I'm trying to post some pics of my LB eating from his plate with his spoon at about 8 months old. In a way I have been a kinda BLW Mommy here and there and I always let me my kids take food with their hands if they don't want to use utensils. Having trouble posting the pics though.

I also combine the two feeding methods and it works for me...

Hi all you BLW Mamma's if you can sew and are worried about messes then try the following pattern. i was lucky enough to get similar Bibs brought to me from the UK for a stork party and they really have helped. They don't have to be exact and you could just make it out of and old towel too.

You have actually given me an idea now. We have got the exact same chair and never though of taking the tray off so he can sit by the table. Will make BLW much easier, cause he is still to small for the tray.

So last night i did not make pasta - that why i didn't come to fetch B Marijke. lol

i made chicken, with rice, patato, corn and "skorsie" i put her in the bumbo with the tray on the table next to me and gave her that plate. she loved the chicken... i still fed her the "skorsie" but she opened the mouth for it. she finished it all.

and the mess was horrible i think i still have some in my hair.

Oh so i went online and did a bit of research on the topic - yes im a freak - "The baby sits with the family at mealtimes and joins in when she is ready: feeding herself first with her fingers and later with cutlery" so to me this is an initial style of "feeding" when they are ready they will eat with cutlery.
