yea my policy is as soon as you can pay for your own Motorbike and your own Medical Aid you can get it yourself...

My LG also knows that she will go and study after school, I've been saving for an educational fund since she was 3 months old so that I would afford to send her to go and study something....

Melinda I am with you on the bike thing. No motorbikes while you are living at home and I am paying your medical aid. I would prefer them never to have one, but I guess what they do when they leave home is their responsibilty. Have seen WAY to many teenage fatalities on bikes!

here goes...

1. Pleas and Thank you is a must at all times

2. Listen and there will be no problems

3. No is No

4. I will NEVER buy you a Motorbike...don't ask me

My Daughter (12) have a PC in her room, but we are running VISTA and their Parental Control on there is AWESOME so I have no problems with the PC in her room.

She has her own GMail account so that her father can e-mail her out of Australia, but I know the password and have full access to it at all times.

In a years time she will be old enough for Facebook...I WILL be a friend :)

No Make up, nail polish till at least 16 at which time I will take her for classes so that they can teach her how to apply make up instead of of plastering it on like plascon...

She can start shaving her legs as soon as she starts feeling uncomfortable about it, no need for her to be teased at school for having long leg hair.

At 16 she can have "discreet" supervised dates with boys i.e. she can go to the movies and I will sit in the back rows and she can sit anywhere els.

If they want to go to spur, they can have their own table and we will have our own table.

Angelique already knows about AIDS but we will have "the talk" very soon (not sure how to do that)

I will promote safe sex, and tell her if you are not prepared to have a baby don't have sex...it's as easy as that.

Promoting no sex before marraige from my side is a bit hipocrytical[sp] seeing as she was out of wedlock as well as her brother...

I will promote staying together before getting married....(don't stone me)

Most of all Angelique knows she can talk to me about anything and everything....

Rules are funny things, I guess you only know to make tem when the need arises. My parents werent strict with me at all but then I was such a goody two shoes that they didnt need to be. I was also not pushed about my grades because I stressed so much about performing that more often then not my folks were trying to get me to calm down (seriously I got myself so worked up the night before my bio final that my parents told me to stop studying and took me out to dinner to get me to calm down. I went through gallons of rescue). I think this was because my parents drove their parents to distraction so they expected the worst and got three overachieving angels. I think my James will probably be a boundry pusher because I dont know what to expect:)

What I do know is:-
1. My house is a smoke free zone (including hubblys etc..) I might not be able to stop you smoking (wish I could) but u will not do it here (My dad smokes and even he isnt allowed to smoke when he visits)
2. Dinner is eaten as a family at the table. You can go out with your friends after supper. My family always did this and its a really nice time to sit and discuss what is happening. It keeps families in touch:)
3. A TV is in the tv room only. When you are little TV is for when its raining and will be limited. Otherwise there is a huge garden and junglegym outside. Use your imagination.
4. No phone calls after 8 (I even make my husband follow that rule, its rude to call people late at night)
5. You will participate in extra curricular activites. I dont care if its drama club or the surfing team. There is more to school than education.
6. Maths and Science are compulsary choices in Std 8. This may seem weird but you dont need art in highschool to study interior decorating/fine art etc.. but Science gives you choices. I have two friends that had to go back and do science via damlin in order to study physiotherapy. Mom and Dad are both Maths and Science whizzes, so if you struggle we should be able to help:)

I'm also going to start a pocket money thing early - probably in grade 0. It will be for chores done around the house and if you want something when its not your birthday/christmas you must buy it with your own money. This includes movie tickets etc. Once the money is gone its gone:)
