@ Marike and the rest: How did you get your children to learn to use a spoon?

I did say that I advocate eating with our hands but I am not strict with this and as we know some foods cannot be eaten with our hands :) Lol! Imagine tackling soup! :)

Anywasy I have noticed that K tries to use the spoon but she does not really know how to load the food onto the spoon and in some cases where she managed she turns ths poon before it reaches her mouth so the food goes on the floor. She does not want me to show her as she thinks am taking the spoon away from her.

What can I do to help her? She will be 15 months in 1 week's time and is a very strong-willed and independent girlie :)

Thanks Claudia - i have now received a couple of invites to join other groups will join them all. lol

I spoon feed, self feed of the floor feed. I do what my child is happy doing. she closes her mouth when she does not want her porridge any more and then i stop feeding her!!!

Good grief Charlotte, sorry you are having totake abuse like that on a forum that is supposed to be for all:)
I think some people have confused what is essentially a "chat room" with a closed group in facebook:)

Join the baby and newborn advice group - theyre all nice and all have different ideas.

BTW the force feeding a child from a spoon comment is actually in the book and I think some people have taken it out of context. If your child happily accepts a spoon then you are not force feeding - what is being reffered to is those children who refuse spoons, whose parent resort to train noises and aeroplanes to try get them to open there mouths and for whom meal times have become a nightmare... (think of the child as an adult, would it not be force feeding if an adult shut their mouth, shook their head and refused the food, while the person who knows better tries desperately to get them to open wide??)

Charlotte - I sent you a PM (which is what you do when you don't want the world to join your conversation, isn't it???)

I've previously asked in another thread about the bibs with sleeves / art aprons. Couldn't find any at Game yet. Does anyone know where else I can buy it? R120 at KidsEmporium is a bit ridiculous in my opinion.
