very cute. She also stares at her hands as if they don't belong to her.

I've been making an effort to put her on her tummy more often. She starting to enjoy it now.

The sleeping is still the same - clusterfeed (2 or 3 times) between 5pm - 630pm. She eventually falls asleep around 630. Then she is fast fast asleep til 10ish. Feed her at 10pm, 2am, 530am.

I find she sleeps better at night if I heat a wheaty bag and put it under her blanky with her. She is still sleeping in a co-sleeper next to my bed. And she will until she drops the 2am feed because its freeeeezing here at night and I don't exactly enjoy getting out of my warm bed ( I barely open my eyes)

Kimika - I'm having the same issues with Amelia. She will take two or three sucks then pull off the breast, then take a few more sucks and pull away. She isn't even suckling enough to stimulate my letdown. So I've also been pumping!
She is also satisfied though. Fast asleep now - who knows!!

Cath - I loooove my new pump!! Thanks so much. Amelia was a bit frightened of the noise at first but is fine with it now.

Lucy - how was Tessa on the formula? Did she take to it straight away?

Vaccinations went well.. I only started crying once the 2nd needles went in and stopped as soon as she picked him up and he was able to see the cow that hangs over the changing table! LOL.. that was too sweet.. he went crazy for that cow.. gotta consider getting him one He weighs 6.2kg now... so has grown 700g in the last 4wks. Im very happy with that..

but..

he is def on some kinda feeding strike he starts crying loudly when I put him to breast! I mean seriously.. this is a baby that hardly ever cries!!! Then he is so upset that I have to rock him to sleep!! He also never did that?? Its not related to jabs as he did that a few days before.. its only a bit worse after the jabs. He will feed a bit every 4 - 6hrs!!?? Im expressing now to try keep my milk supply going.. Im a little worried.. Inbetween he is smiley as always.. its a very strange thing! Does anyone know of some kinda stage that they go on a milk strike?? His sleeping is okay.. if he didnt cry so much for feeding he would prob not have a problem?

He is def not sick.. Im almos sure he is not teething.. and clinic sister said that at this age they get so upset because milk comes too slow.. but doesnt even latch.. he just cries as soon as I put him into feeding position. Walking/rocking while feeding doesnt work.

And she said I should then start him on solids as he shows all signs of being ready.. but I dont feel he IS right to start!

Im really a bit downer.. I remember my older boy going through something similar and never from there really got over it.. he eventually at 6months totally refused the breast and I had to express for him and bf at night when he is sleepy.

Boohoo...

Betty it looks like we just missed each other in the early feed session. Happy anniversary! Men are good at losing the plot hey!

Claire, me thinks you have porridge brain! T doesn't have a tooth yet, ha ha ha! The exercises take 5 min so not a huge commitment. Poor little R, hope it was a once off and if is back to being predictable.

Kimika I hope you find what is up with R soon. Is it maybe something simple like a label scratching him? That makes t grumpy and niggly.

Doing an early morning feed....
Did any of you read the thread about the nanny who breastfed the one of the moomie mommies child. Shew I could not believe it when I read it! Those of you getting nannies for your LO's need to make it clear that they are not to breast feed their LO. I can't imagine coming home to find the nanny feeding my child...

And then there is the article about the 2 babies who died after getting vaccinated. Well one has to vaccinate - the schools ask for the vaccination card on admission.

Thanks for the well wishes on the building, it was supposed to all be done before Sarah was born, but the counsel and homeowners association took so long to approve the plans. I think DH prefers it tis way as I am home to keep an eye on things.

Claire- does Rowan have reflux or was the projectile vomiting a once off?

Today is our 6 year wedding anniversary, and I still must do our wedding album lol. Iron and candy. I got DH some iron thing to make small loves of bread in the braai and some heart shaped sweet treats.... The options were limited as I have not ventured to the bigger shopping centers... Luckily there is a builders warehouse down the road. We clearly are not going to do much celebrating though, as DH.is playing hockey... Oh well he said the thought crossed his mind not to play, but they were short of players as a bunch of them are going to watch the rugby. I was a bit disappointed but said nothing.


Anyhow nothing much happening this weekend for me.... I am sure that we will go to DH's parents. We have not yet taken S there... They expect breastfeeding to be done in private, and with M they just grabbed the baby from me as soon as I arrived. So I am not that keen on going.

Also we need to baptize S soon. We can't agree on Godparents so we kind of avoid the subject. Aah the joys....
Does anyone know where I can get a traditional christening gown made or where I can buy one?

Meags quick one I think matt teethinng)!!! And Kimika when you didnt know wha was up with little one maybe teehing too W is teehing but i think only mildlt he is coping nicely i willl miss those grogeous gums!!!!
