file What will you never allow your child to....

Definately no bf/gf allowed anywhere in my house except in the lounge/kitchen. Gosh, imagine hearing "ooh, aahh, yeah baby" from behind my child's door? Reminds of Bill Cosby saying "if I hear an Oh God coming from your bedroom, there'd better be a God when I get there".

No earrings for boys
Girl must always wear her panties, this no-underwear thing that girls do these days just freaks me out.

Okay so you should praise the outcome. That makes sense.

Oh and I love brainfart. I do that often.

I honestly wish my parents had encouraged me more at school and been stricter with my grades.

Mom of Dylan and Partner to Joerg. We live in the Beautiful Pringle Bay which is along the Whale coast, Cape.

Mmmmm I'm quite hard on Kayla (Megan is still small). Even during holidays - she's in Grade 1 - we did sums and spelling etc. We don't praise them for every little thing. Kayla used to get very upset when she couldn't get something right, now she knows - practice makes perfect. I teach my kids to NEVER GIVE UP! You keep trying and keep trying if that's what you want. There's no such thing like giving up.

I saw a show once. The BBC special, Child of our times where they follow 36 or something children born in 2000 for 20 years to see how they turn out and how their parents teaching and the environment impacts on their behaviour.

They had a show when the children were 6 where they asked the parents of the most independant child of the 36 what their secret is and the father said, he never praises his children for trying and not getting something right, he wants his children to try till they get it right. He said, how would he have a business if he constantly praises his workers for trying their best to do their job, they get rewarded for doing it right. If he constantly praises them for trying they would think that doing something only half way would be okay.

Sorry, just a brainfart, but if you understand what I mean, please give me your thoughts and comments on it

My rules are simple:
- No dishonesty,
- You will do YOUR BEST at whatever you attempt, I'm not saying the best, because at long as they do their best, it is fine by me even if it is a last place.
- No skipping school.
- School comes first. They will do homework, even if the sit until 2 in the morning (my daughter had to do that more than once).
- They have to talk to me, and I will listen with an open mind, always taking their side.
You cannot trust any one, not even your own family (sad but true) :( :( :( , therefore a open relationship is very important, but it does not guarantee anything.

No sex until after I die    My friends at work think it is very funny that I believe my 18yr old don't do sex.

They don't have TV's in their room, but if the door remains open, it's fine by me. Internet once again allowed with open doors.

No piercing allowed for the boys. Tattoo's will only be allowed after 21. Earrings for girls is fine, and bellyrings was only allowed in high school for my daughter. No other piercings until after the age of 21.

In today's day and age, it is important that your child can contact you at any time, so cellphones are allowed for communication purposes with me when they start school, especially if they go on school trips or to play sport.

No TV in her room. I'm more scared of the teenage years when you can't control what they watch. Therefor no TV in her room at all.
No G-strings. I hate it when little girls wear this. (I'm not judging). She can buy this with her own money when I don't need to do her washing anymore.
Don't get me started on the boyfriend-issue. DH & I discussed this and I can't imagine my little angel going out with a boy. I think I will follow them to the movies and hide behind a rimmed hat. :silly:

We live in Krugersdorp

Having a child is much harder than I thought it would be!!
