I Love those bibs Christelle, I also have one. I can't answer all of your questions but the one about your baby being 8 1/2 mnths is easy. She is definately not too young. Also with the Mince. I would make sure you cook the mince very well so it's not tough and drain off as much sauch as possible. That way she should be able to pick it up with her pincer fingers. RE: The yoghurt, My Son basically lives on Yoghurt but maybe if you are worried about the smooth texture becoming and issue you could put little bits of soft banana into it?

Oh and as for the bibs, I got this really great long sleeved bib from Kidz Emporium. It is really great - looks like a long sleeved shirt, but the sleeves can be removed.

Also, you can just wipe it clean (and it has a pocket that collects the food that falls) so it saves on washing!! Always a bonus :)

Ok, so here are some of my questions:

1. She seems to just be gumming meat and not actually swallowing any of it. Is this ok? Is she still getting her protein?
2. She seems to prefer fruit to veggies. Is it ok to give her lots of fruit then?
3. Soft fruit (like avo) is just being squashed in her hand. Will this improve with time?
4. Can I giver her things like mince to eat? Will she be able to pick it up?
5. How much variety do I give her at one sitting? Say for instance I giver her something, but she does not eat it. Do I give her something different or not?
6. She is 8 ½ months old at the moment – is it a bit too late to introduce BLW to her?
7. Also, she loves her yogurt. Sometimes when she does not want to eat anything, I just give her a yogurt and 9 out of 10 times she will eat it. Is this healthy? Won’t that result in her being used to only smooth textures?
I’m sorry if this seems a bit helter skelter. Hope you can give me some advice. As you can see, I’m a bit of a paranoid mommy 

You know what I have also done in the past Lientjie is take an old towel or a terry cloth square and folded it in half. I then cut a round part out in the middle of the fold for the neck. I took thick Ribbing and overlocked it into the, when it's finished you just pull it over babies head and there you have it, a kind of poncho which covers alot of his body and arms but has his hands free.

Aaaah, Christelle - Zani is too cute!

I personally feel that a lot of people have a problem with BLW just 'cause it has a new name. It actually is such a natural way of letting them just get on with it by themselves and has been done for ages! And the book really makes for some interesting reading.

@2kidmamma - Thanx! Can't sew, but I can cut ;) . Will just get some help with the putting together. Looks simple enough...

@Marijke - Good luck with the spring cleaning. I've been putting mine off for a while now...

Thanks Marijke

He was about 8 months old in these photos. He loves porridge. I have to say eventhough I have been mostly a spoon feeding mommy since he started eating he actually doesn't really want to use a spoon at all. he would much rather eat with his hands. He has mastered the art of yoghurt with a spoon now though and he's not doing a bad job.
