Joybaby - Glad you are feeling better and hope your little one is better soon!

We flew to capetown 2 weeks ago and we could only get a 3pm flight, or really i had to work so i chose the 3pm flight. We just asked creche to give her a short ten o clock nap so that she would make it to 3.

We took crayons and a book, a new toy a bottle and some juice and bought some smarties as a "reward"

she slept from just after take off right up until everyone started getting off the plane. On the way back we got sa lunch time flight, unfortunately she slept in the car for 45mins on the way to the airport so we thought there was no way she would sleep, but as soon as we were flying again she was out for the count. The white noise from the engines seems to work marvelously on little souls. I do recoomend though that you take a sucker or dummy for the descent, just in case she gets sore ears.

you get 20kgs of luggage for them (on Kulula its R75 for their ticket to sit on your lap) and we used this for her suitcase with a full bag of nappies, a tin of formula a few bottle some clothes a blanket a towel etc and her car seat (yes the stage 2 car seat).

the pram you take right up to the plane with you, and then hand it to the airhostess who stows it beneath the plane.

They don't give you any trouble taing formula, milk, water or juice onto the plane for them. the only thing they mentioned is a thermometer for some or other reason, but we didn't have one, if you do, put it in your suitcase.

Joybaby - glad to hear that Kaylee is home! Really hope that she has not caught RSV.

Robyn yay so glad you'll have your weekend away! And taking D with to the game reserve! Is there space for me in your suitcase??? I'm super jealous!

Flowergirl I was truely impressed with Emy's vocab, and just goes to show that being at creche isnt necessary what causes them to learn speech faster. To speak full sentences at this age is truely incredible!
K's vocab has also increased a lot lately. Saying many more single words, and tends to copy us a lot more. Started saying hello daddy, hi dad, hi mom, all gone, and similar kinds of words this week. Still also does a lot of alien speak, where it appears to be full on conversations.

You guys who are going away are very lucky!
We are probably moving house next weekend. It was meant to be this weekend but the tenants application has been delayed and we told them we cant find out 2 days before the time cos we still have to pack so they said they can move in a week later. But STILL waiting on the application process to be finalised so that we know for sure if we must pack this weekend or not.
I think I want to try go to DH aunt's holiday house in Gordons Bay at the end of the month just so that we can also get a bit of a break.

Spent Mon - Wed in hospital with K. She developed a bad cough on Friday after being totally healthy. Because she was only a month post surgery we didnt want to take chances so took her to GP on monday morning and he sent us straight to paed ward. Well they took all sorts of tests to determine what we were dealing with but didnt come back with a single virus or bacterial infection that could be cultured in 48hrs. So they sent us home yesterday after lots of physio with cortizone and antibiotics saying its probably just a virus and keep her home till next week.
She had been playing with another girl a month older than her for those 2 days and yesterday morning their test results came back saying she had RSV. So after 2 days of them playing together suddenly she had to stay in her room away from us which was rather awkward and a bit sad, but just goes to show what goes on in hospitals. I think the doc put K on antibiotics more because of her exposure in hospital than anything else!
Well the mom and I exchanged numbers as we got on quite well so maybe our girlies will have playdates when they're feeling better.

AFM nausea comes and goes. Sunday it was really bad again, but thankfully Monday and Tuesday it was bearable. Yesterday I was queasy but managable. This morning I threw up while trying to pack away dishes and clean the kitchen, but since then it's been okay. Other than that I dont feel pg at all. Boobs are not sensitive, and not really tired or weeing lots.

Oh, the one thing i was thinking is that I would book the flight over her nap time so that hopefully she sleeps most of, if not ALL the way!!

Robyn - we are in the same boat!! Driving to SEdgefield end April, so also about a 4 hour drive - longest we have done with her! And in May, we are flying to DBN with her for the first time!! So also need advice!!

Glad your holidays both worked out

So it looks like the spa will honour our booking, so we may still have our weekend away

Plus we are going to take D with us to the game reserve for a week end April
Now I need help on what to do with her on the 2 hour flight (and the 4 hour drive to the park )

YAY - posts to catch up on!!!

Em's vocab is quite good. She can identify all of us and calls us by name. I am either Nay or Mommy and DH is either Pappa, Braam or daddy The grandparents, cousins and aunts and uncles she also knows by name. This week she has started real sentences. Anything we tell her to do, she repeats. For example I will say: Emily, go throw the paper in the bin". then she says: "Mommy throw paper in bin!" If I say: "Emily go play with your toys". She says: "Mommy go play with Emy's toys" so basically mommy has to do everything. My ma has also taught her if she asks: "Whose big girl are you?" she says: "Emy is Ma's big girl!"

Jeanine - we are moving in August and I chose to move Emily to the bigger bed now already because I think it will be too much change for her if we move her into a new bed in a new house. I want her to be comfortable in the bed first so that she knows it is HER bed in the new house and she at least sees familiar things.

On that note, I wish I had moved her to a bigger bed sooner!!!!! She slept through again last night which confirms that I was right - the noise from knocking against the sides of the smaller bed must have been what kept waking her at night!!

Em has not figured out how to open doors yet - thank goodnes!! But she can open the gate that leads from our garden to the play area
