file What will you never allow your child to....

That was the rule when we were home. My dad used to get all of us to sit together and share what we did for that day with the family. No TVs were on. He said even if we dont feel hungry we should still sit at the family table coz with school and work, that was the only time we could all sit and talk.

The only times we did not sit together was when we were sick :)

On the boyfriend front, K already has little Joshua at creche :) Lol! They smooch right in front of DH :) I know they are still little but these will be my rules when she gets older:

1. No sleep over at boyfriend
2. No driving in the car with boyfriend. If she wants to go out, DH or I will drop them off.
3. No boyfriend in her room
4. No sex before marriage (for religious purposes)

I will not say No to boyfriends as if she wants one she will find a way to break that rule and then probably go overboard and be a rebel. I would love to actually meet the boyfriend that she will go out with and get to know the guy.

Love that quote as well :) Lol!

Firstly for us, before we even get to the rules, I want our daughter to have an open relationship with us. She must see our family as an open platform where she can tell us anything without fear.

Rules:
1. No TV and PC in rooms
2. No friends over on school nights
3. No phoning friends after 8pm on weeknights
4. No sleeping over unless we have met with the parents
5. No tattoos
6. Monitored internet and if she wants facebook, I have to be added as a friend :) Lol! :woohoo:
7. No eating in front of the TV or in the bedroom. We will all sit together at supper time to share a meal.

I think those will be the major rules in our house. I will do my best to respect her privacy as long as I know she is safe and would not want to snoop around in her things. She shoudl be honest enough to tell us what's going on.

Those are our ideals so lets hope we raise our children well so they do fit those ideals :)

I agree with you gals. No blame from my side. I blame myself for not being myself.

They have given me a true gift and that is the realisation that what we think is best for our kids isn't always best for them. I will never live my life through Dylan's which is what so many parents do.

Shame, I also can't really complain. I don't want to blame everything on my parents. Imagine if my child turns out to be something I didn't intend and everyone points fingers saying it is all my fault, don't think that will be very nice!

I at least know that my parents tried their best. Bless their hearts. My mom was very young when she had me - 20. And went through alot of shit with my biological father. Luckily she met my (step)dad when I was 5 and things got better, he was also young. I always felt loved and cared for though.

To this day I don't know what I would do without them. They are always there when I need them.
